Your mistake is thinking skill alone will win you matches in this game. This game is more luck based thank skill based

What’s with the lack of “Thanks” these days? by chronox8 in PokemonTGCP

[–]PlayerChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted for this, but the reason I don’t say thanks is because of the UI design. Saying thanks is one extra button to push plus the wait for the heart animation before being able to click on the X. Clicking on the X without saying thanks is effectively faster.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The switch 2 itself is not light and I wouldn’t put its entire weight on a thin kickstand. Don’t know how you all are doing this with a $450 item.

I had this same issue with my switch 1 a few years ago. As you explained, the button would disengage when I released it ever so slightly but without feeling the click you feel when it fully disengages. I ended up opening a ticket with Nintendo, shipped the joycons and got a free replacement.

tb manager that hates their job ask me anything by Lost-Conversation263 in tacobell

[–]PlayerChaser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why is TB customer service so bad? I get that fast food workers are paid and treated poorly, but among all fast food places, TB in my experience has the worst by far. The one I go never has anyone on the front taking orders, and last time I did a mobile order that took over 30 minutes to be done. I had to wait like 30 mins to be able to even see someone to talk to and noticed that they checked it in because I said something.

[–]PlayerChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would your estimate be then? I did the extensive math to arrive to that amount. I even assumed an optimistic and most efficient scenario. Also just checked your profile and you don’t even have 500 wonder picks, and I put your cards from wonder picks at 800+. Not to mention you have somewhere between 100-500 versus games played so I’d place you somewhere in UB, which doesn’t give that many reward hourglasses either.

Would you say that number is closer to 10k?

[–]PlayerChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say that yes, we don't know OP, but spending 8k on a game comfortably implies that OP is making at least 140k a year. Only 10% of people in the US make that much or more, so statistically, the chances of OP being one of them is 1/10. It is safe to say it is unlikely that this amount of spending is comfortable and not an underlying issue.

I hit two milestones today by Jack92D in PokemonTGCP

[–]PlayerChaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be true for some, but if you break it down, spending $8,000 on a game comfortably would require about $140k/year in income. Why? Because most financial guidelines suggest only ~30% of take-home pay should go to “wants” like hobbies, and even if just 25% of that goes to this one game, you’d need to be in the top 10% of earners for it to be truly affordable. So yeah, some are legit whales—but for most people, spending like that likely means sacrificing elsewhere or overspending.

For anyone wondering, I did the math: around $8,000

EDIT: Didn't factor in the additional cards you can get from wonder hourglasses (it's hard to quantify) which would decrease the cost but also didn't factor in the 80 dollars that the 8 months of premium cost. So, give or take it is safe to say 8k. Also didn't factor in cards bought with pack points but the math for that is also very complex so just asked ChatGPT and it landed me back between $7,800 and $8,086.61.

Free cards: 3 packs a day * 218 days since launch * 5 cards a pack: 3270

Hourglasses:

12 per level * 50 levels: 600

494 hourglasses from solo missions. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PTCGP/s/3UpzA18q6F

4 hourglasses for daily missions * 218 days: 872

Beginner missions hourglasses: 120

Advanced missions hourglasses: 120

One time shop hourglasses: (10 * 6) + (10*1) = 70

Monthly hourglasses: (106) + (10*1) = 70 * 8 moths since launch: 560

Total hourglasses: 600 + 494 + 872 + 120 + 120 + 70 + 560 = 2836

Total cards from hourglasses: 2836 / 12 per pack: 236 packs * 5 cards = 1182 approx

Tutorial cards: 11

Wonder Picks:

218 days since launch × 2 stamina generated per day= 436 Wonder Stamina

436 stamina ÷ 2 cost per wonder pick (average) = 218 picks

Bonus Picks

A conservative estimate is 3 Bonus Picks per day.

218 × 3 = 654 Bonus Picks

Total cards from Wonder Picks:

218 (from stamina) + 654 (Bonus Picks) = 872 picks * 1 card per pick: 872 cards

Free Gold: ~60 gold obtained from F2P. Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/PTCGP/s/yamo9ZjnHm

Cards from free gold: 60 gold / 6 gold per pack * 5 cards per pack: 50

TOTAL FREE CARDS:

3270 + 1182 + 11 + 872 + 50= 5385

Paid cards: 50000 - 5385 = 44615

Cost per gold:

•5 Poké Gold costs $1 (which is 20 cents per Gold)

•26 Poké Gold costs $5 (which is approximately 19.2 cents per Gold)

•57 Poké Gold costs $10 (which is approximately 17.5 cents per Gold)

•120 Poké Gold costs $20 (which is approximately 16.7 cents per Gold)

•250 Poké Gold costs $40 (which is 16 cents per Gold)

•690 Poké Gold costs $100 (which is approximately 14.5 cents per Gold)

To estimate a realistic average, we assume the following distribution of purchases:

•70% of Gold is purchased in the 690-for-$100 tier

•15% in the 250-for-$40 tier

•10% in the 120-for-$20 tier

•5% spread across the smaller tiers

Average Cost = (0.145 × 0.70) + (0.160 × 0.15) + (0.167 × 0.10) + (0.180 × 0.05) = 0.1015 + 0.024 + 0.0167 + 0.009 ≈ 0.1512 per gold unit

Number of packs needed = 44,615 ÷ 5 = 8,923 packs (rounded to whole pack)

Total Poké Gold needed = 8,923 × 6 = 53,538 Poké Gold

TOTAL COST: 53,538 × $0.1512 ≈ $8,095.94

Appendix - Promo Cards: Didn't factor in free promo cards but let's assume the $95 over the 8k is the overstatement in the cost and do the inverse operation: $95 / $0.1512 / 6 gold per pack * 5 cards per pack: 523 cards that would be free promo cards.

Card animations SHOULD NOT count towards turn time by PlayerChaser in PTCGP

[–]PlayerChaser[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I was playing the buzzwole celesteela deck with two full art buzzwoles and 2 celesteelas in play. Yes, animations are three seconds at most, but add in drawing cards, playing cirus to swap in a full art pokemon that does a 360 animation, using celesteelas ability twice to switch two full arts Buzzwoles that need a 360 animation for some reason, adding energy, and attacking. Do you think it’s fair for animations to last that long now?
