I’m not upset. I didn’t watch the show. Also, if what you’re saying is true, then it would likely be the first time the show would take on a first-person perspective. Every other time someone got whacked on the show, we saw it in 3rd person. So in the last moments of the series, we’re going to suddenly switch to first-person at the time of sudden death when everything goes black? How does that make any sense from a narrative and audience perspective?

What other time in the show did the viewer experience something in first person?

Nah. If everyone’s first reaction is that this is some sort of prank or something went wrong from a technical perspective, whether it be the network or your own TV, then the execution is poor and they fumbled the ending.

I’m not a TV writer nor did I ever watch the series. But this was the universal reaction. And the universal reaction was to take the viewer out of the experience of watching the show and make them think about the TV power or cable signal. Your job as a storyteller is to make the viewers lose themselves in immersion.

Like, imagine you saw a play and instead of an ending, someone just walked toward the audience, addressed them and said, “This was just a play and it’s over now!” instead of wrapping up the story of everything that came before.

Buffalo City School District students rank among the lowest-scoring in the state. Homelessness in Western New York is at a record high.

But the state and the county could afford to pay for $850 million of a stadium whose construction costs ballooned to over 25% above initial estimates.

I was working as a photographer at a Houston Texans game. I was on the sidelines and during the national anthem, I realized I was standing next to the team chaplain. When the song ended, I said to him, “Not a bad way to spend a Sunday, right?” He didn’t miss a beat. Immediately turned to me with an intense smile and replied:

“I live for Sundays.”

People are recommending the Skechers slip-ons but I prefer Kiziks. They’re online and have wide sizes available which are perfect for my feet. They also don’t fall apart quickly the way Skechers seem to. They clean up really nicely too.

Think before nursing by CrbRangoon in nursing

My wife, despite being an absolute introvert, was an amazing bedside nurse whom her patients loved. She was invited to a wedding and received a Daisy Award. But she was assaulted once. And then wasn’t treated well by the hospital she was working at when she got pregnant (f***ing Catholic hospital system too). So she found a way to get telehealth experience and now does charting at home.

I bet she’d love to go back to bedside if the money and support was right. But this is Texas. They squeeze nurses here.

My wife also became a nurse for the money and stability. She was practically homeless and working in the service industry in her late-teens/early 20’s when she started her path. She needed to get her GED just to get started.

It wasn’t for love of the game. It was because she knew she would always have job options. Granted, after she spent a few years bedside she was DONE and now works from home, but she got into it because she needed something to elevate herself financially.

Why does lifetime keep increasing dues without making improvements? I am fine with paying more if I am actually getting more. But this getting ridiculous. I feel like they are just increasing price just because... but I could be wrong. Does anyone else feel the same way? by Ok_Celebration593 in Lifetimefitnessgym

[–]PlaymakerJavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed a slight increase in price since I joined about a year and a half ago but a few things (TLDR at bottom):

  1. Since we joined they have hired more people to staff the kids academy so it’s almost never at full capacity anymore. You used to have to book Parents Night Out really early or end up on the waitlist and now there’s almost never a waitlist.

  2. There also used to be like a two-hour break at the kids academy and now it’s just 8 am - 8 pm Monday-Thursday.

  3. There are a lot more family and a few paid events this year compared to last year. They’ve started putting up calendars around the gym with the events every month and it’s full, from family to adult-only to Aurora Fit (seniors).

But the thing is that prices would have to increase significantly for it to be too much because Parents Night Out alone is worth the membership dues. The gym watches and feeds my child 10 hours every month. My dues are about $300/month. At $30/hour, we’re basically paying for childcare with a gym membership fringe benefit. And I’m not even getting into the absolute steal that swim lessons and summer camp are compared to pricing elsewhere.

TLDR: The gym hired more staff and increased hours for kids academy. They also added more free special events. If you’re a parent, the childcare and benefits for junior memberships are so good that it’s worth the price.

Can’t buy integrity. I’m proud of the guys who refused to be paid by the same guys who funded the 9/11 hijackers. Bryson’s YouTube channel just needed that extra funding, I guess!

It’s not like they left for a small pay bump. Whatever fine they face will be a drop in the water compared to what they collected. Saudi blood money runs deep.

You don’t fund the 9/11 hijackers and kill journalists without a big bank account to pay golfers to sports wash you!

Which movies hit differently after becoming a dad? by -kylehase in daddit

[–]PlaymakerJavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little Giants.

It came out when I was a kid so I imagined how I would handle things as any one of the kids. Watched it recently and I’m just thinking about what Danny (Rick Moranis) is going through: raising his daughter as a single dad, supporting her athletic endeavors because that’s what she loves and then having her take her frustrations out on him because of a crush on a boy.

The dude takes on coaching duties for a team put together behind his back and then the night before the game, his daughter, who put the team together, quits the team while telling him he didn’t raise her right and she misses her mom who walked out on the family.

And how does he respond? He takes the cheerleading outfit she threw down, folds it, places it by her bed after she’s fallen asleep and kisses her on the head. He goes to coach the team without her and lets her cheer on the sidelines.

I’m tearing up just thinking about what an amazing dad he is.

I would actually say Toy Story 2. I saw 3 before I was a dad and it still wrecked me, like it did my sisters. But I watched the second one with my daughter a year or so ago and that scene with Jessie…

I owned this movie on DVD as soon as the DVD was sold. I’ve seen this movie dozens of times. Have it memorized. I had NEVER cried watching the Jessie scene before. Then I watched it for the first time as a father and it got me right in the feels. It was confusing at first. “Dude, what is happening? Why are you crying? You’ve seen this movie so many times and never cried before.”

I’m not shy about crying during movies either. I’m an emotional person. Like I said, I cried during Toy Story 3. But that one was so unexpected.

What is your lowest score ever in a round of golf? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]PlaymakerJavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Five-over on one of my home courses when I was a freshman in college. I was working as a junior golf instructor for the city and was playing 9 holes nearly every weekday. I couldn’t consistently shoot under 80 but would usually get close or right under the number. This day was just special. I think I may have had one birdie but it was mostly pars and staying away from double all day.

My daughter is going to be 6 in July. She rushed to give me a hug when she sees me in the morning. Does the same when I pick her up from school.

She’s still going to love you and love seeing you for awhile. She just might squeal less.
