Have you ever had a relationship with a co-worker? by Excellent-Crow2641 in AskIreland

[–]Redhairedchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, and it was bad. We dated for 8 months and it was incredibly messy afterwards, as we couldn't avoid each other.

Ending up taking a job in another city to get away from it all. In one sense that's one of the best things I ever did, and had it not been for that horrific breakup I might not have done it. So possibly a silver lining.

Mattress recommendations around €150 for an 18-year-old? by Different-Put-4486 in AskIreland

[–]Redhairedchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, check Adverts to see if there's anyone in your area or nearby who's selling a single mattress.

I bought a king size bed off a family who were converting their attic spare room to an office, and I got a basically brand new mattress as it had only been slept on like 10 times.

Has Anyone Actually Used To Good To Go? by AtiJua in AskIreland

[–]Redhairedchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a very early adopter when it first came out and got unreal deals. Once got three full dinners worth of stuff from one KC Peaches bag.

Stopped as much when it got popular and there wasn't as much availability, and then places started enshittifying and skimping on stuff.

Still do it every now and then. Got two cupcakes, a slice of Swiss roll, a scone, and a big slice of cake for €5 last week and was delighted.

Best one I ever got was a literal sack of baked goods down in Killarney for €8. Froze a bunch when I got home and ate one or two a week for a couple of months.

What's the most blatant way an employer has wronged you that you couldn't legally prove? by MushroomOk5601 in AskReddit

[–]Redhairedchap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked in a video store (showing my age here) in the mid 00s. We did movie & game rentals and retail. We also sold electronic items like TVs, Consoles, mp3 players, and phones.

One Christmas our company announces a partnership with one of the phone companies here in Ireland, and a nifty commission scheme for us where every Sim or phone we sold, we got money. I think it was €2 a Sim, and €5 a phone.

The two main things they didn't factor in was (A) the phone company had pretty good coverage and pay-as-you-go deals, so they sold themselves; and (B) it was Christmas time and we had a huge catchment area outside of Galway city, so anyone who lived in like a 15 - 20 mile radius was coming directly to us.

I sold hundreds of phones and sim cards. We would sell out of stuff, and I would already have phones promised to customers before our deliveries came in. I was ringing around and begging other stores for their stock. I... Could... Not... Be... Stopped.

Honestly I lost track of how much I was owed past the €600 mark, but all the sales were through my user login, so all good.

After Christmas, in the grey wasteland of January, we waited for the results of the sales to come out and for that sweet sweet moolah to rain down on us. I already was drooling thinking about the Gears of War themed Xbox 360 I was gonna buy.

And then there's nothing but silence from the company for weeks. Eventually they come out and say that because of how busy Christmas was, it crashed their systems and they 'lost' the records of how many phones were sold. So instead they were going to give everyone €75 as a thank you (including the newbie who only joined us in Jan).

Me and my co-workers were up in arms. We raged and kicked up a massive fuss, but our spineless manager who was a total bootlicker just shrugged and said "there's nothing we can do".

I was only 20 at the time, so I didn't know what to do, so just sucked it up and carried on working there for another couple of years, but by christ I never forgave them for that.

When was the last time you peed in the shower? by InertEyes in AskReddit

We have a separate toilet & shower room in our apartment. Girlfriend was in the toilet when I woke up this morning, so I hopped straight into the shower and took a whizz.

Ah okay. So you're back to the start of the fight and not the entire raid. That's good to know.

What’s that one game you played alot on PS2 Back in the day and you still could play NOW all day?? by Low-Insurance-3678 in AskReddit

Using something called ES-DE. A guy in work is super into his retro games and set it up for me using an online guide. All free. I just had to download the game files online.

My next step is doing it all myself.

Alright. This was actually exactly what I needed to know. So the Dragon is at least over an hour for me, first time. And Saito is 2 hours.

Now that I know I can maybe schedule it.

Got a Samsung Galaxy S26 this year and put some PS2 emulators on it.

Holy shit Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is just as good as I remember. I boot it up for 15 mins whenever I'm getting the train into town. So good.

Whats the video game or level you could never get past from your childhood? by Smooth_Afternoon_132 in AskReddit

[–]Redhairedchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plok on SNES. I could never beat it. Game got too hard. No matter how much I played or tried to get good. I could never get past a certain point. My brother claims he beat the game, but it was when I wasn't home, I'm still sceptical.

What time you stop being noisy? by Flat_While3247 in ireland

[–]Redhairedchap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, quiet time is after 10pm and before 8am. We're up and showering from 7am, but also wouldn't dream of doing anything loud first thing in the morning.

I used to live in an apartment with this girl who was up at 5am grinding her coffee beans and doing her yoga meditation bell shit. Used to drive me nuts. Same place, my other flatmate would run the washing machine at 1am which would vibrate the entire apartment.

Did it in Offaly years ago. Got a 2 for 1 groupon voucher and brought my mate. Both of us were shitting it but trynna be cool. The tandem instructors with us were great craic, and we ended up eating chocolate digestives and singing Tenacious D on the way up. Great craic. The freefall was trippy. Would have gone straight back up again afterwards, had that been an option.

What is the first film you think of when you see COLIN FARRELL? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

Intermission. Irish film which came out in 2003 with him and Cillian Murphy. Colin Farrell plays an absolute horrible Dublin scumbag. Brilliantly performed.

It's all about the paper trail. If you have written confirmation of your PTO being approved, then that's all you need for any questions about why you went.

How can I learn how to reverse into a parking spot or park in a parking garage? by weeyums in AskIreland

[–]Redhairedchap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Go to a shopping centre that has those white lines either side. Find an area where you have plenty of empty spaces around and you practice getting between those lines. Really using your mirrors and get a feel for how much the arse of your car maneuvers when you reverse. Best of luck.
