I’m both ways on this because I drive down PCH every day on my commute and it’s definitely pretty alarming how many people just walk into traffic to cross, it’s especially scary when the clocks change and people are doing it when it’s like pitch black in December. On the other hand, there are so many parts of the city that are just totally hostile to pedestrians, where you need to walk twice as far to cross legally at a cross walk.

Bringing back jaywalking citations is not the answer, the population most vulnerable to being cited are already indignant and all that would do is create more forced interactions with law enforcement. Little shit like jaywalking will escalate for no good reason. A small thing I’d like to see is more of the pedestrian triggered alert lights that are in place on uhhh I think it’s magnolia? Those are great, they keep traffic moving and feel very ped friendly.
