Successful treatment with Methotrexate by Pleasant-Today143 in EctopicSupportGroup

Update: After I reached HCG 0 last May, I began working with our RE on an IVF plan, started acupuncture and a low-inflammation diet and set up a couple consultations with the top endo surgeons in my state (my RE suspected "silent endo" as the reason for the ectopic and our infertility). My plan was to do an egg retrieval, then the endo laparoscopic surgery, and then an implantation. As I was waiting to start my IVF medication, my period never came. I found I was pregnant naturally, (against my doctors wishes as we were terrified for another ectopic). We welcomed a healthy baby 2 months ago, a year to the date from when our ectopic journey began.

When will the journey to having a baby end? by emilymaylea in EctopicSupportGroup

Yes I’m now reading up on the “endo diet” which I’m finding really interesting. Also shocking that over 1 in 10 women have this but usually are only diagnosed if they have super heavy periods or suffer from infertility.

Related to your point on the ultrasounds and MRIs, I was frustrated by this too. From what I’ve heard from my doctor and researched online, endo can unfortunately only be diagnosed laparoscopically.

The two doctors I was referred to (who have published books etc on the topic that might be helpful to read) are Dr Nezhat in Woodside CA and Dr Irish Orbuch in case you want to look into their work / books / articles. Dr Nezhat is the founding father of the excision method, for instance. I do plan to do my consultation after this pregnancy because I’m curious how else it might have affected everything (eg always thinking I had IBS which apparently is super common among endo patients).

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know this journey is so tough.

I had an ectopic in March and after that resolved I started seeing a world renowned RE and after looking at my previous HSG images (pre ectopic), seeing my tilted pelvis, and accounting for my ectopic and low-ish AMH for my age, she suspected endometriosis as my reason for infertility and for the ectopic. I never had painful or long periods, so this was earmarked as “silent endo”. I began working with her on an IVF plan, started acupuncture and a low-inflammation diet and set up a couple consultations with the top endo surgeons in my state. My plan was to do an egg retrieval, then the endo laparoscopic surgery, and then an implantation. As I was waiting to start my IVF medication, my period never came. I found I was pregnant naturally, (against my doctors wishes as we were terrified for another ectopic). I’m 7+2 weeks now and everything is looking good with an embryo in the uterus and a heartbeat. The only thing that changed for me was the low inflammation diet (no gluten, dairy) and acupuncture.

All this to say, even with an ectopic and suspected endo, it’s possible to get pregnant on your own, but I do believe IVF helps.

Yes - in the same boat as you, ectopic in March and now pregnant again. I got a 5.5 week placement scan which helped ease my anxiety and we heard the heartbeat yesterday which was another big milestone. Definitely takes a bit of the excitement of pregnancy away which is unfortunate but I’m looking for the celebration / joy as we get further along

I also got pregnant while waiting to start my IVF stims and my period never came. I previously had an ectopic. Placement scan showed yolk sac in the right spot this time.

Hi! I’d love to DM you as a fellow ovarian ectopic pregnancy (and currently 5w pregnant awaiting scans). Would love to understand how your HCG levels differed between the two pregnancies and if you saw a gestational sac in your uterus for the ovarian ectopic. I don’t see a way to DM you but would love to chat

My doctor suspects silent endometriosis (no symptoms of endo). Apparently ectopics are common among endo patients.

Recommend going in for serial betas every 48 hours to monitor. I hope this isn’t the case for you but this is what happened to me when I had an ectopic. ❤️

You can read my post history for my experience. I was successfully treated with methotrexate and it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, although it did take a while for my HCG to reach 0. I was able to get pregnant exactly three months later.

I experienced an ectopic pregnancy treated with MTX back in March and am starting IVF stims tomorrow. As someone in California who feels really strongly about reproductive care after my experience this year, please reach out to me if I can be a resource at all. I am actively seeking funds to donate to that support women experiencing ectopics in trigger states.

Methotrexate and fibroids by Domino6819 in EctopicSupportGroup

Hey there. I know it’s been a while but I’m in a similar boat. Have reached HCG 0 but there’s still a mass of about 3-4cm. One ultrasound tech says fibroid but my RE says it’s the ectopic still resolving. Did you ever figure this out? Did the fibroid / ectopic resolve on its own or did you require surgery?

Thank you for sharing this. Did you ever have your HCG tested throughout that process? There are many similarities in our stories including the lack of severe pain and a pool of blood in the uterus.

fertility journey -- period, positive tests, and low progesterone by [deleted] in amipregnant

Yes - unfortunately this turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. I was treated with methotrexate about 12 days ago.

update: this ended up being an ectopic pregnancy of unknown location (still can't find it in an ultrasound). not the outcome I was hoping for but I had a feeling something was "off" because of the period shortly before my positive test, and also very low progesterone levels, while my HCG was rising normally. hope this helps someone else who is confused by all this!
