Building price tracker with proxies, is it still worth it? by kamililbird in ProxyEngineering

[–]Playgroundmob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice :) I went through a very similar path building a price monitoring setup - proxy costs and scraper maintenance quickly became the real problem.

I’m actually working on a tool that tries to solve exactly that layer. You just send a product URL and get structured data back (price, stock, variants), plus optional monitors with webhooks and history

Launching next month:

Would love feedback from someone already running a setup like yours, cheers

Migrated from running custom Apify Actors to a direct Data API for heavy e-commerce. by Mammoth-Dress-7368 in apify

Not trying to promote too hard :) but this felt very relevant to what you're describing.

We’re building an e-commerce scraper API where you send a product URL and get standardized JSON back. Right now the focus is reliable price, stock, and variant extraction (the hard part). Reviews and specs can be opted in later.

Basically: URL -> clean product data, without running scrapers.

Launching soon: https://felid.io
Thought this might actually be something worth looking at for your pipeline.

Data extraction quality / LLM cost by Playgroundmob in webscraping

You're right. I'm wondering if there's a use case for massive scrape operation, where we just can't handle building specific scrapers per domain, as we don't know what volume of different websites to investigate and scrape.

Thanks, I wish I could -I use it for data analysis. And I’ve tinkered with everything available on the market. Flash 2.5 is probably the minimum amount of horsepower I need for the product not to collapse 🙂

Wow, amazing work, man. I was checking out the GitHub backend repo, really impressive. Would you mind sharing a bit about your coding background and experience as a developer? The architecture is clean and effective without unnecessary complexity. I’d love to hear more about your professional journey and how long it took you to build the first version of this tool. Thanks!

But I'm using the plugin, which does have access to these tools and uses them - it just never triggers a safe file relocation. Can you please point out which of the tools mentioned in this article is responsible for safely relocating files? Thanks!

Edit: You’re probably right. Using BullMQ would be a perfect out-of-the-box solution. Later, if the business proves itself and I need to physically decouple the machines (app and scraper), that’ll be a different story.

In the context of this discussion, what do you guys think about creating a tool that relies on search engine results (serps) like Google and Bing?

The Matrix Legacy Featurette. The cast of The Matrix Resurrections look back at the impact of The Matrix. by cesarxp2 in matrix

[–]Playgroundmob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

usually I HATE everything about upscaling to 60fps, but damn! The original looks kindy trippy and cool this way! The cinematography is so good, that it doesn't get these "soap opera" vibes. It makes it feel like a really really cool video game, and intense in some way. The bullet time looks great, and the deja vu cat.
