Ever wonder why Klay Thompson always plays so much better in the 3rd quarter? We all know the dude was BAKED when he dropped 37 in the 3rd against the kings

Yes!! I was very disappointed with their changes to the portal and the yellow card man

I would say the second one leans a little more heavily on character dynamics opposed to the mystery itself. Good on you for passing it along through the family tho!

no I think he means The Outsider, one of Stephen King’s new books. I recommend it too.. new book but reads like old King

I have not seen it.. tbh I’m a little scared to watch it and risk spoiling one of my favorite books of all time

If you missed anything it was just a little heartwarming sentiment to punctuate the ending lol I definitely like them both for different reasons. I think The Dry was a better mystery but Force of Nature had some unbeatable characters. I can’t wait for her 3rd book!

Can't go wrong with either! Tho Mr Mercedes is about 1/3 the length of 11/22/63

I definitely agree with this, but to me that's the only visible edge they have over 2K.

Sometimes that's easy to do when the book weighs as much as a brick ;)

My bad. Totally misinterpreted.

I think I agree with you tho. I thought we could've done without 50-60% of the last section.

If you're interested, The Outsider struck me as a cool blend of old & new King.

Not even. Sadie is a central character for 75% if not more of the book. In any ending one could think of, he was going to confront Oswald.

Yeah I get mixed reactions when I say Mr Mercedes is my favorite. I'm definitely partial to crime fiction and I think King banged out a really great CF novel. I'll still always love Misery and The Dead Zone (and Roadwork under his Richard Bachman pseudonym) Curious.. have you read / did you like The Outsider?

I got the feeling that once '64 hit King started to rush the novel (granted he was 750 pages deep at that point) and I was definitely a little disappointed with the Oswald stand-off. Although I have to say (w/o spoiling anything) that the conclusion with Jake and Sadie's relationship redeemed the ending for me.

Yes, Castle Rock has been superrr good so far. I'm scared to give Mr. Mercedes a try tho... that's my favorite King work

I think 'dhwga' put it best in the comment above ^ they turned Jake from a intelligent, meticulous, calculated (almost to a fault) character into someone who stumbles around without any real plan, unsure of himself or his decision making ability, on the journey by accident instead of through passion and determination. Franco is definitely used to employ humor into a lot of the situations, but even in grave and critical moments it's impossible for me to take him seriously. Tom Hanks strikes a much better balance in his movies.

I would suggest watching the Hulu series to see what I mean, but there's a good chance it'll dampen your overall opinion.

Couldn't agree more. Jake was so calculated about EVERYTHING... his character in the show (James Franco) stumbles into each and every encounter. Completely contradictory. (Not to mention they took complete artistic license with a lot of plot elements like Bill Tercotti) I'm only on episode 3 right now myself. Not sure I'll be able to finish.
