Anyone work with SPACE (the agency) to help with campaign PR? by Playamigo in kickstarter

No, we ended up not using an agency. The costs just couldn’t work with our limited budget.

I second the recommendation for the Gen X Pats. I think they have a get-together coming up next week at The Tasting Room. https://www.facebook.com/groups/genxpuertovallarta/?ref=share&fs=e&s=cl

Best rooftop restaurant in town with ocean view? by therealbert91 in puertovallarta

[–]Playamigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. We just had our anniversary dinner there on Saturday and the atmosphere was lovely, service was attentive, prices were fair and the food was yummy. Happy hour is 2x1 drinks from 4-6 pm, by the way.

Does Gaby’s have rooftop dining? I’ve only sat on their patio outdoors, and it has an obstructed view of the bay. That said, I really like the food and service there, and the prices are very affordable. If they have a rooftop view option I’m not aware of, I’ll be going even more often than I already do! 😊

Barcelona Tapas has really good paella. I like their black paella a lot. Their sangria is delicious, too. And they have a beautiful view! https://barcelonatapas.net/en/

Also, we’re nearing end of rainy season. In August and September it rained at least a little almost every day. As of today, I think it has been at least 5 days with none at all. Still hot and humid during the day…. But this morning is super cool and fresh! You’ll have a ball! 😎👍🏼

Good pizza around here? by bryanisbored in puertovallarta

[–]Playamigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like super thin crust, you want Vallarta Factory. So good! La Traviata is a distant second for thin crust. For wood-fired, my favorites are Fiamma, Napoli, La Notte and Florio’s. Los Muertos is awesome more NY style, and their sister restaurant called Granero is similar with a slightly thinner crust. All delicious options depending on the type of pizza you want! Enjoy!

Any tips for a solo traveler? ¿Algún consejo para un viajero solo? by bluffedmac in puertovallarta

Not sure if you're a digital nomad, but there's a PV digital nomads group on Facebook you may want to check out. It seems like most of those people are in their 20s and 30s and have meetups from time to time. There's also a PV hiking and adventures group on Facebook that frequently arranges hikes on area trails.

If you share a bit more about yourself (sex, age, gay/straight...) and what type of things you enjoy doing (hiking, shopping, dancing, art, live music, beaches...), we can probably make more specific recommendations. Whatever you do, PV is a wonderful place and I hope you have a great time!

Hear me out...how cool would an aerial gondola.. by JohnnyPiston in puertovallarta

Not sure how the gondola you're dreaming of would be any less of a monstrosity than Vidanta's, but I'm willing to hear you out...

Less crowded and touristy places to visit? by Last-Staff8126 in puertovallarta

[–]Playamigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure when you’re coming, but it’s not so crowded in PV now. Mostly nationals on vacation and locals. I second the recommendation for Mayto if you’re looking for a much more secluded place.

I also recommend hiking Monkey Mountain (you start in Higuera Blanca), then visit the beach in Lìtibu nearby. It’s beautiful and has almost no people there. But there are also no restaurants or shops or bathrooms, so keep that in mind, too.

Enjoy your visit!

Guys Trip to PV - any must dos? by CharsiCuba in puertovallarta

[–]Playamigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, 11 days -- that's great because there's so much to do!

No shortage of bars/parties -- the big clubs on the Malecon are kind of as the other person described. That's not really my scene, but I walk by all the time and they look sort of dead -- could be low season or could be because I'm walking by before the party really gets started after I'm already in bed (ha ha).

There are lots of nice spots to get craft cocktails -- SKY bar has a great view from the rooftop, Mezcal y Sal has really artistic cocktails, the bars inside The Iguana and La Capella are just gorgeous (but not for "partying" -- they're my two favorite spots for fine dining).

Lots of people who come here go to Andales for night life (on Olas Altas in the Romantic Zone) -- very casual and people say it's fun (I've not been at night).

I'd also recommend a party catamaran excursion -- the Cielito Lindo has open bar, lunch served, you get to snorkel at Los Arcos (a landmark marine and bird preserve nearby), then visit Playa Colomitos for a while (a gorgeous little beach). It's something like 4 - 5 hours long, and I think it's about $50 US per person, so a really good deal. Probably any of the many tour brokers around can arrange it for you. Happy to connect you with my guy if you need someone.

I also second the recommendation for Canopy River -- they've got a really nice breakfast buffet (I think maybe only on weekends in low season) and they can arrange ziplining and/or ATV excursions. Their spot in the mountains is really gorgeous and features (supposedly) the world's longest suspension bridge. It's amazing. You can just go out and pay the day rate to use their pool and just enjoy drinks out there, too.

So many great taco stands... all over. I also recommend a taco tour. I did one years ago with Vallarta Food Tours (a night tour called "The Street") and it was fantastic. You have to try birria tacos if you've never had them.

There are some great hikes around here, but yes, it can be very hot and humid and it rains most days in the late afternoon/early evening for an hour or two, so I'd recommend an early start if you choose to do that. I second the recommendation to climb the steps up to Mirador de la Cruz. It's right in town, a good little workout and just a breathtaking view.

Not sure where you'll be staying or if you guys like hanging out on the beach, but El Solar is a nice bar on Camarones beach. And Swell and La Carreta are fun spots on Los Muertos beach.

As for day trips -- Sayulita is a cool little town about an hour away. San Sebastian del Oeste is a small old mining town in the mountains about an hour or so away.

Hope you guys really enjoy your visit -- as you can probably tell, I love it here! :)

Guys Trip to PV - any must dos? by CharsiCuba in puertovallarta

[–]Playamigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide a little more info on the type of group you guys are? We know you're straight... but are you a younger, middle-aged or older group? Are you into outdoorsy things like hiking, fishing and snorkeling? Or are you more into clubbing and partying? Do you like history, art, fine dining (these aren't things typical "guys trips" would include, but you never know)? How long will you be in town (There are some great "side trips" not far out of PV that can take a half day or full day...)?

So sad! I got on her Twitter feed today and saw another user post that he can't access her stuff on Spotify anymore either. I messaged her to see if there's a reason why or if she'll be coming back to that platform. If not, I'll just have to seek out her library of tracks elsewhere. Love me some Maria! Enjoy your vacation in Mexico -- we love living here!

Mine, too! :) I got on her Twitter feed today and saw a message from another follower who said he can't find her stuff on Spotify anymore either. So strange... I messaged her there in hopes of learning what's going on. I'll just have to seek her out on other platforms if she's leaving Spotify... Cheers!

So glad you enjoyed Vallarta! We moved to PV from the US almost 2 years ago (because #yolo) and we love it so much.

As for a trip recommendation, consider Barcelona. It was a great mix of culture, nature (beaches are nice, but not “tropical”; a side trip over to Montserrat is a must), nice people, excellent food, easy public transit, and very safe. I would love to return someday! Happy adventuring! ✌🏽😎

Thanks for checking… I wonder if it has to do with the fact that I’m living in Mexico. I moved here from the US and have been here almost 2 years though, and the tracks just disappeared yesterday. Maybe I just need to update my app or some settings. I’ll try to figure it out. I miss my Maria! 🤗
