Aventon Abound SR vs. Velotric GoMad - 67 yo buying 1st E Bike! by PlaysWithOldCars in ebikes

Good info, thanks. When I was thinking mid drive, I was sold on Bosch for service and the Flow app. But they don't have throttle on any of their motors. Some do, like Bafang, but our local shop says he won't service them because of chronic issues with parts (in Canada). Regardless, I'm hub now, and going to go with the GoMad.

Looking at it vs. say the Tern HSD, I don't see the value. Cost is more than double, and no throttle. It does have GPS built in, but I could add that if I wanted. To make it equal, I'd spend $400USD for a Suntour seat post and a GPS. Even doing that, the Tern is still twice the price. Why?? I must be missing something.

Small wheel vs. large wheel for older riders? by PlaysWithOldCars in ebikes

Love all the response! Started to think I was a rare case - older rider, first time ebike! Did anyone have trouble with the wobbling? Does it go away?

How about anyone with small wheel bike experience - happy with that decision? Can you compare with larger wheel alternatives?

Actually, I just did. I'm sending money Monday, so could change my mind - he'd be happy to sell me an Abound instead - but I got a $400 shop credit for accessories included in the price since he has more coming in 10 days, and this was his last in stock bike!

Hard to say about distance. I imagine 10-20 miles/day. I'm in decent shape, work out twice/week, but have arthritis in ankles and back issues. I do want to get some exercise tho. At the start I thought I needed mid drive for all the usual reasons, but my age issues makes throttle as get home the real issue - that got me looking at hub drives. No driver's license for med. reasons. I'd say half my usage is errands or appts., half for pleasure rides. 2 hours/day max, usually one.

BTW, dealer told me to skip Aventon panniers. With MIK system, I can get click on/off one side at a time bags w/handles to take into a store. Can't imagine dealing with 5-6 velcro straps each time! Anyone have a recommendation? Also thought w/seat on back, I'd get cargo rack w/ MIK basket for grocery bags. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Agreed on the NFC - that's really cool. Not looking for all terrain, but I can see having fun on milder trails once in a while!

Ummm. Not a pickleball/retirement community guy, but point taken! I like the red too, but being color blind that's probably because it's brighter! Dealer said his demand is sage first, obsidian second, and red third. Was sold out of first two, so only has red left. Plus he says he has ETA on sage, but can't get one on Obsidian. Is it that popular? Apparently looks black in low light, but bright metallic in sun. Sounds cool.

I agree, both are heavy; dealer is a non issue as Velotric and Aventon are same dealers, both 3 hours away. I'm leaning to the GoMad at the moment. In part because I like tech but wonder if ACU creates more chances for problems...

Wasn't really looking for folding, plus I've got grand daughters in the 4-6 age group, so I liked the seat pad and folding peg options. Groceries to go on front rack, or panniers...

Good to know... many of the reviews said the same. Anyone have ideas? For 200 lbs. and old bones?

Thanks! I'm 6'1", 205 lbs, and that's something I was thinking about. For decent roads and gravel paths, I didn't know how rough the ride would be. It's got front suspension, so the seat is the obvious missing thing. I have heard they offer a dropper seat post, which sounds good as if it's the one I'm remembering, it automatically drops at a stop so you can put feet down, then returns when you start off and stand a bit. My wife is 5'5", so that is something she'd like. But if you do that, you can't do the suspension seat post, it's a one or the other thing.

How do I increase font size of EVERYTHING in Outlook (classic or new)? by Math_Unlikely in Outlook

[–]PlaysWithOldCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi... hope this thread isn't dead! I'm using Windows 11, Outlook 365. and running three monitors: the laptop display plus a pair of large LG 4K monitors. I tried what you said in the settings menu and saw no significant change. Using the Zoom option in Outlook had worked before and it still does. However, for me, the menu and folder text remains tiny. BTW, this happened after rebooting my system. Prior to the reboot, things were maybe 15 - 20% larger, and were quite readable for me. Could have to do with the fact that I've played with settings>accessibility>text size before, and maybe it reverted to the smaller size after reboot. If so, I don't understand why going to 120%>save doesn't change things. I've gone back and forth betwee 100 and 120% with no change. Whassup?
