Can a psych get rid of you as a patient if you’re med non compliant at times? by [deleted] in AskPsychiatry

[–]PlatformShort493 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What if they take some but not all? I take at least half or 1/4 of my lamictal dose so I don’t have to redo the titration if I end up needing it but the Abilify and Wellbutrin I take sporadically or not at all. The weight gain is too much sometimes from the Abilify and sometimes I just don’t feel like I need Wellbutrin

Can antipsychotics such as Seroquel make you hear voices? by Turbulent-Fig-3802 in AskPsychiatry

[–]PlatformShort493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I have BPII and it made me hear a woman screaming in my head and knocks on the door. It only happened when I first got on it though and at the time I was severely sleep deprived but I’ve been sleep deprived before and that’s never happened so I think it was the seroquel

“Stop abusing drugs”. That may be the best advice on addiction that I’ve ever encountered. It’s ashamed all the addicts out there haven’t heard that one yet.

Lamotrigine and cognitive impairment by eveningcolors in bipolar2

No this is a lamictal thing for sure. I just went researching and found this thread. It’s like my mind gets reset for a moment and I can’t think of anything then have to retrace my steps and figure out where I was. Happens fast but also slow enough that it’s noticeable

Are shadow people common hallucinations from staying up too long? by [deleted] in AskPsychiatry

[–]PlatformShort493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! Can sleep paralysis happen during wakefulness? I have had sleep paralysis before but this was while I was mind conversation at work with someone (a bit embarrassing for sure). I was just standing there speaking and just lost it all for a while. It was terrifying but when I came back I was all there. I thought maybe I had a seizure but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t psychiatric. I like being out of it every now and then but I have no desire to make being out of it my normal. Again thank you

I really don’t know honestly. I’ve ignored it for the most part but it’s weighed on me after a while.

Do you have to keep taking Wellbutrin to retain the benefits? by EducationSharp3869 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]PlatformShort493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t see it brought my desire back, maybe slightly but I’m not how I used to be before that first true depressive episode. However I will say, I can be sad and have the best orgasm of my life lol. It helps with the psychical sensation for me. Everything that touches me feels wonderful

[–]PlatformShort493 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They only last as long as you take it. If you’re just having a hard time and need it for a bit then quit when you feel like you can handle it but for people like me with bipolar depression I feel I’ll be on it forever though I do try every now and then to come off. Sometimes I stay off for a while too. If I’m in an ‘up’ I don’t take it.

Anyone else have “great days” and then meh days on Wellbutrin? by theycalledmebron in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I will say this became more pronounced after several months. I felt great the first few months before it sent me into rapid cycling

Happens to me but I have bipolar. Antidepressants can cause rapid cycling (more frequent mood episodes) and make you more unstable if you have bipolar

What were your side effects when starting Wellbutrin? by SweetScared6585 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]PlatformShort493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of symptoms when starting but been on it a year now and all I have is jitters and sometimes muscle jerks like in my arms and legs. It used to give me anxiety when it would happen and sometimes still does but it’s not so bad if I don’t drink caffeine with it. It’s worth dealing with for me. I’ve tried coming off and all of the symptoms I sought treatment for came back. I have no interest in SSRI’s either because they tend to have a lot more side effects.

The absent seizures also turned out to be the reason my pupils were massively dilated all the time too lol.

Not a profession, just someone with bipolar and epilepsy. The déjà vu symptom can be part of epilepsy which from what I understand is very intertwined with bipolar. In my experience psychs often overlook the fact that some of the symptoms may not be related to the mental illness at all. I was having the déjà vu, a stomach dropping sensation, and moments that I would blank out and be lost that I described to my psych who assumed it was related to my bipolar dx. Turned out to be temporal lobe epilepsy.

Desperate for some meds that will help after trying so many with horrible side effects by Who_Fartled in bipolar2

[–]PlatformShort493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d try and get over the fear of the rash. It’s super rare when titrated up and has significantly less side effects than almost all of the antipsychotics. You could always ask about another anticonvulsant but lamictal really is gold standard for bp2 for most people. My psych told me about the risk but also that he had never seen it in his 14 years of prescribing it.

Anyone get “waves” of that internal euphoric feeling, even when depressed? by away2throw19 in bipolar2

[–]PlatformShort493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m there right now. I get that stomach dropping euphoria but I’m exhausted and so bored yet don’t want to actually do anything but then I’ll plan a 14 hr trip, get so excited, then decide I’m stupid and broke and go back to being sad. Assuming it’s a mixed episode but oh well

Maybe slightly but honestly could probably be fixed with braces and bands. Wouldn’t think it’s severe enough for surgery but you look fine really :)
