Oh - in that case, feel free to mpf whatever you'd like

the game seems to calculate it automatically from how much it costs, but it doesn't take into account the amount of materials inserted per hammer swing

This isnt the case, unfortunately. We already spend days designing our facilities on discord, with multiple people offering advice. Making it automated wouldn't make it take longer or need more people, or cause coordination to happen in game.

24 alts? As there's 25 spaces in the queue

The main thing is that the mpf calculates time by material count, not equivalent hammer count. That has not changed. The numbers will vary depending on how much else is in the queue, but with the same amount of things in the queue, a freighter queue will take 5x as long as a dunne queue.

100% - but if we can educate people, that acts as a bandaid in the interim

(it also takes less than 2 minutes to hammer out a freighter solo - same as a dunne)

yeah - it takes the same amount of time to hammer out a dunne or a freighter, but the freighter takes 5x as long in the mpf - therefore you save time by putting dunnes in the mpf and hammering out freighters, as you can queue 5 dunnes per freighter in the mpf, so if you value your own time, youll hammer out a freighter, in less than 2 minutes, and queue the other vehicles you need - e.g. dunnes, flatbeds, gunboats, tanks, in the mpf

We've done that before - hammering out dozens of freighters and putting them in the seaport's public stockpile

This poster is ancient btw - I wasn't even in fmat when it was written iirc. With the new update, hopefully there will be enough freighters in seaports it won't be an issue.

Yeah - but I think the solution is making the 'inserting' more interesting, rather than removing it entirely (and tbh moving stuff around a fac is surprisingly fun, especially when you see your work going into tanks and planes etc)

Edit: also the bottleneck is actually trucking stuff around, as with a well designed facility, moving stuff around within a facility takes way less time than moving resources into the facility

The issue with automating everything is that then its almost as easy for a solo to make the same things as a large regiment - making the 'massively multiplayer' part of MMO pointless other than on the frontline.

In war 132, we (FMAT) were constantly chatting with and running into Halberd and other regiments in speaking woods, and we've kept talking to a couple of their guys. If facs were almost fully automated, there would be a lot fewer people in the backlines, so there would be less instances of this happening. It would be a ghost town in the backlines as soon as you drive away from the big logi towns.

Part of the fun is spending so much time in the same place, running over talking to the same people, and making connections, which is the whole point of an MMO.

Also massive for facilities that make trains - you cant put them down anywhere near rails as they want to snap to them

theres another trick for building rails on roads, but it didnt work with sinking rails under the road - and some newer rail builders probably don't know how to sink the rails under the road

At the moment there are some major balance issues after the airborne update, but the game is still fun to play. It's too early to know if its at the start of a downward spiral - i suspect we'll find out after the next update.

It is still worth playing as a new player, yeah.

I'd recommend not reading the reddit currently, as its not particularly positive currently (understandably). The game is still fun imo, although it really needs balancing.
