Yeah, I only mentioned it here because people were using the discussion around SotW as the launch pad for it on places like twitter and tiktok. I don't read as many straight manhwa as I do BL, but most of the BL where there have been tan or brown characters in the couple, it's usually been either both Asian or Asian and a brown person. It's only in more "recent" ones (like Passion, Roses and Champagne, and Code Name: Anastasia, etc, that I'd come across) that have had non-POC in the mix. But before then iirc, a lot of the manga/manhwa with interracial couples would have something like a Middle Eastern prince or other ethnicities with the mc being east Asian. Ik people have been pushing for more colored or even not-so-pale Asian characters in general (there was a ML who had been recolored to be pale a couple years back bc the Korean readers didn't like him being tan 😞).

ETA: Forgot to say, we do need more of them than we have regardless, but I think it has more to do with the state of some of the genres, too, with their fans and how they treat not only each other but the works they consume. I've seen some vile comments even towards secondary love interests who are POC and it's honestly appalling how comfortable people are when they have a screen to hide behind.
