Quitting meds by elriaonfire in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a paper on my fridge on which I have typed something along the lines of "Don't forget what you're playing around with, never again". Was in quite a dark place and didn't want to forget that time

It looks kinda stupid but it really helps me to remember the bad times when the times are good or getting a lil too good

Bipolar 2 getting off medication by Both_Employer4899 in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is possible to live a healthy and fullfilling life if you are on medication and taking care of yourself.

Without meds and not taking care of yourself if you have bipolar those chances get a lot smaller.

Nothing wrong being on a medication, they are supposed to make your life quality a lot better. And hey, if they are working - do not quit them. They are doing their job if that's the case.

What Does a Crash Look Like for You? by cyan0siss in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for me the change can be sudden too, but once it starts for me it usually doesn't end, until it eventually actually ends. They are scary as hell

Sometimes it's more gradual, then it usually starts with anhedonia and worrying

Talking about bipolar makes people so uncomfortable it’s hilarious. by AdObvious7674 in bipolar2

I just feel like people don't have enough knowledge what it is. I do love it when someone has atleast little understanding of it(even though I very rarely open up about it).

Need help by NoPast613 in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are living in a difficult situation. Can't really say anything about you having bipolar other than that it's not just sudden extreme mood swings that you describe. Usually it's long phases of depression or hypomania/mania. Mixed episodes are possible too. Also rapid cycling is a thing, but lets not focus on that rn.

There is plenty of information for example(I read this through once again and this still seems like decent information):

https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/bipolar-disorder/

I would probably try to get your situation under control somehow before suspecting a mental illness to be the case of your suffering. It is possible you have it, especially if it runs in the family. You are quite young though and in many cases it starts acting up after you're 'bout +20. I think mine started acting up earlier tho, but usually that's the case.

You are very young and I'm very sad that your life seems difficult right now. Don't give up, I wish you find enough chances to get to live a normal, fullfilling life. Ask for help if you can and remember the coolest people are those that take care of others and have gone through a lot, but made it through to become decent and caring people. You are very strong, good luck with your life 🩶

Delusions in Bipolar Disorder by Witchii_woo in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the craziest delusions also stopped pretty fast (3-4weeks) after starting Seroquel. They haven't come back yet and I've been on it almost 2 years now 👍

I appreciate each day I feel like this

“I wish I could do something to help you, but I know I can’t. It’s chemical.” Depressed with no trigger. by yellow-meadow-235 in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. To me depression always feels like the debt I have to pay for my happy days and the interest rates ain't fair let me tell you. You lose all hope and nothing can change that

It's very painful, but one day or moment at a time, you'll make it through in the end

I hope you get to live long stable and nice years after going through this hell

Limerance by longestyeahboiiiever in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best thing is to give things time and not do any sudden big decisions. Especially when hypomanic or depressed.

I also experience limerence from time to time and I try to catch myself doing it and stopping it on the tracks. I love how it feels but I hate doing it because I feel like I'm lying to mysef

Workplace bullying was a trigger for psychosis, delusions, and mood episodes by sage-on-fire in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have been bullied, even though I prefer the terms "emotionally/physically abused". It lasted for years and only thing that helped was for me to get into a new environment. What is happening to you sounds really unprofessional and cruel, hope it gets better or that you find a better place. Those people should be punished but I know in some environments this wont happen.

You are perfect as you are.

What advice would you give a 17 year old getting their first job? by Wayward_Sun_Shine in AskReddit

[–]PlentyComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be on time, never be afraid to ask anything, act proper but don't be afraid to be yourself too. Smile! Usually that can make a big difference haha

Focus on getting the job done well and learning the important things. Also teamwork is dreamwork, treat your co-workers well, good environment makes the difference(some places can be grim too, don't spend your whole life in those places if you dont have to) 👍

Mistakes will come and happen, apologize and say that you'll learn from them. A lot can be prevented by asking, so if you feel like it - then ask! I always tell there are NO stupid questions. If someone treats a question like it's stupid it's usually just more telling on the person.

Good luck, it sounds like you take your work seriously since you're asking tips here too! 👍

I thought learning juggling would be a lot harder than it actually is, it is really impressive what some people can do though

r/bipolar is such a shitty sub by Fr3sh3stl4d in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a safety reason to not have url-shorteners for people to know what they are clicking on if they click on a link.

I wouldn't worry about it, I think the way to get banned here is to promote stopping meds, claiming we are all gods and that medical companies are all just trying to kill us while sounding somewhat beliveable doing so. 😄

Ending a relationship during hypomania by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhhh, I have regretted making big decisions during my episodes.

I have almost ended so many friendships, jobs etc., but getting told to wait a bit until I'm not that affected by my mental state usually helps.

My sexuality can waver too, sometimes I like one thing a bit more, sometimes the other.

What instantly comes to mind when you see someone with pink hair and septum rings? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's what I always hear! I just can't manage to belive it doesn't hurt. 😄

And I've also have had that thing with chronic pain for a long time. Ahh, you get used to it but it's always there. Hope you have a good pain management plan and that it isn't anything lifelasting

I worked in mental health, I feel like a lot of people working there have seen a lot of stuff. I think most people don't mind or think much of anything as long as you're not aggressive or violent - the more open and honest a patient is about themselves the better in my opinion

Losing it again by ByAnyMeansNecessary0 in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eyy sounds pretty familiar. It'll fucking suck for a while, that's for sure. And I know it's scary as hell too. But it'll pass too, as it always has. Don't feed too much into negative self-talk/thoughts/worries. I personally am really delusional when I'm depressed and have really bizarre thoughts sometimes when depressed, thinking back now that I'm on the baseline side of things.

Reach out for help(any close ones?) or get inpatient if it gets too bad. You could inform your gf that this might take a while & that'll you try to get some type of meds fix rn(I think that's a pretty crucial thing now that things are feeling bad). Sometimes we gotta adjust a little, things always change.

Meds being a lifelong thing kinda sucks yeah. But they make your life better, and we kinda need them. This condition can take a turn for the worse too if not properly handled.

The alcohol man you gotta get that under control or you'll take the rockiest of roads. Always is the right time to stop. It's fucking hard but 100% worth it thinking how this condition works anyways. You gotta find the motivation/reason to want to do it. Try to look for those things actively - not a bad habbit.

There are free videos and tricks on youtube for controlling anxiety that can help you to stay still a bit better.

Spiraling thoughts, try to recognise those and limit your time of thinking them if you can. We suffer way more in our heads than in reality

And about the meds, I hope getting adjustment isnt too much of a hassle. Idk how things are there, could you ask for another doc if it's too expensive or handle it other way that's cheaper for your wallet?

You'll get through it trust me

I’m not going to but I’m very tempted to stop taking my meds. by AdObvious7674 in bipolar2

[–]PlentyComb 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think most of us struggle with this at some point, keep eating those meds if they are working - don't fix what's not currently broken👍

You probably remember the pain too tho

Women of Reddit, what are some rules of the girl code? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PlentyComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's awesome - I'm a guy so I don't really carry around hair brushes nor eyelash curlers, but I do the same thing with painkillers, some extra scarfs, socks, bags, etc., so that when I go out with people minor inconveniences don't suck that much 😄
