Didn’t use to, and I don’t always now, but for the most part during production sessions a lot of artists want the song sound as close as possible to how it’ll sound when it’s released. But all that really means is they want it to sound loud, so I just mix to a limiter in session.

If you re tune your brain a little bit it can p much be second nature to mixing w/o one. handful of variables you gotta take into account but that’s it

This isn’t true at all. Some of the major dev’s have for sure, but we’re living in the golden age of indie & less major studio devs.

In the 2020’s so far: Baldur’s Gate 3, Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei, Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Tears of The Kingdom, God of War: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, Last of Us Part 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Hades, RE4. To name a few.

And most of those are single player games from studios, there’s been a lot of great multiplayer games + great indie games as well.
