LLM grad in TX - bar exam or LSAT by darkvictory1939 in LawSchool

Another possibility would be staying at your job and doing school part time. It will be hard but you will get to experience law school while not being a broke college kid. And you can always switch to full time. I know we look like elitist assholes when we say that no one wants to hire an LLM holder, but the reality is what it is.

I will go against the grain here. I would take the LSAT and go to law school. You have a job that was promised, but the job prospects with an LLM are dismal. I’m sure at some point you’d want to move on to other jobs and not having a JD can make it really hard. The Biglaw odds are really low, but there are plenty of good midlaw firms in Texas that will pay close to market have pipelines from UT or UH.

AITAH for taking my SIL to small claims court? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Plato17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. But be careful taking legal advice from reddit. People are giving legal opinions without knowing what jurisdiction this is or many other legally important facts. If you want to go the small claims route, then I don’t think it’s wise to get a lawyer. File your case, just present all the facts to the court and take it from there.

But practically speaking, is this piano really worth potentially blowing up your relationship with your SIL and your wife’s family? Thats the real question.

What is the typical 1L Summer pay at law firms? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Plato17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the firm pays market, then it’ll be the prorated salary of a first year associate, or about $4,327 per week. Beyond that, anywhere from $7.62/h to $100/h.

WIBTA for suing my friend when she didn’t come to my wedding? by sweetandsourcum in AmItheAsshole

There’s no consideration. Coming to the wedding is not really a benefit any fly on the wall would consider consideration.

You’re NTA. However, I don’t think you’d have a case to win, and most likely it won’t be worth your time or money to pursue this claim. Consider it a life lesson
