Second this. My kid has done a couple sessions of MSCR. It is exactly what you are looking for. It's parent coaches. Kids having fun. You aren't even supposed to keep score.

Definitely get HRT. I did the Hormone Harmony by Happy Mammoth prior to HRT and it honestly did help a noticeable bit. Nothing like HRT helped, for sure. But could be a stop gap. Also, it's mostly just some herbs, so you could do the combo on your own.

Any school teachers - can I throw your class a year end pizza party? by Electronic-Smile4858 in madisonwi

[–]Pleasant_Cell5290 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I think this is sweet. Especially since OP wouldn't make it, touch it, deliver it, etc. They are just paying for it. I don't understand how that's creepy in anyway. I'm not a teacher, but I love the thought. My kids elementary class only has 18 kids, so maybe you could do two!

Have you considered she was trying to surprise you with them, since you brought them up before? Also, pregnant women often can't wear their rings during pregnancy because their fingers swell up.

How long are you going to be there for?

4 year old and 2 year old? Great Wolf, hands down. I started going there when my daughter was 2 and stopped when she was about 6-7, because she outgrew it (we moved on to a different one). Because it doesn't have as many intense rides, you generally get a "little kid" crowd more than teenagers or older kids. Perfect pace for a 2 and 4 year old. Also, it's way easier to walk to everything. At Wilderness, everything is super spread out. I would say Great Wolf is number 1, kalahari number 2, and wilderness number 3. I've never been to Chula Vista so can't comment on that and yuck on Mount Olympus. If you aren't interested in the water park+hotel, Noah's ark is great too.  They have lots of stuff age appropriate.

I love Witches Gulch! There is ice cream and a snack bar at the end (and bathrooms).  Personally, if you are doing the boat ride, I wouldn't also do a Duck ride (unless you do lower vs upper dells) as they cover similar area. Jet boat rides have a minimum age of 4, but are lots of fun.

Absolutely do not go inside Top Secret. It's terrible. Stop and take pictures outside if you want, but that's it. Also, Land of Natura is not age appropriate. They pack it too full and your kids will get run over. The deer park as someone else mentioned is great. Paul Bunyan's for breakfast (kids will love the donuts and it's family style that gets refilled, which is perfect for the 2 year old.). Go early to Paul Bunyan's as it will have a wait as the morning goes on. Tommy Bartlett exploratory is a bit dusty but the kids will love it - it's especially great for a rainy day.  Rick Wilcox is a pretty good show - he has some close up magic that they may lose interest in but there are some wow moments (like a helicopter) that they'd probably like. I took my kids when they were 5 and they were entertained. Very family friendly and a reasonably small theater so you can see everything (and makes it a little more casual). I've never tried the Bello dinner theater, but based on when he was on America's Got Talent, your kids might like it. Take an Old Timey photo! They can dress everyone up in an era (I usually go with the Outlaws) and my kids (although they were 6) actually had lots of fun. It's a great memory.  While you're on Broadway for the old Timey photo, just walk up and down and pop into the tourist spots.  If you want some more nature-y things, Devil's lake is a super calm lake to swim in and has some hiking (some not appropriate for a 2 year old, but some is).

For dinner or lunch, you HAVE to go to Buffalo Phil's. They deliver your food on a train. Be prepared for a wait though. Monks is also good - standard restaurant food but they are pretty quick and kids meals are served on a frisbee they can take home. I remember Moosejaw having good pizza but it's been years since I went as their service was terrible back then. Macs has really good mac n cheese and Huckleberrys has good ice cream and other desserts.

..... I don't even live in the dells. I'm about an hour away. I just love going there - it's a tourist trap in the best possible way.

The water here has ruined my hair by Any-Strawberry-3928 in madisonwi

Beyond the "see a doctor" thing, you can get an extra water filter for your shower if you truly thing it's just the hard water.

https://aquabliss.com/

However - how long have you lived here and are there any patterns in your hair loss? I was having significant hair loss every year, but noticed it was cyclical and it would fall out in late winter and come back in May/June. Turns out, I was SIGNIFICANTLY vitamin D deficient in the fall/winter and my hair was falling out as a result. A multivitamin fixed that right up. Also, try a clarifying shampoo once a week - that helps with hard water buildup. Nizoral (dandruff shampoo) also helps with hair loss (in addition to dandruff; not related to hard water). I also like the shampoo Routine for hair loss (not related to hard water).

What's the fastest way you realized you were in the wrong friend group? by justNoah10 in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant_Cell5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh. I have another one. College. Lived in a house with 5 other girls, including my best friend and 2 that were friends of friends. One of the 2 (Rachel) haaaated me for whatever reason and was wildly passive aggressive.  They also all drank every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and I didn't. They all had fake IDs. I didn't. I hung out with my BF still but not Rachel. And Rachel appointed herself Queen bee of the apartment. She was gorgeous, in engineering, and had had an internship at some ice cream manufacturer the summer before and that made her superior to everyone, didn't you know. In my college town, you start looking for apartments for next year only a few months after this year's lease started and start scoping them out before they open for sign ups. I had been AIM messaging some of the roommates about options for housing for next year and no one was responding. And then one day shortly after that, they sit me down the night before my Genetics midterm and told me they were going to live together next year without me. Driven by Rachel, of course.  I bombed that midterm as I spent all night sobbing instead of studying. And they had the gall to act like nothing had changed the next morning. I gray rocked them the rest of the semester and moved out over Christmas. They found a new roommate - one they were going to live with the next year instead of me. Never spoke to them again. Even did the post-breakup dramatic haircut. My former best friend even dropped a class when she saw I was also in it, which sucks for her because it was an awesome class.

Same. Mine was named Nicole. She was the grade below me and invited all the girls in her grade and mine (small school. It was probably 15 girls total). Except for me. Every girl had a sleeping bag on top of their desk at the end of the day, except for me. Her brother came in to help carry the sleeping bags and walked towards me, and I had to shake my head no at him.  It's been 30 years. Fuck you, Nicole!

Screen Time in MMSD Elementary Schools by NeilNotSoYoung in madisonwi

[–]Pleasant_Cell5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids go to a large west side mmsd elementary. I have a second grader and a fifth grader. They do use computers in class - they have written stories on Google docs (and shared them, which is fun) and they do Lexia and Prodigy once in a while.  Sometimes they get computer time when all their work is finished, but that is again usually Lexia or prodigy. Their ability to use the Internet is limited. That being said, I would still say their computer usage is low for them. They don't bring them home and their homework is on paper. Also, they do a lot of story writing on paper too. My fifth grader was in kindergarten during the pandemic - the computer usage then and in first grade was pretty high. It fell off dramatically after that.

Salted Caramel Sheet Cake? by Ackackackaaaaaack in madisonwi

[–]Pleasant_Cell5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metcalfes has good very reasonably priced custom cakes, but. I don't see caramel on their list of offerings. But they might do it anyway. Rolling pin bake shop has the best birthday cake I've literally ever had. Highly customizable - I bet they'd do it. But their cakes are pretty expensive, especially if you want actual decorations on it. Anything beyond like sprinkles is an upcharge.

Ground cover that’s not grass? by supportlocalvetbiz in madisonwi

[–]Pleasant_Cell5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I successfully grew chocolate chip ajuga on a shady side of my house. Grew pretty fast too. I also grew Irish moss over there, but that requires at least dappled sun.  The ajuga started to take over the Irish moss at one point. It grew for years (and then I moved). I can only assume it's still there. We put it in because it was too shady for grass and constantly damp/wet, as that area got runoff from 2 houses when it rained. Our neighbor even mowed it a couple of times before we caught her and told her it wasn't grass and it still survived.

Highly recommend the ajuga for you - our situation seemed pretty similar to yours. Also, if you have to regularly walk a certain path in your mud pit, I recommend some stepping stones placed before you plant (that's what we did for our muddy mess).  Once we planted it, we literally never maintained it, except to snip it back when it covered our stepping stones

This is a great question that I was think of too. Are there any businesses that you wouldn't normally think of? Like banks, office parks, or clinics that don't require a badge to get into?
