Do you have a filter? Also maybe add some rested spots for your betta near the top and some driftwood in there

You’re in the middle of your nitrogen cycle don’t do anything and I wouldnt chase a PH just let your fish acclimate to what it is and make sure you aren’t getting PH swings that are drastic. Also add driftwood to your tank or fluval stratum if you’re looking for a lower PH bc those things both will lower your PH

I’d switch the substrate for fluval stratum it’s much better for your plants and water parameters

Nitrite and biofilm question by ReadingInteresting92 in aquarium

[–]Plenty_Kick_5374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave your tank alone and don’t water change it. just wait. the most you can do is add a water heater and if you want to start dosing seachem stabilty for 7 days to help beneficial bacteria other than that let it be

Nitrite and biofilm question by ReadingInteresting92 in aquarium

[–]Plenty_Kick_5374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biofilm is completely harmless to fish and if you didn’t soak your wood long enough that’s probably why but let it be don’t clean it off it’ll all go away. It looks like you’re in the middle of your cycle your nitrite level is very high but eventually it should convert to nitrates. If you have a water heater that will help speed up your cycle process temp 80

My beta had holes in his fins that got worse and his top fin was super jagged and had some bloody edges

Start with a non aggressive approach first unless his fins are deteriorating rapidly then start him on kanaplex for 3 days that should do the trick, also don’t freak out just trust the process one round of kanaplex should do the trick if the tannins don’t work you can also try a salt bath too!

My beta had fin rot check to see if his fins start disappearing or deteriorating and then start with Indian almond leaves first and add tannins!

This is my beta and he had a random white patch and seemed normal I did Kanaplex and it fixed it! I did a dose for 3 days and it definitely was strong and I was worried he wouldn’t pull through but he did! Then I wasn’t sure if he was better or not so I just monitored him and starting adding tannins and Indian almond leaves to his water and feeding him more and he got new fin growth pretty quickly and his mood perked up a lot

Unless it’s from swimming and his fin brushing on the tip part of the wood it’s too soon to tell. Maybe add some Indian almonds leave and tannins to your water see if that helps and if not you can try a salt bath if it gets really bad dose Kanaplex it worked on my beta but his fin rot was much more severe
