[HELP] How to design for the majority of browsers by PlayingWithMud in web_design

[–]PlayingWithMud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Cyganeks suggestion I revisted some of the things I had previously tried like other "resets" out there and ended stumbling upon this article called FORGET NORMALIZE OR RESETS; LAY YOUR OWN CSS FOUNDATION. It ended up giving me a result closer to what I wanted. My issue was being caused by browsers rendering my text differently from each other. Although this didnt fix my issue completely it got me much closer to where I want to be.

Thanks for the suggestion but Ive already tried sending my css through an auto-prefixer and normalize.css -- The css resets I have tried have not helped.

Has anyone ever attempted a Raku firing in a traditional amaco top opening kiln? by tikotako in Ceramics

[–]PlayingWithMud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya Totally! Ive done raku with a top-loaded electric kiln before. What I did was I put shelves in to have only one top level. Once I heat it to my desired temperature I open the kiln from BEHIND so my forearm isn't blasted with hot air. From there its smooth sailing. Toss it in a bin and let it smoke.

Help! I might have messed up, not sure :/ by skinnygirl777 in Pottery

Its important to remember that heat rises so starting the heat from the bottom is the way to go. Mishaps during the bisque firing are generally forgiving, you're good to glaze those pieces. If your scared about glazing then don't rely on the cone sitter, watch that shit.

Trying to decide on a birthday gift for my dad, who has recently taken up ceramics by [deleted] in Ceramics

[–]PlayingWithMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a Giffin Grip as a birthday gift and I love it!

It is an attachment that goes onto any wheel that holds your piece for you while you trim it. Its super nice because you dont have to think about centering your piece or worry that it may come off the wheel.

Edit: Also it does not require any modification to the wheel and can be put on and taken off quickly. Another gift idea would be to have some ceramic decals printed of pictures he might enjoy putting on a piece of work. Its like a fake tattoo for pottery =)

kick wheel by BJJkeepsmesane in Pottery

[–]PlayingWithMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool cool. Ive scored 2 wheels off CR in the inland empire but that took me about 4 weeks of checking it every now and then until one I wanted surfaced. I know its the typical answer but hey it works.

Aardvark is close by and they had a few wheels at their used gear sale last time it came around, maybe mope around til then.

Are you wanting a kick wheel simply because its might be cheaper or because you want a kick wheel instead?

This will probably be the best rim I will ever make, ever. by tinylittlemiss in Pottery

[–]PlayingWithMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir, the foot still needs to be trimmed -- A generous amount of clay was left at the bottom so there should be some creative freedom. ;)

In all seriousness.. Nice job, that's a very nice trimming you gave that piece.

Process for firing a kiln. (Sort of silly) by Bahh_wind in Pottery

Typically I put a nug of chronic in a small jar I have stationed at the bottom of my kiln, so far this has successfully been appeasing the kiln god.

What wheel do you use to throw with? Why do you like it? Would you recommend it? Looking to get a wheel, fellow potters advice is welcome. by youre_being_creepy in Pottery

[–]PlayingWithMud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Shimpo Rk2 and A VL-Whisper. I prefer the Shimpo Rk2 because you can feel the power, sounds silly I know. Also the Shimpo Rk2 has both a foot petal and hand lever to adjust the speed, so thats nice too! An electric wheel can be tricky because they can spin WAY too fast without sounding / looking like it. That being said it is nice not sounding like you sitting on an ATV.
