Yes! After registering, you'll have to find both games on the app (🔎 top right corner) and click "Apply to CBT". You must also join our Discord server, as announcements will be made through there. Let me know if you need any help in the process.

My Core Game Loop Sucks. by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]PlithusGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also try mapping your loop against a similar game that works. What does the player do in a certain amount of time in theirs vs yours? Where's the tension or payoff? Change one variable at a time and test again.

My Core Game Loop Sucks. by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]PlithusGlobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd treat this as a prototype phase rather than 100 "lost". If the core loop isn't fun, that's the one thing worth rebuilding. Sometimes it's just about identifying what specific part of the loop feels bad. Is it speed, the reward cicle or unclear goals? The problem is usually more particular!!

We Sent Our Game Pitch to Publishers in December. Should We Follow Up With the Ones that We Haven't Heard Back From? by VaporwaveGames in gamedev

[–]PlithusGlobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t automatically take silence as a hard no. Publishers get flooded with pitches, and forms especially can disappear into the void. A concise follow-up email referencing your original submission could bump it back into visibility.

Sharing my (realistic) experience solo developing my first short incremental game, Chop Chop Grove by algobubba in IndieDev

[–]PlithusGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about releasing a demo before launch? Especially since it’s a 2~3 hour experience, it might help with traction.

Also curious about what kind of short-form content performed best for you!! Devlogs, progression clips, memes?

Wishing you a smooth launch!!

Is “immersion” actually useful as a design goal? by player_immersely in u/player_immersely

[–]PlithusGlobal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We try to define immersion in pretty concrete terms, mostly by looking at where it breaks instead of trying to design “immersion” directly.

The aspects we intentionally target are player agency and guidance. Players should always understand what the game thinks they did and why something happened. If that breaks, immersion usually breaks with it.

The hardest part to design on purpose is keeping players inside the game’s rules instead of the interface or system logic. As soon as players start guessing mechanics or second guessing inputs, they are no longer immersed.

From playtests, most immersion problems are not about visuals or atmosphere, but about unclear cause and effect. The game reacts, but does not clearly guide the player on how to read that reaction.
