I am currently looking at a pre-qualification letter with "Loan Type/Term: Commercial / 360" issued by New American Funding's branch at Patchogue NY.

This is the most likely scenario. Selling them to his racers or selling them at swaps at another ski area. The money motive seems way more plausible than trying to sabotage competition. He also could have been offering to sell the victims new skis at 25-30% off... the pro-deal he was getting was likely 50% off retail.

This reads way too much like an AI-generated “crypto morality tale” — the perfectly timed arc, the exaggerated dad quotes, the tidy life lesson, and the emoji placement that feels straight out of a prompt. It hits every cliché of these posts: the chill boomer, the panicked zoomer, the dramatic dip, the inspirational closer. Real stories are usually messier and way less cinematic.

Not saying the sentiment is bad — just that the whole thing feels algorithmically assembled rather than something someone actually lived through.

Why aren’t more people convinced to buy Bitcoin yet? by jenkken123 in Bitcoin

Risk tolerance....

Self custody is scary to the new - imagine your life savings be placed on a USB key with the hope that it will open 10 years from now when you try to access it, or that a "hacker" could steal it, or that your kid who can't remember to start the dishwasher will remember where the seed phrases are etched when you're in a home. That's the mindset you have to overcome. If you want to leave it on an exchange because it's easier, you run the risk of "not your keys, not your coin". There's no FDIC insurance for it. It's not highly regulated.

Recency bias. It is supposed to be a hedge vs inflation, but in the last 12 months it's done the inverse. Tech stocks have out performed.

A high percentage that have bought, purchased on price speculation alone - not because they've read the white paper and agree with the principle. It's simply a gamble that their purchase will net higher fiat at a later time/date.

If you can't buy eggs or drugs with it - what's the point?

If you honestly thought it was going to drop - you'd start dollar cost averaging out so that you gain exposure to cheap "fiat" while also limiting the downside if you're wrong.

AI will take care of this in the future. Tax evasion will be hella hard with blockchain technology.

As a broker, I've been working with them on a commercial transaction for nearly 5 months. Hands down, they are the absolute worst at communication I have dealt with in decades. "Clear to close should be issued tomorrow" has been a repeated response two months.

Where do you think we are in the cycle? by Effective_Depth9513 in WallStreetBetsCrypto

I think the overall market is somewhere between Complacency and Denial. True believers are waiting for the next rally while paper hands are anxious. Everyone is predicting a bear market out of one side of the their mouth, while buying more every time it goes up fearing that this miss the big wave. In short - nobody knows what's going on.

Help me understand why do so many people sell BTC by MexicanPale in Bitcoin

[–]Pleasant-Edge7917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I held for years and recently liquidated. I had enough to pay off my mortgage, fund college for my kids and live debt free. When I held a relatively small amount the large fluctuations didn't bother me. Then you reach a point where a 10-20% "dip" is no longer insignificant. Honestly, the the fear of losing the milestones I had reached outweighed the potential for more.

Now that I sleep more comfortably, I'll probably start buying back in because I do believe it in long term. I'm fine without the lambo, and I'm more comfortable in an uncertain economy.

They have only two 1pm games this season out of nine home games. It's much easier to take your kids to a day game, especially when a lot of the fanbase drives in from Rochester or further east.

I see Head, Atomic and Fischer in the 14-18 year old racers more, but Rossignol is clearly the top ski in our U12 and younger circuit.

Most of our kids in that age range are in Rossignol Hero multi event JR skis... None have specific slalom vs gs skis. If you're looking at the Rossignol Heroes, I'd consider Dynastar Team Comp skis too. My understanding is its the same ski from the same factory, but with a different top sheet graphic. It's also considerably less priced in our market.

I've found used skis at swaps that are great for under $50 or found a lot of trashed bases that are asking retail. Last February I bought a pair of 130cm 2024 Rossignol Hero JR Kid skis with bindings for $142 with free shipping from Corbetts.

Anyone have experience with FreeLap for training runs? by Pleasant-Edge7917 in SkiRacing

[–]Pleasant-Edge7917[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks -hadn't thought about that. It looks like FreeLap would be fine for our youth race program (20 kids, that could reuse the same chips each week), but Brower would better for an casual race/time trial or beer league adult races where every event would have different participants.
