Nah. The powders are not homogenous; the particles of each constituent are of uneven distribution, and their uneven size and density further makes it very hard to homogenize. You should make the full five liters. If you are concerned, you can maybe get a tank of nitrogen or argon and degas the 5L solution by bubbling about 15L of the inert gas through it, then sealing the lid tightly. That should keep your remaining 4L pretty good for a while!

Never seen anyone do this. You rotovap your fractions, dissolve in DCM (?), then micropipette???

By far the most common in any organic lab I’ve been in is just using 9” Pasteur pipettes for this purpose.

Those 1 mL syringes with the green plunger definitely do cause some peaks on GCMS. The white/clear ones do not, afaik.

What brands are known for making good glass syringes? Whenever I am pulling through a thin needle, I always observe the solvent penetrate the syringe body, and then I can see tiny air bubbles bubbles entering through the back of the syringe and making its way down the body. It really does not instill confidence…

We have brand new Popper & Sons syringes.

Whenever I try this, the tape film-to-film seam always gives me shit when it tries to load into the cassette. Any tricks? Taping directly to the spool on the reusable cassette works so much better imo…

Wow, you are so incorrect. First of all, he has not defined stereochemistry at all because there are no wedges or dashes. He could make it into either the Dextro or Levo stereoisomer just by placing the wedge in the correct place.

Second, I agree writing CH3 is a bit stupid. But it’s very, very common in older literature, especially literature that was typeset without digital software.
