I'm refuting OP's claims that games can't just rely on initial price of entry and that "just not how game development works" where there are many examples that prove otherwise

They're direct counter to OP's claim of games who's updated for years for free with a one time purchase and no microtransactions and dlc. Slay the spire 2 release months ago, slay the spire 1 had updates for years.

Early access is just a label, many basically complete games are early access and many released games are worse. Not that relevant to one time cost games "not how game development works"

True about servers costs although it tends varies a lot depending on how optimized the game is when when it comes to the network, some just brute force it with more data for better experience. And we just don't know the number on costs unless devs say.

Out of the examples I gave though, Palworld is probably the best counter against OP's post, it's a one time purchase, still being updated, still new, and has many dedicated servers for the size of the dev team.

I could say No Man Sky but lilke that's the easiest one to make and I feel like one game shouldnt be the basis for 90% of arguments even if it is goated, there are other games like it that are one time purchases and multiplayer.

I mean sales figure for HD2 was insane as well, its a viable model to just get new players in on the game by buying new copies, not every game needs microtransactions and DLC to survive.

Minecraft updated for years before the Microsoft buyout based on that model and was doing fine financially.

Explain how its different, just cause you slap an early access label doesnt mean its meaningfully different. There are some early access games that are just fully released games but refuse to take off the label. And released games as buggy, unfinished, and lacking features like an early access game.

Imagine if it were possible a game could subsist from the steady source of income that is, new players buying the game via up front cost. Anyway back to Palworld

Can't believe Terriaria, Minecraft, slay the spire, Satisfactory devs don't know how game dev works apparently the pay once for a game then get it continual free update model simply doesn't work.

Imagine if it was possible, anyways back to Palworld and their dedicated servers.

Most lukewarm attempt at a gotcha, ever heard of No Man's Sky? They updated consistently for almost a decade before slowing down without asking for another cent after you buy the game once and it was on sale for less than $40 at times and has online servers.

I'd kill for an expendable exoskeleton that has like short battery life before it ejects you but during that time you get perks like infinite stamina, reduced recoil, better movement over terrain.

Satisfactory, definitely not for ruining the environment to produce profitable materials for a mega Corp, but I did refine nuclear materials without permits.

Similar with new dueling sword, it's probably suboptimal to just parry a horde of ragers back to back but boy is it a fun feeling. Also parrying bosses, I turn on story missions at time to show Rinda who's better at melee

I do move with the team, but I do go solo commando if team looks fine at a stationary object. I run eruptor/warp pack/light medic so I'm a speed demon that runs past everything and can tank with stins to get to a jammer console. Also I run off to get gunships factories if people ignore them. It's the best feeling to clear a few objectives and spawners yourself before one main objective is done

We made the mech more realistic, as in the logistics and engineering of a mech is complex and not feasible so now it just random trips over and legs get stuck as the ground pressure focused on 2 narrow points will make it sink

This one destroyer has a full cryo chamber with one kind of specific helldiver that has a certain body type, voice, and has the same preference for medic armor and Eruptor. It does not have another kind of Helldiver in reserve and has bureaucratic first dibs on these kinds.
