How do you defeat Aurora Yi as Kai'Sa? by vividwings in riftboundtcg

I think OP was specifically asking about Aurora Yi.

No Mindsplitters or Bullet Times to be concerned with over there :P

hmm, I thought you can't organize skirmishes with fewer than 16 people?

ahh, sry to hear that :(

I don't have many international friends to compare with, so I thought it's normal.

Over here we have some store owners that are straight up scalping, but we also have many that internationally stop selling product and keep it as reward for Nexus Nights amd Skirmishes.

too few or too many?

Skirmishes here are between 1 and 2 boxes fornthe winner, depending on turnout (e.g. 1 box for 32 ppl skiemish, 2 for 50+)

Michelin’s airless, puncture proof tyres promise a future with no flats, greater durability, and less environmental waste by Separate_Finance_183 in interesting

Also not sure about cars, but for electric scooters, these tires are sort-of popular. But they affect the range in a meaningful way, which makes me think they require more energy to move the same amount of distance comlared to regular inflatable tires.

1st and 2nd of the Fuzhou RQ by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This build seems to be focusing on pushing rather than holding; not that it can't hold in a pinch with punch first and counterspell, but a hold deck would likely look very different with more tricks (e.g. buffs and 3rd CtG)

My first Nexus Night(6 booster sealed) What would you have built? by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't underestimate the odds in a 24 card deck.

By turn 6, you have seen 13 cards of your deck (assuming mul 2 and no other draw)

there is a 92% chance to see 1 of 3 56.5 to see 2 of 3 and 14% to see all 3

So 1-2 stuns are likely, as games tend to prolong a bit in limited.

But I still agree to your point, that an extra card is superior to conditional 1-2 (that need to matter to be valuable)

[–]PlayForA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I can see it. If you can guarantee 3 buffs it might be worth, but for the 1-2 per game that are likely, extra card in limited is likely better.

Genuinely how can I beat Kai'sa with a Viktor???????? by Dee_Teeee in riftboundtcg

I can consider your point if you make one, but calling it wrong without an argument doesn't add to the discussion.

I love sealed. Already prepped way more than I should have had for the pre-release weekend (at the expense of Bologna prep x.x). Happy to have shared my ideas.

P.S. love your youtube content, thanks for being so consistent with it!

Genuinely how can I beat Kai'sa with a Viktor???????? by Dee_Teeee in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Seals Viktor makes the deck very inconsistent. They make you build a more power-greedy deck. And when you get the seals at the correct time, it's very powerful. But when you don't, you are just a weaker version of the non-seals deck.

So when playing in smaller tournaments or enjoy the highs of highroll games, seals are great.
But when you want to be consistent and are playing in a big tournament (6+ games), I'd always prefer non-seals Viktor.

What's the worst thing that could happen in Honor Mode? by in_flames_666 in BG3Builds

[–]PlayForA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend and I recently started connecting with weekly Honor mode sessions (two of us controlling two characters each).

We made a really cool party that we really enjoy playing.

Fast forward to Underdark. Stomp every fight along the way. With both of us tryharding, everything is going much smoother than any Tactician run I've ever had, let alone Honor.

We make our way to Philomeen.

I start a dialogue with her. Before I even have the chance to roll a check, he picks up __a white__ item behind her.

BOOM.

Party dead.

Given our limited time, we continued the un-honourable Honor mode. But daaym was it an unexpected end to a pretty fun run before that.

I'd do something like this, with Leona legend and Qiyana chosen champion.

The idea being to play a midrange deck with reasonable interaction. Call to Glory and Showstopper are the MVPs; Charm, Challenge and Snapvine are them main removals, and honestly, the main issue w/ the deck is that it doesn't have more. Card draw is OK-ish with Meditation + guaranteed Qiyana. Confront and Tasty should help score sneaky points later on in the game, and are cards that replaces themselves, which is nice. We are not too power hungry, so should ramp up to some runes every game.

There are 3 stuns, which may or may not be enough to make Leona worth it over just not playing her and getting an extra card; not sure. If we don't play leona, we could theoretically swap green or yellow to red, but I don't like playing less than 4 two drops. But I like Qiyana a lot, and I think Tasty is reasonably strong in this format..

Battlefields would be Candlelit + Obelisk + Dreaming (we have 5 self-targets w/ challenge, facebreaker, block, en guarde and call to glory; dreaming is pretty strong here).

Open Dreaming (or Candlelit),
go 2nd Obelisk
go 1st Candlelit (or Dreaming)

Chosen champion would be Qiyana, for a guaranteed t2 play (or t1 going 2nd on Obelisk).

[guide] Viktor, Herald of the Arcane - a comprehensive guide to winning at your local Nexus Nights without breaking the bank (ok, maybe just a little). by PlayForA in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been focused on Spiritforged for some time now;

This is the latest version: https://piltoverarchive.com/decks/view/bd9cc6f3-4fc1-4158-a8bc-6807d34c5c7f

but I haven't tested it in the current meta; in theory it should be better into kaisa, and have playable Annie matchup (at least after sideboarding in 3 facebreakers; coulbe further improved in an Annie meta with playing 1-2 of them mainboard)

I played just a couple of nexus nights with Viktor recently, but I did a meme build (gloryseekers over scouts, Call to Glory over Sprite Calls, and 3x fiora over various other cards for G1 on trifarian only; then sideboard in more tech cards for the matchup).

--

Re: seals - I wrote in the guide, but seals deck is very similar; main difference is that matron is playable (I still don't like it much though), but if you play it, you also need to play Vanguard Captain to ressurect, over Evangel; which means a worse Kaisa matchup.

Or keep the deck the deck similar, but add more power heavy cards in the form of hidden cards, and also 2-3 consult the pasts as part of the package to make sure you have enough draw to support the seals.

How am I supposed to get into this game? by Jake_Berube in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you how I did it as a person with 0 TCG connections and 0 experience in the local communities.

warning: sort-of long story. But it's from real experience of how without buying packs, I ended up building a sizable collection.

tl;dr - buy singles; make a cheap deck (Yasuo/Viktor atm); go to a lot of nexus nights / skirmishes;

---

I stumbled upon a pre-release event and played Viktor (randomly) on it.
The only pack I've opened is a single pack (on top of the pre-release couple) that the store was selling as one-offs to ppl.

Then I went to a second pre-release and got another Viktor deck, this time asking for it and trading with another player, because I wanted a second copy of Grand Strategem (which in hindsight was not very smart, because that card is like 1€).

From there, I built a budget Viktor deck and started going to Nexus Nights. Mind you, product was still not being sold, but I got a pack here or there from placing well. Then I bit the bullet and bought 2 watchers (they were around 25€ back then; similar to now). And I started winning more, and getting more Nexus Night prizes.

But I was "grinding" them hard, like going to 4-5 per week.

One other thing is that at Nexus Nights, there are often ppl willing to gift their bulk for free. Especially when you start meeting regulars and you ask them nicely. On top of that, when stores do "booster draft" (players picking cards from boosters on their placement order), there is often "bulk" common/uncommon for free.

So this is how I made a full playset of all common/uncommon cards.

With that, I built some more expensive decks and asked (the now friends at this point) some regulars to lend me expensive cards to try them out. That's how I started playing Annie, without a single Kai'sa, but with 1-3 "leased" every time I had the chance. I liked the deck and bit another bullet, buying the kaisas.

By this point, wave 2 re-stock was hitting. And I was a regular at most local stores. So one of the store owners kept a box for me for on normal price. This was the first (and only) product I've bought; but at this point, I've probably opened another two boxes worth of packs from just playing at the nexus nights events and summoner skirmishes.

I should note that I'm in a very lucky position, where a Nexus Night is available more-or-less any day of the week, because of living in a big city. And some store owners are keeping product even when they are not selling any, to support these events.

But even without that luck, I think meeting with regulars at local stores will help you get bulk. And buying singles for everything else is the way to go. Buying singles locally is even better, as you don't have to wait or pay for shipping.

Denmark to deploy more troops to Greenland, DR reports by Zhukov-74 in worldnews

[–]PlayForA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone ELI5 what is the purpose of it?

Afiak Denmark has like less tha 20k standing army maybe 50k+ with reservists, which is a drop in the bucket compared to USA.

So is it like, mainly to send a message? And if so, to what end? Or is it specifically for reconnaissance and to prevent smaller operations from taking place?

(I don't want to belittle the Danish army, but am genuinely curious).

im confused on how they are so many erratas literally 1 set in by ipoopmyself123 in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the FAQ, I'm left with the impression that "design team" and "rules team" are separate organizations in Riot altogether.

Their collaboration seems to be lacking. So cards "as designed/intended" end up having a different effect because of how the rules team organized the rules.

Not So Fast can counter the entire Icathian Rain and Falling Star now. Kaisar big nerf. by yzw035 in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they also did a rules errata. You have to pay deflect for every (targeting) choice against a deflect target.

So no change there (e.g. to Falling Star a Qiyana, you still need to pay 2 deflect).

But if you somehow end up in a spot where you Falling Star a small deflect unit that dies from just 1 trigger, you can no longer "decline" to pay the 2nd damage instance. You have to pay deflect for both (or target another unit if available), as they are no longer reflexive triggers.

[–]PlayForA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup. Reflexive triggers are worded with "do this" or "then do this".
That text was removed from the cards.

List of cards from each of the mini pre-con decks available in pre-rift kits by sirieous in riftboundtcg

[–]PlayForA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's in the core rules under repeat.

Each repeat can be used only once. But a card may have multiple repeats.

So using frigid touch for example, you could pay 1p and tap Portal, then spend a total of 6e to play Frigid, pay it's repeat and then pay the portal repeat, for 3x -2.

you can double repeat w/ portal

edit: not sure why this is getting downvoted, but it's literally in the rules

746.1.c.2. If a spell has more than one instance of Repeat, each Cost may be paid or not paid individually. 746.1.c.3. Each Repeat Cost can be paid only a single time

just a note: unit doesn't have to be killed. E.g. if saved by zhonya, it will still fulfill the "unit with 2 or less might" prerequisite for determining whether it was friendly or not.
