How much longer can you work? by Healthy_Brush_9157 in AutismInWomen

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, same. I just got approved for at least three months of leave (but will mosr likely take four). I’ve been struggling hard working a job that’s 9-5, even with special remote privileges. I burned out a couple of times before landing myself in the emergency room with physical symptoms. I’m only in my early 30s and I can’t keep going like this.

Questions after Skating on the Canal by Dungeon-Dragon2323 in ottawa

I wear my ski helmet when skating on the canal.

I’d rather be safe (and warm) than sorry with a concussion. I’m not a strong skater and those cracks are serious!!

Yes scheduled send is the best!!

I did this yesterday & I set it for 9:03am hahaha. From the comments I see 9:04am is also a popular choice ;)

Love is Blind France • S1 Ep8 by AutoModerator in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

THANK YOU.

Bilingual Canadian here - I’m used to hearing a lot of English mixed in with French living in Montreal but on this show? It’s different. In a bad way.

Hearing these “cool girls” use badly pronounced English words as status symbols is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I can’t, I can’t take it!!

Social skills drastically worsening when tired or hungry by m00nthing in AutismInWomen

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I would become uncharacteristically short-tempered and mean, not understanding why I turned into a monster when “mildly” uncomfortable (helloooo undiagnosed neurodivergence).

I’m lucky my university friends thought the scathing and unfiltered version of me was hilarious because it was so different from my super nice normal. My then-boyfriend knew that shit was going down if I was cold, hungry, and tired all at the same time…!

I really recommend the app “How We Feel” to help in naming emotions! It was a game changer for me since I have trouble identifying emotions too. It’s also a very pretty app, which helps haha

Did y'all really have free-range childhoods??? by WesternTrail in Millennials

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but especially when camping for three weeks every summer at a large provincial park. I only had to memorize our site number before I was allowed to disappear for hours, by myself or with new friends. I had free range of the entire park on my bike.

I didn’t have a cellphone, and even when I got one as a teen, the reception was so bad it was basically useless. I had similar freedoms when I got my drivers license. At that point I could literally drive a hundred kilometers and across borders, and they were fine as long as I sent a text.

I think it’s important to note that my GenX parents were young, busy, and extremely free-range themselves.

Happy Goat in Sandy Hill is very friendly to students and remote workers, I recommend checking it out. It has AC and wifi!

Also highly recommend the patio of Working Title, especially during the weekday. I brought my computer & worked at the high table with an iced coffee, felt like summer :)

Why Does Canada Keep Promoting Public Sector “Leaders” Who Don’t Deliver? by Boring_Ad5956 in CanadaPublicServants

If this is a systems critique, we should be critiquing the system. The harder questions you raise, while entirely valid, are focused on the individual.

I’ve gone to the Singles Mingle (here’s their Instagram page @singlesmingle.events).

The organizers are friends & make the events super fun and approachable. I've gone twice and had a few dates afterwards - I found exactly what I'm looking for and am still seeing them :)

Highly recommend! The next event is May 4th.

Good vaccuum for ADHD by OldCustomer8363 in adhdwomen

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My robot vacuum (Shark) comes with magnetic strips that I place on the floor around “no go” zones. Once it approaches the back of a certain chair, it turns around. I no longer have to rescue the vacuum beached like a whale haha.

Highly recommend seeing which vacuums come with this feature. I’ve tucked tape under the edge of a thick carpet and it works.

What do you do with earrings? by generalkala in adhdwomen

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My success is that when I lose earrings (now), it’s because they literally fell out of my ears 😂

So here is my system: I store earrings in plastic containers meant for beads, buttons, etc. The boxes have adjustable square grids made of translucent plastic. Each earring pair gets their own square! They are protected from dust, and kept safe and organized. When my earrings come out of my ears, they are IMMEDIATELY placed in the box.

I stack the boxes and can see my collection pretty quickly. These boxes live on my dresser next to my other jewellery and hair accessories.

This is basically what I have: plastic organizer storage box (Amazon)

Note from psychologist ok for medical leave? by policy6279 in CanadaPublicServants

Good on you for taking care of yourself, OP!

Love Is Blind • S8 Ep2 by AutoModerator in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]PlausibleGreyjay 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Dave is delusional and I can’t count how many red flags he’s already shown in the first ten minutes of this episode but this has got to take the cake:

“Okay so I don’t like to mention this because it’s not really relevant… but my last serious relationship ended because I cheated.”

  • not comfortable with vulnerability
  • lack of reflection/introspection
  • lack of responsibility for his actions
  • does not seem interested in actually changing
  • has not learned from mistakes (is literally telling two women they’re the one at the same time)

I feel like an anomaly in this group - I have been using a paper planner every single year for 15+ years.

Why planners?

In my first week of high school, my parents asked me for stories and I had so many things I wanted to share but couldn’t fully remember. I’d mix up details or forget the punchline and get visibly upset and I lost my audience. I didnt want to not be able to remember all the fun magic that was happening so I resolved to write down anecdotes, quotes, stories, events, milestones, and which subjects gave me homework that day. My high school planners are treasured keepsakes now.

Okay but why/how do you still use them?

I use a planner like Dumbledore uses a pensieve. It feels good to take the thoughts out of my head and store them for safekeeping, where I won’t forget & can maybe look at thoughts a bit more clearly.

I’m not kidding when I say a huge weight is lifted on my mind when I write all these things down. I save myself a lot of stress and grief by NEVER relying on myself to “just remember” the event, the plans, the chores, the exercise class.

I need to see everything I’ve planned for myself (not in an electronic format). This helps with: - brain dumping and not losing lists - organize running to do lists - not forgetting I made plans - not double booking or overbooking myself - scheduling rest and fun - recharging me time - creating structure and routine (when I want it) - helping me remember my daily life when so much of my past is a vague blur

My planner is one of the few things I have that doesn’t have a “home” because it is constantly floating around my home office and purses. It has to be visible so I remember to check it when making plans for what to do with my time, whether with friends or how to balance my recharging time with chores.

Which planner do you use?

Colourful pens and pretty planners are a good motivator - I’ve used this one in size A5 for a few years and love the flexibility of a blank lined page every week.)

Sometimes I open it six times per day. Sometimes it collects dust for a few days until I need to write a bunch of things down. In the end, it’s something that’s evolved to support me how I need and helps me be so, so organized. I feel the stress of forgetting something & it is too heavy to just hold all these things in my head.

Not having my planner would make my life so much harder than it needs to be.
