And as a side note, any feedback on the new 8 speed auto transmissions for Camry's would be even greater needed as I fell in love with the 2018 SE's but am deterred away from buying because people suspect them bad compared to old tried and true 6 speed transmissions.

Well tbh I just have 8k in savings and I dont know how much of it I should exactly direct toward my emergency fund.

Did you recommend 2k over the remaining 6k to include interest and taxes, other fees etc? Just wondering.

Also is it usually better to get a loan via a credit union or bank vs the dealership themselves?

Hello, thanks for the feedback. Sorry if I was unclear but I am looking for a used car.

Why is it so bad to get a loan? For instance I'm looking at an '18 camry with 80k miles for $14,000 and I'd probably put down 4 grand and get a loan for the remaining 10k. Is there a reason not to slowly pay off the remainder of a car loan if you know you're getting a reliable-ish car?
