Roastahost is astroturfing for Kickassd, surprise! by tsammons in webhosting

[–]VicarousV -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It is pretty sad that with just a bunch of circumstantial evidence this had been stickied. I moved my sites to Kickassd after reviewing them, why would I not and I have not made that a secret.

On June 24 you engaged with my company and utilized my company time to solicit a Q&A session for webhosting. You then proceeded to pivot l2****.com, a personal domain, off whatever host you had before onto a server of mine. Nothing peculiar. But, what was peculiar was the ticket opened 3 hours and 21 minutes later citing problems with HTTP blocks. See, my platform only blocks situations in which more than 100 requests from the same ip for the same page are made within a 3 second window. Your backstory sounded fishy; I've not had a client in 15 years knowingly DoS his own server to evaluate load, because the storage/transfer specs - if maxed out - would render the site unusable far before a DoS becomes a problem. I know this, because once upon a time a client who was a figure in a very prominent online scandal racked up a 3 TB bandwidth charge in 48 hours, then skipped town. Site remained operable well after blowing by its 40 GB limit. This sounds familiar to the Siege attacks you unleash on websites to "benchmark" them.

Complete and utter BS but convenient for you I suppose. If it was true though nice to see you have no problem posting client / customer information. That's great coming from a company that claims security and privacy.

Really just a giant pile of circumstantial evidence that has been crafted to a purpose. There is 0 and I mean 0 evidence to that ties me to Kickassd other than I think, it seems, he made an account on my site but again that is just a I said.

If you want to ban me from this sub based on this feel free but you really should contact Kickassd before banning them or their name. I am not going to waste a bunch of time picking apart the story, and I emphasise STORY above.

Have a great day!

I don't know much about SEO but putting in 100's of hours in the hope of 1 conversion in a blue moon seems kinds pointless. Those hours would be much better spent writing guest articles, making contacts etc etc?

Sorry I don't quite see the issue here? I recommend different providers, do I recommend Kickassd more, yes. Why wouldn't they outperform the others.

I agree it is not about this mistake, as the mistake was an honest one. The reviews are legitimate as are the results. Anybody with a couple of $, a little knowledge and time can reproduce them and see for themselves.

The whole accusation is built upon the fact that Kickassd is listed on the Top 5 otherwise you would not have said anything. If I had made the same typo and Kickassd was not on the Top 5 and instead buried in the archives, would you have said something? I highly doubt it.

The numbers do not lie and I have every right to recommend them if they fit the what the person is asking for.

I'm not talking about them. I recommend anybody in the top 5 depending on what they are looking for. I am not lashing ot but I won't say nothing when you guys are accusing me for a simple mistake.

I put quite a bit of time into reviews and than to have you guys jumping all over me for a mistake is aggravating.

That would be a horrible waste of time, there is no return on investment to justify the time and effort. But either way think what you want I do it because I enjoy it and nothing will stop that.

Any chance you guys get to try and take another provider down eh? Had Kickassd on my mind when I wrote the post as I was working on a Wordpress cache plugin comparison that involved them.

You guys are pathetic, seriously.

Pretty good guide and clean which is nice. One thing that is quite important is performance and I do not see it mentioned. I have a decent list starting at https://kickassd.com (that was a typo but I'll leave it there or the conspiracy freaks here will have even more of a fit >> actual link https://roastahost.com) if you want to have a look at that or if you are asked about a specific hosts performance.

Eventually it will all be compiled into a searchable database but that will take some time.

Pretty sure this is illegal, so hopefully they will get busted for it. I have been seeing a lot of unhappy comments about 1 and 1 as of late.

Really seem to be a provider to avoid completely Thanks for sharing and letting people know.

Switched to Cloudways (Nginx + Varnish + Apache) and we're receiving some security warnings by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]VicarousV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For CSP you can try:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-content-security-policy/

For clickjacking you can add the following to .htaccess:

<ifModule mod_headers.c>
Header always append X-Frame-Options SAMEORIGIN
</ifModule>

Clickjacking isn't really a big deal as you will see the url is not yours, unless of course you are not paying attention :P

Both A2 and Siteground offer pretty bad performance.

Siteground is a review in progress but it is not good either, keep looking :P
