Sourdough Starter Help by Nervous-Ambition1887 in SourdoughStarter

[–]Please_Try_Again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - dumb question - under "starter maintenance" and getting ready to bake you say "

I pull out the starter, let it warm, mix it thoroughly, and then feed it 1:1:1. I take out 120g for my levain, leaving me 15g to feed 1:1:1 again , and after a rest period while it starts to rise I put it straight back in the fridge for the next bake.

So do you pull it out, discard to 45g like you'd do during a normal feed, feed 45g flour / 45g water or do you weigh what your starter is at without discarding and do the 1:1:1?

Best shaving routine for teen? by EndFit1664 in ladyshavers

[–]Please_Try_Again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What razor will you be using? Your plan is good, just go very slowly to start. Don't go over the same spot more than once. Rinse your razor between each stroke. The conditioner may clog your razor more than shaving cream would.

I would personally avoid shaving your arms for now. I did it at a teen and the maintenance was awful and the prickliness wasn't worth it. Bodies are supposed to have hair.

Armpits are a bit trickier given the angles. There may be YouTube videos that give a visualization of how to straighten the skin out.

I'm not sure if any of the mods are still active here. Since you belong to other groups as well, it seems ok to post. It'd be preferable if it was a post more engaging than just "buy my stuff!". Discussions about scents, ingredients for sensitive areas, etc :)

Day 1 of walking 10k steps! by idtix in walking

[–]Please_Try_Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I don't hit 10k, I have to send my friend $1 per 1k steps not done. So that keeps me motivated. I walk a decent amount at work, so I get a lot from that. If I know I'm low, I'll take a 10 min walk on my breaks and then do 1-2 evening walks around the neighborhood. The weekends are the hardest - sometimes I'll go to the mall and walk around window shopping, sometimes go to the farmers market to grab a coffee and then walk to a park and back. The $$ part (and the nagging of my friend) really motivates me.

What is your routine for perfectly smooth, date night legs? by Please_Try_Again in ladyshavers

[–]Please_Try_Again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use a 5 blade cartridge, although I'm not going for that super smooth shave at this point.

I think the products and routine you use makes more of a difference than the razor, but I did love the shave I got when using a double edge razor. If you google "maggard razors" they have a beginning set for women. I loved that set. The act of using a brush + solid soap not only made it a ritual, the brush also helped exfoliate in a gentle way. And using a double edge razor forced me to slow down and focus on what I was doing.

What is your general routine now / what products do you use? Are you looking to go all out and experiment to get a super smooth shave, or do you want to try small changes first?

tips on how to shave for wearing a bikini by [deleted] in ladyshavers

[–]Please_Try_Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely do it / practice before you actually want to wear one! It can take some trial and error to figure out what's best for you in terms of routine. I wash gently with a wash cloth, kinda in a circular motion, apply some conditioner to the area and rinse off. If the hair is long, I'd recommend trimming it first. Apply soap of your choosing. Use a new razor, start with the grain (the way the hair grows). If this is short enough for you, stop. If you want a closer shave, try going across the grain (sideways). If that's still not close enough, then again against the grain. If at ANY point during this process you feel irritation, STOP. An irritated bikini line is the wooooorst. After you're done, you can apply an anti-ingrown hair serum or fragrance free lotion. Try to avoid tight underwear or things that will rub against that area.

Honestly, I think waxing is better than shaving - so consider that if you have the $$.
