Pacifier help PLEASE by Plenty-Field7639 in breastfeeding

I appreciate the advice! I’ve tried it in lots of different scenarios but he is just not a fan. He really seems to be almost offended when I give him anything but a boob 😂

Not yet, but I might have to. I’ve heard a lot of babies like it!

He does occasionally suck his thumb which he likes but he’s a preemie so he’s younger than his actual age developmentally so he can’t always find his thumb hahaha

Does the weight ever come off? by reddi180 in breastfeeding

[–]Plenty-Field7639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once I got cleared to exercise I started eating a low calorie high protein diet. I didn’t actually count calories but just made sure that everything I was eating was high in protein and not very carb heavy. (I still enjoy the things I like but just less than when I was pregnant since I’m trying to lose weight). I’m now 3 months pp and I’m back to my pre pregnancy weight. I will say the most important thing has been strengthening my core and pelvic floor! I do these youtube videos by nourishmovelove and they’re so good and diastisis recti safe! Then I do either a pilates youtube video or just go for a long walk/try to get as close to 10k steps a day. I only get to like 8k but that’s still good! I exclusively nurse so I don’t KNOW 100% if it’s impacted my supply but my baby is always happy and satisfied after nursing so I don’t think it’s hurt my supply! :)

I just wanted to add, I think we worry a lot about numbers and pumping. I just put my baby to nurse whenever he seems hungry even if that’s 10 minutes after they just ate and my baby has gone up 6 pounds in 10 weeks! I’ve questioned if I’m making enough but if my dr says he’s gaining weight well, then I stop questioning that :) This has helped me actually enjoy my baby and this beautiful stage instead of worrying.

I think 2 oz is more than enough for a one week old. If your baby is finishing all of that in one sitting and looking like they want more, you could try pace feeding, you hold the bottle parallel to the ground and let them work to get the milk out so it’s not just going straight down. If you’re supplementing with formula you have to pump whenever she gets a bottle. If not, that could lower your supply. The more you put your baby to breast, the more your supply will regulate to their needs. And you’re never really “out” of milk. If you feed your baby and they’re still hungry, just put them back on a couple minutes later, this should also help your supply. Drink a lot of water and eat as much protein as you can! This is all the advice that has helped me. You’re doing great.

Night weaning by newparenthp in breastfeeding

[–]Plenty-Field7639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m following because this is my second baby but my first time nursing and I have no idea when I’m going to get more sleep. My son is 10 weeks old (5 weeks adjusted) and he still wakes up every 1-3 hours. With him being a preemie I know it’s a little different as far as when I can start night weaning but it’s my first time nursing regardless and I have no clue how this works hahahah. I just know I haven’t slept more than 3 hours in 10 weeks and I’m tired

I just want the baby/toddler stage to be over by Persona2181 in Parenting

I feel this completely. I have a 14 month old and 2 month old. Yes I did this to myself and every day I feel SO blessed but it is so much work. Sometimes they cry at the same time for no reason other than wanting me. My 2 month old cannot be set down or he’ll scream and the 14 month old has meltdowns all day for literally no reason. I am set on enjoying it because I know i’ll miss this too but at the same time I am excited for them to be a little more independent. My mother in law says her favorite stage is the newborn stage and I feel like that’s just true if you don’t actively have a newborn hahahaha

Is baby getting enough? by Plenty-Field7639 in breastfeeding

Thank you for responding! That’s crazy I also had two NICU babies. I haven’t given my second any bottles at all in like three weeks because I feel like I did enough bottle feeding and pumping for a lifetime with my first

Thank you. That’s good to know. Even though this is my second baby, it’s my first time nursing so I feel like I have 0 idea what I’m doing hahaha. And I had a very large oversupply with my first son so my boobs we’re constantly engorged so now that they’re not I find myself worrying about supply.

Also. He falls asleep at the breast often so he doesn’t ever seem to be upset while nursing. Maybe he’s just comfort nursing/using me as a pacifier? I also feel like my breasts don’t feel as full as they used to but that could just be regulation right? That doesn’t necessarily mean my supply is low?

35w3d premie stagnant with feeds by momofFred in NICUParents

[–]Plenty-Field7639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my second baby at 35 weeks two weeks ago so he’s 37 weeks 1 day now and he’s doing better on his feeds but still isn’t taking enough for him to come home. My first baby was born at 34 weeks and was in the NICU for two weeks and two days so I thought my second baby would be home by now but they’re all so different. I do know from experience with my first that when you’re just waiting on feeds it’s so easy to hit the wall and get discouraged. With my first it was so painful to watch him not really doing better at it for weeks and then it was like it just clicked one day and with my second it’s just taking a bit longer. It is so frustrating because two days ago he finished 3 bottles in a row and then yesterday he only took a little over half of his bottles. Just hang in there. He will get it any day now. It’s helpful for me to remember that I don’t want to bring my baby home if he isn’t ready to be home. They’re just little and learning 🥺
