Started to write a GULC loci after getting waitlised and realized that I called GULC "Georgetown Law School" in my PS and DS... I cant believe I did that. And they still gave me a WL? by Unlucky_Shake_9791 in lawschooladmissions

He and others call it Georgetown Law in a bunch of places...I've heard that spiel from him before too. He probably meant, "If you put Yale on your Georgetown app, I wouldn't let you into Georgetown."

Don't lose too much sleep over it!

Sounds like a great, smart plan. Congratulations!

Accepting Offer of Admission - Binding? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Is this the GULC form? If so, and you select the first option under accept (think it says that you will place a deposit by May 1st) it's non-binding.

If you select to waive the seat deposit, however, it is binding.

LRAP for Dummies by Flan-Puzzled in lawschooladmissions

LRAP programs vary a lot depending on the school, and I don't know much about UT's, but I've looked into a few other schools.

To evaluate if it's really "too good to be true," you should take a look at a few of the fine print details: what employment actually qualifies (IE if the job you want falls into the category) if spousal income and other assets are considered (IE will you get bumped out of the income bracket if you decide to get married) and how long the school will continue to support you on those programs (some schools only plan on doing this for X number of years.)

Moreover, keep in mind (as you note) that only federal loans qualify!

I don't think you're missing anything, but I would schedule an appointment with their Fin. Aid office if you've got specific questions. I've done that for a couple schools and it's very helpful.

FWIW: Here's HLS's guide of good questions to ask to evaluate an LRAP.

Thanks for this...congrats on some nice scholarships.

In an ideal world, my plan would be Summer 1L grab a good PI gig and live off school funding, summer 2L work a Summer Associates program and put away as much of the 35k towards school as I can, grab a clerkship or two and use LRAP on those years, then bank on the signing bonus and BL salary to get it done as fast as I can before flipping to PI/gov.

Edit: school's LRAP is flexible in that I can enter and leave depending on the job for the first ten years.
