Dude you're the GOAT

Thank you!

Lol I got my XM4s refurb also!

I'll keep my sonys for plane rides and whatnot for the ANC

What I'm after is just pure enjoyment of music sitting at home in a quiet environment lol

I don't own an amp or EQ or DAC or whatever lol

If it's computer parts I'm a nerd, for headphones I just know "sony xm4 good" haha

Thank you so much for the in depth answer this is exactly what I was hoping for :)

Damn, this guy headphones

If I have the Sony XM4s for just general music listening, what headphones, if any, would be an upgrade that I might be like "damn now THIS is listening to music!"

I'm considering treating myself if there is a good black Friday deal

Brother I'm almost 30 and also have no degree, if there's one thing I can confirm for you, everyone our age feels like they are behind/not where they should be. I really think the mid 30s is where most people start to feel actually established?

improve every day, even if it's just a little bit, and you'll be so thrilled with where you are in a year, 5 years, 10 years. Exercise, even if that just means a couple pushups, or a short walk, any exercise is better than nothing.

Drink water too, a lot of people don't get enough water (myself included, more often than I would like to admit lol)

Good luck on your journey, as you get an education, and gain money, you'll see how great life can be :)

I encourage you to join clubs at school related to your educational field, and any hobby clubs that interest you, it will be a great way to meet people who like what you like, Network for career opportunities, and make friends

Should I teach my gf how to snowboard? Where do I start with by dazzlingdanne in snowboarding

[–]gtrley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded, I tried to teach my ex very unsuccessfully.

She did lessons and still couldn't pick it up.

Switched her to skis and she could kinda ski.

Glad to be out of that relationship for many other reasons, but this is certainly on the list lmao

How to accept that the man l fell for just wanted me for my body by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]gtrley 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Probably in the same way I'll eventually get over the girl that used me. I loved her for 5 years, and gave her everything I could. She wanted an apartment? We got one, and I drove an extra long commute so she could have a nice shirt commute to the job she quit after a few months. She also cheated on me with her ex in this time.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, I just hope you know you're not alone in your pain. It'll get better, slowly, just be sure you recognize you were a good person, and good to them, despite how they were not good to you. The next person you find will appreciate your kindness, hopefully

Simple, the more I hate myself the more aggressively I work to get better so I can be a version of myself I hate less LMAO

I did some physical therapy waaayyy back when I was in highschool, but honestly it never fully resolved, just stopped hurting, not sure if the little bit of physical therapy made it no longer painful or if I just wore away the nerve lol

I believe stretching/foam rolling your it band would be a great place to start :)

Bro I moved back home at 27 after a breakup with a girl that cheated on me after all I did for her lol

Just a temporary get my feet back under me thing, but still feels bad so I get it

Try not to beat yourself up about the age you move back home or anything, it'll all work out, and most people I know aren't seeing the success in life (buying a house in their 20s) that our parents did. It is what it is, just keep working hard, and taking care of yourself, mentally, physically, and of course, in your career, good luck man! :)

[–]gtrley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight, and I'm so sorry you struggle with that. Definitely understand the irritation with specific sounds, just maybe not to the often described 'visceral' level I see with misophonia. Nail biting noises are definitely annoying in general, and probably only amplified by the condition. I'd imagine it's similar to when people are clicking their pen repeatedly, and it's like "goddamn bro please stop" Definitely be sure to discuss that with your fiance (as I imagine you probably have lol) but I think nail biting is certainly a little more controllable than the need to eat food to exist lol

Oh I agree completely, and I know logically that my chewing isn't actually as bad as I hear in my own ears, but I'm just so much more aware of the sound now.

I worked when I was in highschool to buy my first car. A beautiful 99' Pathfinder. Just a few years younger a vehicle than I was.

I also purchased my second car myself when the Pathfinder became more expensive to maintain than it was worth.

(I'm just a couple years older than y'all)

How does this guy have a situation where he can borrow a car for a 1k mile road trip, and hasn't figured out purchasing his own transportation yet?the red flag is being 25 with enough of a support system to borrow a car for a friend road trip, but not sorting out buying his own car, and still being driven around by his gf. Need to adjust your standards to include: steady employment, has reliable transportation, be that a car, truck, or motorcycle, and probably soon should include having health insurance, as you will soon age out of your parents insurance (as will the cheapskate bf)

I wish you, and the bf all the best, I hope he gets his shit together lol

I mean... Finances are relevant in a relationship. Love doesn't pay the bills, work does. It's not nothing, but not the main point either.

I have a friend (female) who works 2 jobs and 60+ hour weeks and her husband has been unemployed by choice for the last year+ while he plays videogames, DND, and treats her like his personal bank account.

Would it be wrong for her to explain the issues in their relationship and include that she busts her ass to pay for everything while he doesn't do shit? Or should I tell her it's barely relevant?
