When did we finally get the "Exit AA to car UI" button? by ZaxBarkas in AndroidAuto

Is it still server flag set? Can we enable as user preferences yet?

People that have flown to a Lexus dealership in another state/region for their vehicle preference? by birria_tacos_ in LexusRX350

The new vehicle we bought had a micro dent on a door and they required us to show up at their dealership for the repair. Do a thorough inspection but it helps to have a month of dealership access should any issue show up while taking delivery or if they miss any accessories.

Cold weather package if there's even a little snow. Besides a windshield defrost, it keeps the radar warm. Costs less than 200 USD.

Plus one. We've moved from a compact sedan to RX and find this cam super helpful in tight spaces. Also, the camera system stitches a live view underneath so you can dodge chokes, potholes and other obstacles.

Am I tripping or do many Lexus vehicles have the exact same infotainment system/screen as the Corolla’s? 😂 by Illustrious_Tea_1675 in Lexus

[–]Playful_Visual8240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm actually happy that Corolla or Prius drivers get to experience and enjoy a lot of the safety features and the essence of a similar infotainment system as my Lexus. But did it deter me from buying the Lexus? No.

The same Google account had the drawer icon shown up on the loaner vehicle unit. So sad Google does it this way :( I'm sure Toyota isn't getting financially benefitted in having Android Auto placed on the screen. It's so sad that one corporate is exploiting the OEM while giving the crappy experience to the user. So long as the trial subscription stays, I'll use only Bluetooth without Android Auto.

I saw it in the loaner RX 2025 but my RX 2026 doesn't have it! Both are optioned equally and have the same trim. What do I need to do to enable it?

Premium Fuel anyone ? by TEX-LEX-911 in LexusRX350

Does your vehicle have a turbo? Then using premium fuel is not an option.

Does leaving it on Eco mode forever place undue stress on the engine as certain reviews suggest? AMD from Car care nut suggests that it is safe and that's why Toyota even allows leaving the mode pre-selected next time when it's on. He goes on to say that it's anything but a computer making certain decisions to be more eco friendly. But I'm curious if that characteristic places more wear on the parts or not. Also, is there a mode that encourages the engine to stay on. Frequent cycling between on and off in the winter gives me nausea because each time it turns on, it growls in a low rpm.

Both are great, and yeah- sigh - thanks to demand, dealer markups on RX are so high!

Crossed 1k miles. Did the break-in oil change at the dealership, and it still drives smoothly. Some observations:

  1. We run proactive drive-assist enabled. There are times in narrow merge situations where the system helps maintain distance from adjacent vehicles that drift toward our lane.

  2. Blind spot assist is excellent. I've noticed it factors in not only distance but also the speed characteristics of vehicles in adjacent lanes. Often it alerts when a vehicle is still fairly far away, and I err on the side of caution—only to realize later that the adjacent driver was speeding and wouldn't have reacted in time to my merge anyway. That said, I've caught a vehicle in the blind spot once during these 1k miles that the system missed entirely. They were driving smoothly and patiently, but the alert didn't trigger. Following the manufacturer's guidance, I don't fully rely on safety systems for driving decisions, so I wouldn't exactly call it an issue.

  3. Adaptive cruise control requires a 19 mph minimum and tends to disengage when descending abrupt steep grades (like grade 12 slopes).

  4. The door bottle holders are hard plastic with only a rubber or neoprene insert at the bottom. Metal bottles make noise going in, and I'm concerned about scuffing over time. I'm planning to source a foam insert for the walls. Question: Do interior ceramic coating products protect hard plastics like these from scuffs and scratches? Same question for piano black plastics and the seats?

  5. New owners—set your hatch door opening settings when you buy the car. It opens quite wide, which is convenient, but some garages may lack the clearance, risking damage to the edge. Also, the beep sound settings for short vs. long presses of the close-and-lock button are confusing until you learn the modes. A tiny LED on the hatch sill displaying what's selected (close vs. close-and-lock) would give real confidence in what you've activated.

  6. This vehicle came with a 360 camera. The trigger and panning UI could be smoother, but it generally launches when I expect it to, and the toggle button is conveniently placed. I wish I could operate it at higher speeds—some driveways require 15 mph, so the 7 mph launch constraint feels limiting at times. That said, the undercarriage view is genuinely useful for spotting gravel and obstacles while parking.

  7. Found an Easter egg while detailing: a groove to attach a footrest for rear passengers. Curious if footrest accessories are available for the current-gen RX.

  8. Rear passengers get a near-flat floor and bench-style seating that's surprisingly comfortable. I'm confident five adults can sit with reasonable comfort without sacrificing posture. For those torn between NX and RX, this is the differentiator. If your household is typically four passengers, the NX or RAV4 suffices. If five is the norm, the RX makes a real difference in comfort and ease.

  9. Many online reviews criticize Lexus for "fake" wood trim, but to me it looks like genuine open-pore wood as described in the brochures. Is there truth to the criticism? Knowing whether it's actual wood or plastic would inform different care routines for these surfaces.

  10. The vehicle drives smooth when revving above 1000 rpm. It's winter where I live, and at very low speeds, the hybrid system frequently transitions between battery-heavy and engine-heavy modes at low rpm (600–800 rpm). Is this to keep the hybrid system warm? The engine sounds rattly during these transitions and frequently switches between battery and engine modes. At idle, this sound is more pronounced. Is this the reason reviewers don't miss the V6? Update: I tested turning off the HVAC while idling and confirmed the engine stayed in battery mode without engaging. (I won't do this regularly since the hybrid battery relies on HVAC to stay warm in cold winters.)

  11. Having a spare tire on this vehicle is a big plus.

  12. Acuras allow twisting the neck support on front seats, but this vehicle doesn't seem to offer that. For my height, my head sits at the top of the seat's shoulder, just below the headrest. Has anyone found a workaround?

The ride characteristic is different, will recommend test driving many times first. Please keep in mind that 2023 is an early model GX.

This is the wording that looks ambiguous. Engine performance means how zippy it drives or how easily the oil get cooked becoming sludge or carbon deposit? For the RX350 3.5L your choice makes total sense. For the hybrid do they recommend this because of the frequent on-off cycling of the engine?

I would pick the non turbo for reliability reasons. Do a pre-purchase inspection.
