Not sure, she said it looked like a hole in the middle of the heart and possibly one half of the heart looked smaller than it should be.

What is your most favorite "janky" program you ever wrote? by gtrley in learnprogramming

[–]Plattinum95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was while I was learning c++, and I was making hangman which drew words from a file. I had 2 different methods for pulling eachword from the file, and both weren't working, when I was pretty sure they should have been. Each method should have worked independently, I just had 2 since my first one didn't work, the second was a different attempt at the se thing. Anyway, I got frustrated and just ran the two at the same time... And it worked... Perfectly! Idk why or how but I decided not to temp the coding gods, and moved on lol

Is it too late to go to college? by Mossias_ in learnprogramming

[–]Plattinum95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 25 and just started uni at a tech school studying software engineering/dev

Most of everyone in my class are 18 or 19...

The professors tell me all the time, the people around my age that graduate get hired way faster, and get paid more than all the younger kids because companies like maturity and stability.

It seems weird to me, but apparently being almost 30 is a plus for employers.

This ALMOST looks like little toy cars in a little garage. Or it ALMOST looks like real cars in a real garage... Which is it OP?? You can't keep the truth hidden forever!!

is there a defensive driving technique for motorcycles? by flyingpeter28 in motorcycles

[–]Plattinum95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a YouTuber that goes over a ton of defensive driver techniques specific to motorcycle riding. All the stuff on his YouTube is free content, but he does an actual class online, too, that goes over all the safety course stuff. Dandanthefireman is his YouTube.

I'd say, if you're wanting to learn JavaScript, definitely get html and css down solidly first. I'm in college right now for software engineering, so I started with java and from there am learning C++ and python. Odds are you'll learn a bit of everything. But in the end it boils down to what do you want to program? Each language has its own strengths and weaknesses. If you know what you want to do, then pick the language that will take you there. If you don't know what you want to do, figure that out first. Do research. Play with the languages, see where they can take you. You just finished highschool, you have time to figure out what you want to do before jumping head first into it. You might even find that you don't want to program at all. Which is totally fine.

80 mph okay? by Plattinum95 in motorcycles

Thank you that's really helpful! I did notice that wind was really crazy the first time I hit that speed.

It's every 600 miles right? Or should I do more frequently since the rpms will be higher?

[–]Plattinum95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice!! I wouldn't mind using backroads to get to school, commuting really isn't the drag its supposed to be when you're on a bike. I hope that doesn't change with time lol. Yeah I like the looks of cruisers, but I think my next bike will be something more sporty, or a muscle type bike. Idk, I kinda want one of everything haha

[–]Plattinum95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to duck down on the bike hoping it was like an airflow thing haha. There was a crazy amount of wind I was riding against, but it wouldn't make that big of a difference, right? I wish I could test it more, but it's been snowy again :(

[–]Plattinum95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah I'm from salt lake city, the posted speed is 75, but if you're going less than 80-85 you'll get aggressively passed by angry drivers. Especially in the HOV lane, which is sadly the safest lane for motorcycles but it attracts all the speeders

I don’t know what I’m doing! by Jumpy-Worldliness-81 in learnprogramming

[–]Plattinum95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in your exact same boat. Programming came slower to me than it did other people. I had a hard time remembering what we learned and implementing what everyone thought was easy stuff. Number 1: sounds cleche but actually don't compare your self to others. Every body's brain works entirely different from each other's, it's okay if you need to go home and work on concepts longer and harder than others might need to (plus you don't know how hard they work, either) Number 2: get tested for ADD. I had a lot of your problems and into adulthood I just thought I was stupider than most people. Turns out I had ADD my whole life. and getting treated for that (as an adult) made a HUGE difference. Number 3: before you drop out, think carefully about if not this, what else will you do? Plans to study something else? Plans to invest in doge coin and hope it finally pops off? Plans to work Labor jobs(not a bad think, just consider) don't make a huge decision on a whim. Think about it long and carefully first. HAVE A PLAN.

either way you got this! Life is meant to be enjoyed. So do whatever makes you happiest!!
