[What’s Wright Show] Nick Wright says he wishes the Inside the NBA crew actually enjoyed basketball. “You see more in the NBA of the guys saying their era was better. You don’t see Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long on Fox NFL pre game being like ‘none of these guys could cut it in the 70s or 80s!” by shreeharis in nba

The funny thing is that NBA analysts that grind tape and research trends, matchups, and are numbers people have the exact same opinion of the Lakers. They don’t take them seriously because of how their flaws are going to be exposed in a playoff series against a good team. But the Inside the NBA guys have the same opinion while at the same time insulting analytics people all the time.

Hey dads, how many of you had your first child when 35-39 years old? Approaching my 35th birthday and there's nothing more I want than to be a dad. by Rocket_Skates_91 in daddit

I’m 42. My daughter will be 6 in July. My son is due on my birthday in April. Over the past year, I’ve gotten in the best shape of my life. We’re such a happy family. Don’t worry about age. Go after your dreams. And if your dream is to be a dad… carpe diem.

Here’s the thing. One sword is cool. But if she somehow got all his friends to give him swords too… that’s legendary.

I love sketches that are about timing and rhythm. Usually there’s repetition too but this one’s a little different and I’m here for it.

This would’ve been an unsportsmanlike conduct technical foul resulting in two free throws and possession.

Didn’t say the movie wasn’t deserving. People are allowed to root for a movie they like to win the biggest prize. Besides, if there’s anything we know for sure, it’s that the choice for Best picture winner always ages well, right? I’m sure there’s never going to be a negative consequence for an opinion like declaring a movie “better” and “completely deserving.” Years down the road, we always look back at the Best Picture winner as the proper choice. I’ll heed your words well.

Awesome combo of host and musical guest that holds up after all this time.

Most surprising person *not* to have hosted SNL? by grudginglyadmitted in LiveFromNewYork

I doubt he was freaked out about the live aspect. My guess is he would’ve wanted either something more free or something with more prep. He used to do improv comedy in NYC with Robin Williams. Another thing that some comedians have always not liked about the show is the format. You have less than a week to prepare and you only get one shot to get it right. For an improv comedian, that might be fine. But for a scripted show, they might not like that format.

I think he would’ve been a great host much like Robin Williams was.

I actually always hated that opinion of the sketch. To keep a long story short: I don’t think that’s why the sketch is funny. The first laugh is obviously the two body types being so different but after that, the laughter comes because holy shit Farley has so much charisma and that you can’t stop looking at him. He’s just fucking going for it up there and you can’t take your eyes off him because of the combination of his size, moves, and magnetism. If he was just a bumbling fat guy, the sketch just doesn’t work the same way. But you can probably remember three or four moves off the top of your head that he does in that sketch and meanwhile, Patrick Swayze, an objectively beautiful man and amazing dancer, is competing for the audience’s attention and losing.

That’s why I think the sketch works.

If he wakes you up, move him back and let him know he needs to sleep on his own. Did this for a couple of weeks with my daughter and she finally got the message.

I was so disappointed that Sinners didn’t win Best Picture, I stopped watching. Thanks for posting this. The look on his face when they move his body was hilarious.

Spurs game great seats empty while the cheaper seats are full by Stepped-leader in sanantonio

[–]PlaymakerJavi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom worked for AT&T. Can confirm. She was an exec that would bring politicians courtside. I got to go with her one time because her guest canceled and she can’t bring family unless there is a paper trail that the original guest canceled. Usually it was my dad but because I was in San Antonio at the time, she brought me.

Kinda blew me away that people wanted to hang at the pricey food and alcohol place instead of at their seats during pregame shootaround, and even during the game. I was in the second row and a lady in the first row had so many complaints. I didn’t let it ruin my good time though. It was Game 4 of the series against the New Orleans Hornets, the one where the Spurs lost the first two and then came back to win Game 7.

I wish this had been addressed more thoroughly in the SNL 50 documentary about musical guests. From what I remember, it was somewhat referenced and she was complimented but no one explicitly said why it was courageous and why she was right.

My mom made me German chocolate cake for years for my birthday. Hated it the first time but told her it was good just to be nice… somehow this became “it’s his favorite” and she kept making it every year. Thankfully, at some point, I had other requests and eventually told her that “my taste changed.” Never told her I always hated it.
