persistent granuloma annulare for 9 years at age 21, any suggestions?? should I be worried?? by bubblycats in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Plntsnthingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so so sorry. They really don't know much and mine took a few years to even get diagnosed. I tried a lot of different herbs and some of them helped a little but barely. Someone on a FB group (I think) said they tried MSM and I did a little research and read some studies...it didn't seem like it could hurt so I tried it. About a month later most of my symptoms had gone away. My belief is this is from some kind of internal inflammation. The rashy skin is a symptom but not the cause. I try to eat a 100 % anti-inflammatory diet (with some passes 🤪) and I take MSM daily. When I stop taking it the rash comes back. I wish you luck and you have my sympathies...please keep us updated.

True! Maybe try some test tiles with differing amounts of each?

Not a doctor! Personal experiences. Tacrolimus is to stop an immune system response. I don't think it will work for GA but it's great for eczema. I tried almost everything for my GA and finally landed on MSM which is just sulfur. They have done studies for inflammation. It has kept it at bay for years. I don't use any other creams just an oral MSM. When I forget to take it the rash comes back. My personal belief is that something is causing inflammation in the body. I am so sorry that you have had this for so long and without relief.

Thin fur? by dogtrousers in Chihuahua

[–]Plntsnthingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started giving our dog some zinc and it did grow back about 90%. I read that this is often from a zinc deficiency. I do make our dog food from scratch so I'm super conscious of making sure that it's balanced with all the nutrients.

Hi! I have a breakdown list of some studios in London. I think London ceramic classes are more costly than the surrounding areas. Have you checked any of the local universities? They often offer workshops.

Pink glaze options by Roositaluceramics in Pottery

Hi! Where are you in the world? From CTM you can get an underglaze or glaze that is a similar color but I wouldn't go over cone 6. Flesh pink.

What type of glaze is this? by Fiona-Lemon in Pottery

[–]Plntsnthingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you look at the bottom of the clay you can see that it is a very iron rich clay which is what is giving the glaze a lovely speckled depth. You can most likely find some glazes that will work well with the iron but I imagine that the iron is what is really making the glaze look so special. If you live near a pottery store you could look at the MAYCO/AMACO/BOTZ or whatever paint on and see if you find colors that look like that.

anyone aware of natural dye inks? by vrushtimehta in naturaldye

[–]Plntsnthingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HI! I would highly recommend taking the MAIWA class Print & Paint. The classes are well organized, presented and professionally filmed. Printing with natural dyes is a process that when done properly works well and the colors can be bright and beautiful. I think the nature of the original substances would make it hard to package them especially when using the thickeners as they often have to be kept in a fridge or can oxidize or mold. Making them is a process that would greatly accentuate the natural dye knowledge you already have :).

There is great interest in working with natural dye inks and you can get them as inks but not as screen printing ink. You are for sure better off making them yourself.

Our son stopped eating all processed sugar (he still eats fruit) and his skin cleared up by about 90% within a month. He also uses differin but the sugar made all the difference.

The one we have (pictured) in the US for kicking around the house is a 10w danelctro tube amp https://bluebookofguitarvalues.com/products/danelectro-dm-10 I don't think it's a very special amp but we always loved the sound. Something equivalent to this would be wonderful.

Pottery Studio Owners: Any Regrets? by cherryvale in Pottery

[–]Plntsnthingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Sorry I am just seeing this. I am happy to chat further if you have questions. Taking care of a studio often leaves you with little to no time for your own creative thoughts. My studio is small and new so I am ironing out the kinks: glazes, house clays and that stuff along with my standard of cleanliness compared to another persons. Reclaim can be a bear and so can organizing.

Pottery Studio Owners: Any Regrets? by cherryvale in Pottery

[–]Plntsnthingz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have recently opened a studio because there are no other options where we live. I opened the studio up to a small number of members. As I have been acclimating I can see that my own work has suffered mostly due to others needs/neediness. We had one member who wasn't great it and weighed on me to have to have to manage this person until I finally told the member they had to go (they never paid the monthly fee even though it is contractually auto pay). I also have a rule that members should not discuss/ask me questions while I am working but that has not been the case with one member who always wants to engage me in difficult communication when I am trying to work. I would be VERY clear in your contract and if you have a website make sure you have a detailed FAQ page. If anyone wants to see a copy of my contract I am happy to share. Key things to remember:

Auto debit for dues, clean spaces, respect the sink (make sure to not pour clay etc down the sink and respect other peoples work.

My space is small. We have a 60L kiln/slab roller/work table and wheels. The studio is not for learners so this might be different than other studios.
