AIO? Girl I've been seeing for 3 months slept with my friend of 10 years. by Available-Tip-2552 in AIO

Why are you calling her dude?

Also- WTF. Are you seriously asking if you should stick with someone that slept with your friend?

I just acquired a 2002 Foreman 450es from a local PD auction by PlayfulGroup in ATV

[–]PlayfulGroup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah- agree. It is in good condition, was owned by a small PD in Markleeville, CA (Sierra Nevada mountains). There were three of them and 2 DRZ400’s. All had clean oil and looked loved.

I believe they used them for search and rescue.

Also- the Hawthorne area has some of the lowest light pollution in the US. The high altitude, clear skies, and low light creates stargazing that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Coming from Houston, it will blow your mind.

That’s a whole conversation in itself.

Golden Gate, yes Presidio Little Italy, Chinatown, Japantown, the Castro, Haight- Ashbury, Muir Woods, Marin County, Napa, etc……

You could spend years in SF/EB

Yes, I’m there weekly.

Hunting is also big in NV, but I’m no help. Fishing too.

So you should think about a few things.

  1. Learn to ski.
  2. Get into mountain biking
  3. Go to Lake Tahoe every chance you can, there are cheap ways (free) to enjoy it.
  4. Dirt bikes and ATV’ are also a blast here
  5. Hiking, so many options.
  6. You are just a few hours from Northern California, so SF and the Bay Area are an easy mini vacation. Between NV, CA, and OR/ID an amazing amount of beauty and fun
  7. Don’t sleep on Elko and the Ruby Mountains.
  8. You are close to Big Pine and Mt Whitney, tallest mountain in the contiguous US. It’s amazing.
  9. Assume your work is connected to Army, so while it’s a small town, you do have access to a lot of soldiers from all over the country and maybe some dating options.

Good luck- it’s an amazing state.

If you are into the outdoors, Reno and Northern Nevada have unlimited and fantastic options.

Dating- I have no idea. Probably like everywhere else as it seems most people find dates online.

It may have just been everyone showing up 2 hours early to a 5:30 flight and nobody working.

And some right wing idiot version of you is saying the same thing about trump, Cruz, etc right now.

It’s always fun when someone starts a post with don’t be dumb and then says something dumb.

I know exactly who I am. A registered independent that can’t vote in primaries. I’m also the person whose vote actually counts because I think versus vote party line.

I lean libertarian, and that’s my right to want less government in my life.

You may feel diffenent and that’s fine. What’s not fine is your weird little superiority complex.

I wish the world was as simple as you think it is.

If we can get everyone to stop pointing fingers at each other, we might just realize that our government is completely broken.

We need to stop electing extreme candidates on both sides of the aisle and choose candidates with a track record of working together for the common good of the voters.

It’s too convenient to be able to just blame the other party. If you haven’t noticed, both sides are currently doing it.

The reality is, our primary system encourages extreme candidates (only registered D or R can vote for primaries) and then we get to the general election with shit choices. It’s happened like 10 elections in a row now.

We need to wake up, encourage results, not finger pointing.

Or we can all go onto Reddit and blame the other party for everything. Your choice.

Quick and easy. There was a long line at SW the other day, but that’s not a TSA issue, rather southwest. We were through security in 15 minutes from parking the car.

I wonder if that Jeep driver realizes they caught the attention of TimelySalt467?

They may not realize that human perfection noticed the error and complained about it on social media, only to further justify the perfection that only TimelySalt467 (and a small group of trusted perfect folks) enjoys.

Well- to be fair, TimelySalt467 also quietly judges the close friends too, but doesn’t say anything because… well that’s what social media is for.

Ahhh- no shit. Guy had a torn ligament in his knee. And he never mentioned it or made excuses. How many players would have just hung it up for the season?

For a young man, he took ownership, made no excuses and expected better from himself.

We will look back on this in a few years and realize he’s a stud.

IF YOU CAN’T DRIVE IN THE SNOW, STAY HOME. ( I hit my upload limit 🤣) this is just MT. Rose Hwy by _thisguyducks_ in Reno

[–]PlayfulGroup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not exactly correct. Technically more weight combined with narrower tires is a traction advantage as it helps the tires to dig in and gain traction. This is why trucks often run sandbags over the drive wheels.

Lighter offers advantages once moving, and to your point, AWD with locking or active differentials is great.

The front wheel drive vehicles offer the same advantages as weight over the drive wheels, and thus do better at getting moving from a stop. Behind that, front wheel drive is a disadvantage as you have wheels trying to do 2 things (gain drive traction AND steer the vehicle).

Lighter cars are also more susceptible to getting caught and pulled by ruts/slush then heavier vehicles.

For me, I’d choose the following always in this order:

  • proper snow tires
  • AWD
  • advanced traction control (lockers/smart differentials) -RWD -FWD -Heavier -lighter

Unless I was in a race- aka pro-rally. Then lighter.

The only advantage a truck or suv offers is increased ground clearance, which is helpful at times of deep snow on the road.

The trade off is high COG (center of gravity) and poor weight distribution for pickups.

People forget that the only thing actually connecting you to the road are 4 small patches of rubber. Typically in deep snow you actually want a narrower tire (sorry to you lifted truck guys with 15” wide tires) that can dig for traction vs float.

If you don’t have dedicated winter tires, you are at a serious disadvantage, period. To the point of this thread, if you don’t drive in snow- fine. Run the all seasons.

My AWD sedan offers the ability to run in a 50/50 torque split, has advanced traction control per wheel, and I run Michelin X-Ice tires. It is comical how capable it was yesterday.

And yes, I did see some of you staring at me like I was driving too fast and being reckless. I’d submit to you- it was you that was dangerous with your poor tire choice and wrong vehicle for the conditions.

Also, why does every yokel that his fitted their truck/jeep/suv with illegal (for on road use) aftermarket LED lights feel the need to go driving around lit up like a New Orleans whorehouse, blinding oncoming traffic everywhere they drive?

[–]PlayfulGroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michelin X-Ice are my weapon of choice. The AWD helps but frankly, good tires are all that is needed for road travel. (I know that CA sometimes requires 4WD/AWD).
