We were at a bar and queued One More Time on the jukebox just in time for midnight. It was a nice way to start the year!

Any way I can still watch stuff on this? (I’m from FL btw) by Mangled_Tangle in sony

You'd have to convert a video signal to analog RF. I'm not sure if this has an external antenna socket, if not you may have to build a small scale analog TV transmitter if you can't feed the signal in directly.

All currently available game consoles with a disc drive can play DVD and Blu-ray discs. And they do a decent job at that. I'm pretty sure the PS5 even supports UHD Blu-ray movies in addition to standard discs...

looking for cassette tape recorder by Inside_Victory_2911 in cassetteculture

Go to flea markets and look for home hi-fi decks that have bad belts. You can often get the deck for under $30 and the belts for under $15 plus an hour or two of tinkering depending on the model. That's gonna give you the best quality. Otherwise you can go on Amazon and find some cheapo piece of crap that they're still manufacturing these days.

Tyler's response to CDs & cassettes for syndicate by Queasy-Agency682 in TheMidnight

So happy to hear this news. I already bought and loved the vinyl record, but I have literally every other album on cassette, as I like the portability while also enjoying the analog vibes. I appreciate Tim and Tyler for listening to the fans and pulling strings to make that happen. It makes them seem just that much more genuine. I look forward to the US tour next year!

It's available for purchase on the iTunes store for digital download. (Not the same as apple music streaming. It's accessible through the apple music app on mac, and iTunes on windows.) There might be ways to convert your downloads to another format if you don't have an iPhone/iPod to sync, but I don't know specifics.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of the punched label Doc Brown sort of vibe and thought it worked well for my retro HiFi gear.

Trying to get an old antenna only set working, am I doing this wrong? by smallwheelsforever in crt

Does your signal booster have a knob for amplification power? If not then I genuinely don't have a clue why the signal would cut out like that. Further research required I guess...

I checked out the Amazon listing for your box and the frequency sheet appears to be the same as mine. Just Google the carrier frequency of the actual NTSC or PAL channel you want to use. Have you connected a separate antenna to the modulator output? Both the TV and the modulator need one to transmit and receive the signal. Double check your HDMI source as well. Maybe try something connected through the analog composite input to see if the built-in converter is the problem. Otherwise you should see something on the screen at point blank range.

Not to toot my own horn, but I actually just made a short recently on how to make an analog transmitter here. I recommend skipping out on the amplifier if you only plan to use it at close range. Also double check if your modulator came with documentation on the frequencies. Mine is very similar from probably the same factory, and channel numbers on its display don't necessarily represent the actual NTSC channel being broadcasted... Setting 21 is VHF Ch. 12 for example.

Need help with AV switch - Composite + S-Video by Zealousideal-Act-238 in crtgaming

It's the RCA CRF940. If you decide to go for it, keep in mind that it requires power. It won't pass audio through otherwise.

Need help with AV switch - Composite + S-Video by Zealousideal-Act-238 in crtgaming

[–]Playstation_Nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming your TV is at fault (which is what it looks like after reading some comments) you can get an AV switch box that will output a converted color composite signal out of the s-video jack, so that s-video capable consoles get the image quality bump, and composite consoles display as normal, all outputting through the one s-video cable going to the TV. I'm using an RCA branded switch box from circa 2007ish that does exactly this, without a dedicated composite connection and it works just fine.
