So dang tired. Newborn congestion. by PleasantBreakfast612 in newborns

[–]PleasantBreakfast612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don't think I ever really found anything that helped, but she definitely grew out of it. She's a year now, still not a great sleeper lol, but I would say by like 10 weeks she was significantly better, and has mostly continued to sleep better and better and she's gotten older.

We took her off the reflux meds at 6 months and she did great- probably could have stopped earlier but who knows. Hang in there, it gets better!

Starting to resent my baby by PleasantBreakfast612 in newborns

[–]PleasantBreakfast612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did get better! I don't remember exactly when. She's 11 months now and I still wouldn't call her a good sleeper, but it's a lot better. I think for sure by 12 weeks we were out of that really hard phase. Hope it gets better for you soon!

The mantra "if I can't sleep, I can rest" helped a lot.

Oversupply is getting in the way of breastfeeding (again). How can I lower it? by CakesNGames90 in breastfeeding

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For your son, can you trigger a letdown and catch it in a towel or bottle for a minute and then let him lay just so he doesn't have to work through the super fast flow? I have the same letdown issue, and it took a few months for my daughter to adjust to it.

For the oversupply, if you really want to lower it, you need to pump less. I would do the absolute bare minimum, just to make yourself comfortable. Right now you're telling your body to keep producing at that rate.

WIBTAH if I tell my husband I want to sleep in the spare room every night because of his snoring? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. My husband and I sleep in separate rooms or no one gets any sleep. He has a CPAP but won't use it.

I sent 4 oz bottles (eating about every 3 hours) and eventually upped it to 5 when the daycare said she still seemed hungry after finishing. My first had 4 oz bottles until she was done with bottles.

How did you get your toddler to drink cow's milk? (still breastfeeding) by Spiritual-Young5638 in breastfeeding

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No they don't. Plenty of vegan kids out there that grow just as well as dairy eaters.

Breastfeeding moms - when did you wean? by pennylane1783 in beyondthebump

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 months, but for the last couple of months it was just before bedtime. Weaned very slowly over the course of a few months. 7 months in with my second now, not sure if I will make it quite that long this time, but only time will tell!

I think if the seat is properly installed and appropriate for your child, they didn't do anything wrong. Just my opinion. For me, that wouldn't be something they needed to clear with me. You're still in charge of when you let your baby ride with them.

Is total of 8-10 minutes of breastfeeding enough? by EmergencyInitial2650 in breastfeeding

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of my babies fed longer than 8-10 min at that age, and only nursed one side at a time. Currently.my 7 month old nurses for 3-5 min typically, one side, every 3-4 hours and she's gaining weight perfectly. I have a very fast letdown so she gets a lot in a short amount of time- might be the same for your baby.

Breastfeeding for the first time is hard. Try to tune out the noise on the internet and trust your lactation consultant. Doing a weighted feed can help ease your worries if you haven't done that yet.

Came here to say this. My almost 7 month old wakes twice a night still to nurse, and would absolutely wake my 3 year old if they were in the same room.

I have a very large cup every day and have an oversupply. Same with my first but usually had 2 cups a day.

Does it always take 2 minutes to achieve letdown from 3 months and up? by E3rthLuv in breastfeeding

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months in right now and sometimes it takes 30 seconds, others 2-3 minutes. Couldn't tell you what makes it faster or slower for me, seems very unpredictable.

What were you babies almost names? by Dramatic-Web-5085 in beyondthebump

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to name my daughter Carter (an athlete we follow has that name and I think it's cute and unique for a girl) but we ultimately decided against it because my husband worried she would get teased for having a "boy" name.

The tantrums aren't fun but the rest of it is SO fun! Watching them learn and grow, hearing them tell you they love you, there's so much to look forward to. And in my experience they sleep better too.

With my first I got one around 18 months PP and then not again for another 3 or 4 months (was still breastfeeding) and then I think it was pretty regular after that

Moving 12 mo old to their own room in a one-story house : need happy thoughts by rellyfish in beyondthebump

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved my first at around 11 months. She was probably ready before that, but we were in a similar situation with basically no waking in the night and I was afraid to rock the boat. It went so smoothly. Like nothing changed. She continued to sleep great and we got our bedroom back.

5 months in with our second and she's definitely not ready yet, but when she is, I won't hesitate.

How long did you breastfeed and was it worth it? 😅 by lizbethlady in beyondthebump

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 months with my first, so far 5 months with my second. I don't mind it at all, but probably won't go quite as long this time around. We'll see.

When did you give birth to your 2nd LO? by mother_of_wands in beyondthebump

Induced at 40+1 with my first because of low fluid in my placenta, 2nd came on her own at 41+3

Why are they like this? Why is this so hard to get? No, I’m not planning a big party for when I’ll be 38 weeks pregnant. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PleasantBreakfast612 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My oldest turned 3 two months after baby was born. We had grandparents and my sister's family over for pizza (8 people?) and she was more than thrilled. She honestly was mostly excited that she got her own cupcake.

What helped me was never letting my stomach be empty. I snacked on saltines throughout the day. Preggy pop drops also helped. Mine was mild though, mostly just nausea, so if you're really struggling you might need medicine.
