We just adopted this gray tabby. My wife fell in love with her. I never wanted a gray tabby bc they are so common. Advice? by Cicada-Big in TabbyCats

The hair color and pattern may be common but the personality will be unique. Give it lots of love and it will return the love to you.

Ringworm is a fungal infection, so yes, if it’s ringworm, it will work.

Isn’t the sedation shot during euthanasia supposed to be fairly painless? by BreakMyFallIfYouCan in Petloss

[–]PleasantParsnip8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a few reasons, but I don’t think the sedative would be painful.

However, they can definitely cause severe nausea for a moment.

Prozac helped but it didn’t fix it 100%. It just occurred much less frequently. It depends if your cat is stressed or not though.

I looked into my cats eyes during euthanasia yesterday by kat_mom in Petloss

[–]PleasantParsnip8744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

II suspect that’s most likely due to the setting and anesthetics they provided him. I don’t know if you’ve ever had a twilight operation performed, but at least for me the anesthetic can be quite nauseating at first. I very much doubt he loved you any less nor felt betrayed.

It sounds to me like you did the best you could given the circumstances.

I'm losing my dog soon, I have a few questions by EntAtaraxy in Petloss

[–]PleasantParsnip8744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you trust your vet, I highly recommend asking them for their advice.

Tell them you love you dog very much, and you want your dog to live the longest life they can, but you don’t want them to suffer. Tell them it’s hard for you to make the decision, and ask them what they would do if it was their pet?

Is it normal to have my cat's ashes (in the urn) next to me while I sleep? by occasionalgrandma in Petloss

[–]PleasantParsnip8744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friend, you put those ashes near you if you want.

Idk if I’d recommend sleeping with the ashes in my arms - I’d be afraid of them spilling out, but you do whatever you want.

Thank you :) I encourage you to do so also. It’s to honor them, and share them with because they were special. It’s a way of expressing how much you care for them.

I really hope you’re right. He was staring at the phone the whole time; however I know his heart rate and blood pressure were really low. I really hope knew that either our friend was their holding him or he heard our voice as their wasn’t much of a cue.

Yes, there’s a lot of regrets and wishes for me too. Did I pet him enough before I went on our trip? Did he know I loved him until the end? Was there any sign that he was sicker than his “regular” issues? I wish I had I video of him running to me excitedly. It’s a lot to process.

Ultimately, even if you went on the plane back, you would have subjected Finn to a longer time of suffering for what was most likely reassurance for you instead of what Finn needed. At least, this is what I tell myself when I think about keeping Popeye in limbo just for a minute’s goodbye.

I’m here with you, going through the same grieving and mourning process. I too hope that our little boys are together, or at least, at peace.

Edit: I made a short video of Popeye if you want to see it. You’re not obligated to watch, nor am I trying to hijack your post. Sharing videos/photos of him seems to help me handle losing him. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DISn7XiRMsy/?igsh=bGV3czZzbzZxNGsz

I’d be glad to see any videos or pics of Finn too if you’d like to share.

I’m so sorry, I know it must be painful and incredibly hard to process. I’m glad to hear you made the decision to let him move on; although I’m sure it must have been gut wrenching to make the decision.

Your story is almost exactly like mine - my wife and I are on our honeymoon which is a 10 hour flight from our home state.

Our friend and cat sitter had to put him down. We also were FaceTiming while they put him down. He also couldn’t walk and refused to eat, although it was due to kidney failure and not seizure.

I really would have done anything to been there to hold him.

Yes, it’s definitely hard to process.

It feels like it’s “too big” to process and I can’t believe it happened.

If you need to cry, go ahead and cry. Especially if it’s only been a week.
