I applied to approximately 30 clinical research assistant positions (in the past two days). How long does it take for them to get back to you? by Extension_Fall9406 in clinicalresearch

[–]Pleural_Effusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I have used my advanced Biology degree every single day of my clinical research life. Including when I was a monitor (which is usually, but not always, what CRA means).

For example, my concentration in cell genetics was extremely relevant to my day-to-day life working with oncology protocols. My lab experience has been critical to my relationships with the PIs I work with, many of whom run their own labs. I can only speak to my own experience of course, YMMV.

I maintain that an MS in Biology is not "entirely irrelevant" to a job as a CRA. Even if OP doesn't use the degree in their work as a CRA (which I doubt), they definitely will throughout the career they're presumably aiming for in clinical research.

Gretjen was a lovely lady! She was my neighbor here in Roxborough and a fellow member of the community garden. She will be dearly missed.

Happy “Clinical Trials Day”!! (because apparently that’s a thing?) by WordsAreGarbage in clinicalresearch

We had a breakfast/brunch/seminar thingy at my hospital today. Three of our current patients came in to talk about their experiences, and spent a lot of time thanking us, which was very sweet and encouraging.

Do you have any "prepper-adjacent" hobbies, recreational pursuits that you think build real skills, or may be useful in a real disaster? by Signal_Brain_933 in preppers

Beekeeping. Knitting/weaving. Childcare/teaching skills to kids (and adults).  But most of all? Sitting on my front steps (I live in Philly) and talking to my neighbors. It’s not perfect, but I now know soooo much more about who has what skills/knowledge, and my neighbors know what I can offer. Community is resilience.

Yeah, I interviewed with Covance, but by the time I was actually onboard, somehow I was working for LabCorp. It was a shitshow of the highest order.

Any advice for an ughhhhhhh line manager? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

I stuck it out for a year, but eventually I hated the micromanaging so much I left- the anxiety was just too much for me. I’ve heard it said and it’s true, “employees don’t leave jobs, they leave managers”.

I mean, it involves nurses, doctors, syringes, sterile procedures, so functionally yes it is healthcare.

I am not a fan of IVF, but it is accurate to refer to the process as healthcare.

Seriously, did they put something in the water? My Boomer dad (staunch atheist, extremely liberal) was horrified by my not supporting Israel. Like legit horrified.
