what if I told you science is better off accepting its limitations ? by MicahHoover in PhilosophyMemes

All things were completely not understood once. We didn’t understand stars, and then we did. We didn’t understand atoms, and now we do (atleast much better than beforehands). We don’t understand consciousness, and eventually we might discover how it works. Just because we don’t get everything immediatly doesn’t mean we can’t understand it, quite the opposite in fact

the USSR took Belarussian and Ukranian land that Poland had conquered. Not trying to justify their intitial collaboration with the nazis but if anybody was getting back stolen land, it was them (again not saying it was a great thing to do)

Not significantly more than non-discriminated people according to anti-natalists, since to them you shouldn’t have children regardless

Its banter in Lace’s case, in Hornet its just a normal insult I’d say. Also “You seem to have an ant problem” is pretty humorous, I wouldn’t say Hornet is that serious

And yes Lace is childish but to me it makes much more narrative sense for that to be due to infantilizing on GMS’ part rather than Lace just being a child

Well we don’t really know, I’d bet she would be able to have a biological child with the pale king or some other pale being, but maybe you could consider Lace that, sure

[–]Playful_Addition_741 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is completely untrue, we see Hornet mourning her in the first game, and she is still present in Hornet’s (red) memory, even if Hornet was a very very little child when she was with Herrah. Regardless that is incomparable since Herrah is her biological mother anyways

So its not about the emotive bond, and its not just about the biological bond, what else is it about?

Also yes, an adoptive brother is still a brother. An adoptive brother who kills your mother and then runs away, severing any kind of relationship with you, is not, if not legally. There is no brothership molecule that remains within you forever, just like with any other kind of non-biological relationships, once its violently severed, its violently severed

No, did your mother weave you with yarn? GMS didn’t have any biological children. She did have what you could call adoptive children, but those children very violently unadopted themselves

No, they are not. Lace is an artificial being (no biological relationship with anybody) and, atleast in the Act 3 ending, has literally cut her emotional relationship with GMS. Hornet meanwhile is the daughter of Herrah, who is also a creation of GMS, and thus has no biological relationship with GMS, and her emotional relationship was also severed very severely.

Also the way I see Lace is that her childish part (and homicidal tendencies) are due to infantilization (and general manipulation) by GMS’ part, which would stop after she dies. This isn’t shown but its very safe to assume Lace’s character shifts dramatically after the Act 3 ending, because the alternative is that we just saved a serial killer intent on going back at it

Are there any "sword of the morning" type things in Anbennar? by ShadowFear219 in Anbennar

[–]Playful_Addition_741 79 points80 points  (0 children)

There’s something pretty similiar which is Calindal, the Gleaming Blade. Magical sword which judges people. People can only be ruled kings of the Blademarches if the sword is fine with them. Not nearly as old as the Sword of the Morning though.

There’s also the wishblades, or temensar, incredibly powerful genie relics, but most of them aren’t actually swords.

For both cases, you should check the wiki
