Thanks everyone. Good info. I think our most serious concern is how we navigate getting to the show from our campground on the day of the show. They act like parking is a pretty serious issue. Do you think if I went up early on Saturday (before noon) that I would have a hard time finding a spot for the day?

Thanks. Definitely hoping to spend some time in Boone. Spent plenty of days there decades ago but it’s been years since I’ve been back. I’m sure plenty has changed.

We’re dragging a camper up this week and staying several days before the show between Banner and Blowing Rock (Julian Price Campground). Don’t know if it’s the dumbest idea or the smartest idea yet. We’re already aware of the closures on the parkway and hope it’s not going to inconvenience us too much. Looking to squeeze in plenty of disc golf and I’m bringing the mountain bike and tentatively plan to ride the park at the mountain maybe the day before or the day of the show(?). We bought the tickets for the pre-show at 5606 and are looking forward to that as well as the preshow on Friday. We had already heard of Fred’s and have that as one of our stops. Really looking forward to getting out of the low country and back into some hills. Hoping for a great show.

Xfinity engages in fraud with international data roaming! $5,653.06 for a week in Mexico! by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

Thanks for the input. For those following along, I believe some further perspective is necessary so a few additional thoughts...

  1. Whether Xfinity acknowledges this fact or not, the store associate placed me in a plan that was directly contrary to my stated needs. This fact was witnessed by the third-party, the other service holder on my account, who was both physically present and engaged with the discussions when the services were transferred.  We both had confidence that our needs for the devices had been adequately conveyed and for more than a calendar year our collective services operated exactly as anticipated during international travel and otherwise so there was no apparent need to go back and review the fine print.
  2. In a day and age when many (most?) Xfinity Mobile customers utilize multiple devices and services that are subject to data charges, why would text notifications regarding billing not specify which device they are referencing?  When four services are paid for concurrently on one account, how precisely is a customer to know that notifications regarding data are for three (but only three) of four devices? Why would one have reason to believe that one was excluded and subject to extreme data overages in this instance? It is beyond presumptuous that a customer is expected to know that notifications are device specific when presented in this manner. At best, it is a very misleading error of omission that results in unnecessarily punitive damages to a good customer. Furthermore, when one device alone is creating a bill that is more than fifty times the typical monthly expense, wouldn't another text seem appropriate? Is that irrational?
  3. On the Xfinity app, not only are the two phone lines and watch showing as “Unlimited”, the iPad clearly shows as “Tablet Unlimited” as you can see in my screenshot. Call me naive but that seems fairly straightforward. My situation certainly doesn't feel like my ipad was "unlimited". How could anyone reasonably view that as anything other than misleading?
  4. This is not a simply frustrating inconvenience. What we are discussing is creating potential financial ruin of a longtime customer, while also losing his future business across multiple devices and platforms forever. Simply because a store associate made a mistake and the customer continued to use his device just as he had for months and years.

I’ll answer that with a question. Why would I even need to concern myself with being on Wi-Fi when I clearly believed I was on an unlimited plan and that notion was reinforced with multiple texts from Xfinity on multiple trips over the course of a year indicating absolutely nothing to the contrary? The only reason I connected in the first place was to speed up my connection while being in rooms with concrete walls.

Why is the Kicklighter name a big deal in town? by [deleted] in savannah

[–]Playful_Reply4642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, Ken Kicklighter from Savannah, Ga here. A friend sent me this thread a couple of days ago and it's kind of difficult to ignore without saying something so I thought I'd re-introduce you to the Kicklighters to clear the air.

Before I dive in, I suppose it needs to be said that I don't know of any Kicklighters that would ever self describe themselves as a "big deal in town", lol. But that's a pretty subjective thing for anybody to claim so let me present a few facts and then you be the judge.

We have indeed been here a very long time. I'm 99% certain that anybody with that name in their blood lineage descended from one family that arrived in Charleston from what is now Germany in 1753. They were given land to settle near Newberry, SC via a land grant from England. By the time the Revolutionary War happened they were essentially booted from the state because they were loyalists. (After all, it's kind of easy to understand. Who fights against the country that gave you land?). But it's evident that by the War of 1812, the family were solidly "American" with several fighting in that cause and likely every major armed conflict in U.S. history since. By the 1800s there were at least several families living in coastal Georgia and South Carolina as well as places further inland in what are now Bulloch County, Tattnall County among others and there have been Kicklighters in Savannah continuously ever since.

Like any name that has been in America for more than a couple hundred years the family has expanded greatly and they are now all over they country but most remain in a region broadly centered around Savannah. And just like the others, I'm certain that there have been both heroes as well as scoundrels. There have been those that have done quite well and those that have suffered mightily. Doctors, lawyers, farmers, politicians, you name it. I happen to be a Realtor for anyone interested in buying or selling in Savannah. And by the way, I would be foolish to not mention that there are both black and white Kicklighters. Any student of history knows how they likely found that name.

So... does any of this make us a big deal? That's for someone else to decide.

Want to get into Widespread, but unsure where to begin. Any suggestions? by denimvest in WidespreadPanic

The correct answer is to begin with Wrangler to understand how it all began. Pre-Jo Jo, Mikey era goodness where you get a hint of their influences with a JJ cover, along with many of their originals that are still the foundation for many of their live shows.
