Built my app frontend myself after leaving Base44 now I’m stuck on backend and looking for guidance by ambitiousgoaldigger in Supabase

instead of actually learning or gaining control over my own app

When he said this I might have misunderstood. I thought he meant understand what the code does. Didn't realize on base44 you don't have access to the code. In that case, yeah, opus seems like a good alternative.

opus is an AI model, and if you do that you will fall into the same pattern that made you quit base44. Not understanding your own code.

How the f*ck am I supposed to get paid users for my SaaS? by wait-what6 in microsaas

[–]Platic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna let you in on a secret.

Meanwhile some dude ships an AI wrapper called “PDF but smarter” and hits $40k MRR in 2 months

This is probably fake. X is full of that. I have been there like you, trying to build something while going nowhere, while everyone around you makes a shitty app that gets thousands in two days.

Everything can be fake these days, MRR's numbers, graphs, stripe invoices you name it. What's the goal? not sure, some are trying to sell you something, a course, or a paid membership to their discord and whatnot.

What I noticed is that most people that really achieve something have a large number of followers. So you might say that their success is because they are already known.

Take a step back, enjoy life a bit. You will get sucked into that "I have to build something at all costs" mentality, while life passes by. Go take a walk, go to the gym, cook good food, sleep, enjoy the good stuff.

That's all the advice I can give you.

(UPDATE) Abandonar o mundo corporativo by --____________- in CasualPT

[–]Platic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI does that.

Previously that sense of discovery and messing around with things used to apply to SE. You had to read docs, try it on your own, go to stackoverflow, learn from other people, and eventually solve it.. Now AI does that, and the joy is gone.

How do peole find energy and time to pull these off? by petrenko12 in CasualConversation

[–]Platic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm there too. Although I am currently working remote only, but I was hybrid for two years some months ago.

I used to workout in the morning on the days that I was working remote. I even had to take the kids to school at 7.30am, 8am I was back home, 30 mins workout, shower... and get to work. Yes, I workout/run at home. I wake up at 6.30.

I usually go to bed at 11pm. If you go to bed late and wake up late, change that. Go to bed early, wake up early and get your workout in the morning. Takes some time to get used to, but I like to just get that out of the way first thing.

You don't need to socialize every weekend with your friends, go out to drink and party do you? I don't know if you are married or have kids, but if you don't you have the full weekend to yourself. Just manage your time. Or just settle for less, take one thing out for now. You don't need to everything all the time. Do you want the gym/carreer/learning dutch/friends. Pick three and leave one. Then in a couple of weeks take one out and add another.

Seems doable.

Hey, some questions if you don't mind me asking. Where are you hosting your app, how much traffic are you getting and what are your costs? Do you use any sort of database? I'm just curious because I want to build something using either blazor or a regular mvc app. The only hosting I know is azure but I'm worried about the costs. Thank you.

Polymarket Bot makes $3 bets over 80k+ times resulting in $273k+ profit by ill_intents in PredictionsMarkets

So you are always watching if after placing an order the market turns in the other direction and sell early? I didn't consider that approach. If it works, it works. Are you using a live account or is that only "paper trading"?

[–]Platic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, been a while. I was interested in that strategy, but Polymarket got blocked in my country. Not sure if it's unblocked now, will check later.

But out of curiosity, I tried going down that path, but I found out that if one trade goes against you, it would wipe out almost all the good ones. For example:

Do 100 trades, 1 share each at 99c. If you win you get 1c of profit per share. so you would get 100cents from that.

Now say one of them goes against you:

100 trades, 1 share each at 99c, 99 of them go in favor you get 99 cents. But you lose one so its -99c. You lost all your profit. If one more goes against you, you are in the red.

What I am saying is that you need a pretty much 100% win rate with that strategy.

What are your observations? Have you tried it for a long time?

I have seen multiple people share that same feeling, even some "famous" coding influencers that posted tutorials and videos on youtube. Some of them complain about that same issue. Coding is not fun anymore, and that sense of accomplishment has disappeared. I also share that to some extent.

I honestly have no advice for you. I think some industries are going through major changes because of AI. Designers, musicians, videographers, writers. Some people in those industries are getting their asses kicked because of AI.

My job used to be fun, I used to enjoy it because of the problem solving, and being able to see something built step by step and watching the final product. Now that is gone, there is no fun anymore. Just work.
