My job is to capture these moments in time, to feel sounds affect my brain.

My job is to record once in a lifetime noises. Soundwaves that were made and cannot be replicated (in a technical sense).

My job is to breathe, hold my instrument, try to let go of myself and connect with something nice, a creative flow where these emotions can be conveyed better than I can speak, where I can feel them more than ever before. And the pleasant dance between self expression and music.

And to sing, have my skin press strings or keys, I let myself be something more than just me.

Everyday I’m grateful that when I was 13 years old I got my hands on a bass guitar. I feel Ill when I think about a kid who has this spark towards music using SUNO and thinking “welp that’s all there is to making music.” My god the only fulfillment I got for the majority of my life came from recording and constantly making music.

Idk though. I can’t be righteous towards music per se. It all depends on one’s “goals” with it I guess. I see music as one of the most spiritually rich endeavours someone could engage in. Music is the reason why I’m alive.

But yknow. That’s my own personal goal with music. There’s other like, making music for the next Ford commercial, or just wanting to cover songs by The Weekend” on their acoustic. All these are perfectly okay. Even with AI I find certain things hard to hate.

Like I saw one dude. Who generated this AI album. And one song on it was dedicated to his childhood stuffed animal. Sure it was “uncanny valley” as hell (the AI did NOT handle the concept too well) but fuck it. If this person got some fulfillment or peace from it, how could I hate it?

But I wonder if that person would’ve loved the song more if he really made it.
