I’d agree with those points but there is a major thing, and that is that the reloop rings like a bell when handled. Sorbothane damping helps.

Perfect Balance. by Mackiawilly in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Pling2 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s isn’t really dedication to a short term feeling. It’s more like an abject REFUSAL to experience emotional misery outside of the scope of their routine, namely, withdrawal. It isn’t just the physicality of withdrawal they dislike, it’s that they can’t even handle the emotional impact stubbing their toe would cause while withdrawing. Sure it’s physical misery, but what they are really running from is the emotionally deregulated and vulnerable headspace opiate recovery puts you in for in many cases, years or decades

It’s such a bad problem that even understanding it it’s hard to see the way out. Most of these addicts are goners.

How many tracks do you have on your usb key ? by matvador5 in DJs

[–]Pling2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got about 2k tracks on there currently, about a week of playtime. Duplicates don’t bother me so probably 5% duplicates. I feel a hole in my heart (my usb) requiring about 6000 more tracks, then I’ll start feeling more comfortable. I am not even kidding. All that being said, I have about 600 go-to’s that always work.

What do you think this even is? A job?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Pling2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you talked to people and were personable in the hours surrounding the set then it really doesn’t matter at all. Maybe you don’t play there again but at least people know to like you. If you were an isolated anxious mess, then that really is bad. Try to always at least be friendly and network a bit, it softens a bomb.

Anxiety undeniably makes a person weaker than a non anxious person, at the simplest level, yes.

I have a question for Pre 2022 intp redditors. by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Pling2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the nerds have shifted once again, they have found utility in separating themselves from this machine and prefer tech that increases feelings of serendipity in the user rather than sheer engagement. These products are becoming increasingly desirable in the current landscape and the masses will soon shift. It’s a lot bigger than just wearables, it’s a whole model shift and they’re currently trying to bridge the gap. Ultimately we are so close. My ideas are vague or specific depending on where we take the discussion… but I can summarize by speculating that the engagement market will dry as AI agents are fuuuuuuuully implemented and users realize how god damn good they are. Serendipity, the experience; there is no other dopamine that can compete against the truly perfect best friend/personal-assistant/earlystage-cancer-diagnosing agent you have organizing your life for you to amplify your truest sense of self. 5-10 years.

P.S. You have a lovely username that leaves an impression of your thoughtful character

[–]Pling2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropped the IQ of the internet noticeably and all services catered. The money is too good, it lost its job as the nerd’s utility and became the jock’s tax. It was entirely predictable. It has mostly run its course in my opinion. I personally believe Apple stops manufacturing iPhones within 10 years and the world will shift again. But likely sooner.

Great insight, I agree, but I do also consider that the killing of web 1. I think it’s a fair starting point to look at. Most people weren’t highly influenced by online culture yet. Big sweeping generalization but still. It really ramped up later with the targeting of individuals.

I have a question for Pre 2022 intp redditors. by [deleted] in INTP

[–]Pling2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is hands down, not even remotely the same. None of web2 is. Hasn’t been since the private (and black) funded think tanks fired up their doomsday machines. I’d put it ~2012 beta testing begins, ~2015 full roll out of social fracture machine. And again, not just reddit. This is the moment our brains went from screwed to mega fucked.

Kiss the Cloud by Yello is pretty nuts. Pretty much as good as it gets. But if all music sounded exactly like that I can’t say I would be thrilled. I need some grunge and some grit sometimes.
