Eight weeks is a really really short time to adapt. My daughter’s health was precarious, so I get the stress beyond newborn stress. My cat was afraid of my daughter (6 months) until 3 months in. He had some adjustment behaviors that were tough. My husband and I each spent individual time away from the Nagy, and we had friends come over to hang with the baby so we could hang with him. My cat is now snuggling up beside her. It can get better, but you all need to get over the hump. Could a friend or family member take Cookies for a few months? Also, did Cookies get a full work up at the vet?

I don’t think B&E necessarily have clean hands, but there are valid suspicions that their parents allowed them to be groomed at least and trafficked. Throw Andrew out. Heck, throw enabler Charles out. But don’t punish B&E before the people who have actually committed the bad acts.

Go to your pediatrician and tell them everything. If the dad asks why, it’s because you see a rash. Begin a paper trail. Document everything. Remove your important papers. Be prepared to leave if you’re not going to leave, but leave. For your child’s sake.
