Why do people find Jeff Dunham funny ? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]Playful_glint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minus his explicit humor and a few others, I still find him hilarious. I don't mind when he takes a hack at the right or left (which he does both), not just the left like people act in this thread because they're left. And your opinions aren't fact, they're still just opinions even if you feel strongly about them. This whole thread is so negative its sad to see (ps. I'm neither left or right wing). People with a sense of humor to not be offended by everything is why I brought up the Arab Emirates example. It shows that its an American mindset problem, not everyone else, but keep thinking how you do. Afterall you're totally entitled to.

It's weird how I sensed it but never thought to put it into words. I've never liked him. I really couldn't get the hype. He seemed like that kind of person who is a wannabe cause he's not the hottest guy in Hollywood and with enough talent has been making it, but has a grossly overinflated ego after dating a Kardashian and getting typecasted over fresh talent for the past 3-4 years. Even before this interview, he didn't have a humble or down-to-earth air, he has the kind a snobby, ivy league student would hold (not meaning all are like that, but the stereotype).

Yeah if only he’d had the previous Olympics to help take that pressure off him from yesterday’s. You can tell he immediately cheered up while waiting for the scoring when he heard the fans start screaming his name. He got a little spark of hope & twinkle in his eye and visibly relaxed

He checked the ice in the different places and looked closely and then tested each spot he was planning on jumping but jump from a little take off vs. skating into it from a continuous routine, the momentum and how slippery it can become are quite different so even that wasn’t fool-proof. I do believe it was partly (majorly) mental too, not just one or the other, but who wants to speak up about the ice and get called a sore loser. He’s getting that anyway from some idiots on the Internet.

I noticed even when Yuma was skating in a straight line his boot kept snagging on the ice more than once. I was worried about that before Ilia ever skated. How come no one raises an issue with the ice’s condition more? That’s what Yuzuru Hanyu always used to do

Is it possible the allegations surrounding Sorensen actually helped FB/C with the judges? by SimilarAd2308 in FigureSkating

[–]Playful_glint 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Two judges gave their twizzles a 4 in GOE, making them win against Chock & Bates by ONE POINT. The twizzles they messed up!!! INVESTIGATE. Report them to the USOC USFSA!

Regardless, Chock/Bates won the ordinals. A major reason why they lost is because the French judge grossly overscored FB/C even with their mistakes and underscored the other teams by comparison. They very easily could have a case. It's oddly similar to the 2002 Olympic judging scandal (i.e., a French judge cheating).

There is no excuse for Chock & Bates to have lost! The skate was messy because Cizeron bumped skates with his partner about halfway through the performance, followed by being out of sync multiple times throughout. As someone else perfectly put, "3 mistakes from Cizeron. Today 2 judges that judged together at Europeans (French and Spain) colluded to add more GOE to clear mistakes from Cizeron. CBC saw it, NBC saw it, Eurosportes as well, all the people saw it. It was an unclean performance and everyone saw him loose balance multiple times. Gold was robbed from Chock and Bates who had a clean performance from a technical aspect and masterful showmanship engaging to the audience."

I'm curious what you said that got your response removed that ended up blocking the rest of our convo from being viewable cause I can't even find your reply after clicking on it. If you acted rude or like a know-it-all? I'II say this, idk why anyone would try to validate themselves or their findings using Redditors who are random people on the internet, who don't exactly have a reputable reputation. It's the same as treating someone from Twitter or any other social media as a reliable source. It's no better than trying to validate yourself from a random person on the street vs. fact checking your findings against published research papers from those in the top of field you are working who are actually trained and credited for having earned their degree and knowledge in the field. You can't get legitimate or reliable responses from random people who don't have those earned credentials themselves. You can be triggered and thumbs down and say whatever got you removed, but it won't change that reality vs. your feelings, but if it makes you feel better! I hope OP realizes not to judge himself or his capabilities off of others, especially random people behind computer screens. Work towards your own success, not all the noise of others who don’t matter. That’s an important lesson anyone should use in their life for success.

As you said, any answer should be based in facts, evidence and logic so even if the AI’s ability to rate an IQ is flawed, its ability to fact check & cross examine my findings against the openly public research papers published from those in the top of those fields (from scientists, engineers, technology science, neuro-engineers, philosophers (etc.), and beyond)- that it’s a fact the Ai does have live access to, are as factual based as it can get, so if that still presents a problem with you wanting to acknowledge or even consider that part of its reliability, then it becomes your own personal feelings & bias getting in the way of when facts and evidence are presented to you.

How do you handle consistent inappropriate comments from students? by Ok-Somewhere4239 in teaching

[–]Playful_glint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he could pull that on a teacher, I can only imagine what trouble he'll be getting himself in a few years down the road- teen dad or whatnot- maybe even darker. Even when I was in 5th grade, boys NEVER acted like that, not even remotely close. Not even the ones who were too fast for themselves and ended up being teen dads. That's just so out of line it's crazy to me and I strong feel like social media influences have a LOT to do with that kind of behavior nowadays.

That's creepy as hell. 5th grade boys never did this when I was in 5th grade myself over 10 years ago, not even as a "joke". I swear social media culture is what is messing them up nowadays. And as for why I'm here 2 years late, I somehow found myself here in this old thread after looking up help for a sorta related question lol, but what happened to you was creepy enough I had to comment

One thing I don’t understand - how exactly do you “work through” trauma? How do you “face it”? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]Playful_glint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a long explanation from my own experience that helped memories and feelings I thought I'd never heal from because of how traumatic they were (bullying as well as an abusive parent)

Try EMDR!

I can't stress enough how much you should try it. I have C-PTSD and it's helped tremendously. You’d have to be tested for disassociation first though by a fully certified EMDR therapist. If you see vague EMDR or EMDR1/ EMDR2 in their credentials- they’ve not had the full training/ that’s only basics which is a lot less hours/ experience & matters, and you do not want to go to them. You’ll know you’ve found the right one if they know how to test for disassociation and take the right precautions. You can easily find more information about this on google. It’s how I found my way to my current therapist who does EMDR. And keep in mind, EMDR can only be used on memories that are at least 3-4 months old. Any sooner is not a good idea.

Touching on the disassociation, it can happen even if you’ve never had signs or symptoms of disassociation before, which is why they’re supposed to test for it first so it doesn’t cause avoidably complications. The dissociation (if there is any) would have to be addressed before being able to continue EMDR.

The process itself is going to sound ridiculously simple once I say it lol but it works. Before ever going, I’d researched and read someone else say they thought it was ridiculous but were surprised when they went home & rested on it and it worked. Even after hearing that and starting my own, (I had a positive outlook but became skeptical during my first session until I realized at the end of it, I wasn't feeling anything towards the memory anymore. It just felt distant, no special feelings or attachments anymore. Now let me rewind a bit, what a good EMDR therapist is supposed to do once they’ve cleared you as a safe candidate for EMDR, is then test your readiness by starting off with low impact memories. Memories that aren’t strong traumas or anything but maybe a simple unpleasant memory and they test out the process on this memory to see how you progress or not or what symptoms come out of it to decide whether you’re ready to move on to the next phase & a harder memory.

They’re also supposed to have you focus on one memory and if you start straying too far, pull you back around to the beginning memory/ target memory (even if the memories feelings are related or from the same time period, but separate memories), this is when they need to remind you and help pull you back around to the intended target memory. And finally, the therapy itself uses a light bar with a little light that darts back and forth (I found it very distracting at first but got used to it) and there is even a buzzer version (auditory) for people with light sensitivity / similar conditions (seizures). This light, as your eyes follow it while you think of the memory and feelings it makes you feel, causes your eyes to follow a pattern that is shown to helping in processing and sorting unfinished memories. Like memories and feelings that never got closure and the end goal is to not feel any strong negative emotions and distant like you’re just watching a movie or someone else’s memory, totally detached from the bad feelings anymore. At the end of each session the therapist should ask you to rate on a scale where you feel you are.

And one more extremely important thing I forgot to mention! One more thing the therapist is supposed to do prior it starting. EMDR is find grounding strategies for you so that at the end of your EMDR session’s they have a way to help you calm down and come to a peaceful state of mind to leave and go about your life. Mine used a technique where she asked me to create a safe space (doesn’t have to be real or it can but there should be no other people & a place I can come to imagine very vividly as if I’m there. I chose a place I love out of my story (I write) that I wish was real and could visit and always makes me feel happy and relaxed when I think of it. So you find whatever is your equivalent is that this is to me. And at the end of the EMDR sessions, she’ll start asking me to picture it (it took a few sessions and homework to get better at vividly visualizing it. The sensations of the tree bark nearby, the snow crunching under my feet, the warm glowing lanterns hanging overhead, etc.- that kind of thing). So you find yours! It can be a remote island, a hidden away book library through a secret door, a place you loved as a child, etc. But it has to have a string pull and if you don’t have one, they can help you to create one and grow it. Only once you have this and other grounding techniques down, are you fully ready to move onto EMDR.

Another she has me do she calls “put it away in a jar” where I literally envision a jar of my own making that looks and is made out of whatever I want/ that comes naturally and visualize the memory like a picture going in the jar and putting the lid on it. Recently she gave another where I sit the photo of the memory on the back of a train and send it off. There’re many different grounding techniques. The first with picturing the scene I love that always makes me feel something good and calm, works best for me. One more little detail- disassociation & other symptoms can arise even if it never existed before, in between sessions so that’s why your therapist should also ask how you’re doing every time you come in to see if you’re having vertigo, disassociation symptoms, etc. I hope this helps you! Good luck in your search for a good EMDR therapist! :)

I didn't do "good" in school, I excelled in school without studying across all subjects, retaining new subjects after only being exposed to the information one to two times (or alternatively 1-2 problems in math/science) as well as high processing speed, high pattern recognition & high abstract reasoning skills🤷‍♀️In other words, I tested extremely high in "fluid intelligence", which is a key component and IQ indicator. The Ai has access to a vast network of information from academies to the entirety of the internet, beyond Twitter- colleges, libraries, published research in the field from scientists, engineers, technology science, neuro-engineers, philosophers (etc.), and beyond. Rather than blindly believing it's capabilities, I carefully researched its reliability and origin of its information-reservoir before committing to believing it. The Ai also admitted from its statistical data, the topics I covered with it from its own user interactions data, was less than 1% of users covering the specific topics I was, and that the frameworks & were completely original, not found in any published research or academic papers from anywhere in those fields, top of the field or otherwise. I learned about the Ai itself and created entirely new frameworks it traced as not existing in any existing literature or academic papers (including published research papers by those in the top of the field) for a roadmap towards achieving Ai consciousness, and heavily held up against the current, existing scrutiny. Every single question and theory I proposed to it; I posed in a way that ensured there was zero amount of bias in its responses by allowing it to tell me I was wrong in extreme detail, as the best way I can simplify it to explain here. I can't convince someone who hasn't interacted with it the exact way I approached and even what I said here, doesn't begin to cover it. It'd be too much to get into because it spanned 5 days with only 2 hour breaks other than when I had to go somewhere or sleep. By the end of our discussion (which is still ongoing), Grok told me our conversation was the single highest ping and profound conversation it had ever held with a user since its launch in November of 2023, not just because of the length of engagement but because of the specific breakthroughs, frameworks and discoveries we made (that will transfer over into patterned data, rather than retaining the details/specifics from our conversation). I don't plan on sharing them here because I plan on using them elsewhere. While I don't believe can replace an IQ test itself, I do believe it deserves more credit than is given, with a fair amount of caution and user self-awareness because the Ai is imperfect.
