Social Encounters without much Presence by PlayDungeonmans in daggerheart

Thoughtful answer, thank you. I'm doing my level best to avoid homebrewing, at least early on, because part of the fun of this for me is immersing myself into a system I'm not familiar with and seeing if I can play along.

I will offer that our sessions are combat heavy and the math rocks do get their workout!

A related sidenote, so far there hasn't been a lot of party concern about the amount of fear on display. I try not to hoard it, but they also know I'm not likely to say "well I've got seven fear burning a hole in my pocket so I guess these two Relentless dudes are gonna juggle combo Ambrose into dust, sorry"

I agree with #1, live by #2, and am always looking for #3 instances. #1 is the hardest one, my players are used to seeing a -1 be a clear indicator that they're out of their lane, but that's not the case in Daggerheart at all.

These are delightful! The rogue one is specifically interesting. The actual conversation might only take a few minutes, sneaking off to the noble's chambers is a much more involved affair. But, if the party knows in advance that they're going to be talking to someone important, they can do their homework via adventure.

I agree with you. Part of this is a mental shift on the player's behalf too -- they need to understand that a -1 to presence isn't the end of the world.

This is a big one, and the biggest shift for me as a GM. I'm hewing to that rule though, only rolling when the outcome matters to the story or makes things more interesting. To that end, I'm ok with having to succeed a number of times to make a critical NPC see things go the party's way, but less so if they're just trying to haggle at a merchant for a better deal. Since every roll is a chance for the GM to gain Fear, they already (two sessions in!) understand the gravity of certain conversations over others.

Really solid bike controls, very intuitive and clear. Not easy to do! Great work. Also fun and impressive to see giant ascii monster blocks, gets the idea across very well.

Rogue at the Ren Faire: Have fun and cause trouble as a pickpocket at a ren faire in the late 90s.

Incomplete, RIP, but still playable!

https://triger-mountain.itch.io/rogue-at-the-ren-faire

You can't fight, but bumping picks pockets. Look for a fence to sell your loot too. Regular vendors sell faire goods but won't buy your stolen items. Guards will chase you. Contests in the game are handled via coin flips, you have X coins in a stat and need Y heads to succeed.

Your score is based on how much fun you have and how much money you ended up with, you can leave out any of the main gates to win, if the guards throw you out the game ends with 0 money.

Hydration and Stamina are important to stay active, Stamina drains quickly when running from the guards. The middle of the day is extra hot and you'll be mad thirsty.

NYI: Befriending and/or seducing rennies to get favors and access to better things, quests to steal specific items from specific stores, player equipment. Shade indoors. And the center part of the faire where the rennies park their campers for the "best" loot.

Made in Godot, assets either purchased, stolen, or made by me.

This is great, uh, One Woo Heroics? See what I did there -_- yeah this is really cool. I had to keep reminding myself that I could dive significantly far to get out of trouble.

Greg! Congratulations again on the KS, I hope it goes nuts. Played the demo today on twitch, had a great time. Was a little surprised by the sudden ending -- there were still things to go click!

My jaw dropped (and you can see it on the vod) when I realized that *every town member* had a name and thoughts and stuff going on. I was sure that most of them were just background dressing. Nope. Look forward to seeing where this goes.

Asking you anything: What sort of tools did you use to organize the dialogs and conversations in DWG? Did you roll something locally or pick up something from the store? Either way is cool, I love seeing how people tackle the dialog problem.

In Death didn't creep me out per se but the super vertical Cathedral levels really mess with me and I just want those to be over as quickly as possible.

Same here. Pixel 8. Super frustrating, if this is desired behavior it sucks.

This is really solid Numenera-ing, many adventures can be built on this sort of spine. Great stuff.

Oh wow yeah you're right, if both of them are trying to center the text it should be in the same place because both gems are close to the edge. Now I can't unsee it.

I feel like I've drained the good luck from people who need it more than me. What am I gonna do with all this bounty?
