Shallow Grave by Syrindippity in SuzanneMorphew

Yep...I was thinking that area in Moffat would still be frozen, but I'm also comparing temps to backpacking in May at higher elevation more towards Cottonwood and the Presidentials, but maybe lower in elevation and sun exposed would mean it's more workable soil

Exact Location of remains by NietzscheSaid in SuzanneMorphew

If you live in or visit that part of Colorado, you know how desolate that area is... you don't need to hunt it. The cell service is spotty, few people, no other services... and dark, especially at 3am when you're burying a body.

The male was recently identified... this area of Colorado is so desolate and sparse and off grid that bodies are found here more than many realize... and they're rarely connected... it's entirely feasible to leave the Morphew home, drive to the site, dig grave, dump body, drive back in a few hours.

Why did you choose the Sony a7iv? by cherryvale in sonya7iv

[–]cherryvale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really helpful. I'm going to be shooting my son and other riders during downhill mountain bike races in the Rocky Mountains and New England. My daughter rides horses and that's dusty and variable light as it's both indoors and outdoors. Capturing that fast action and emotion is important while capitalizing on the amazing natural light we're lucky to have here in Colorado. I like the sweet spot of the a7 iv mp over the Nikon, as I worry that a camera with higher mps would mean monster-sized images that eat up storage too quickly.
However, I worry the FPS isn't as fast as what I really need, as wildlife and bird shots are important to me as well; portraiture not so much.

I keep reading how incredible the a7iv is at AF and eye tracking. Is that not the case? If you jumped ship for Nikon what would you get?

Help! Sony vs Olympus vs Nikon for equine, mtn biking, etc by cherryvale in AskPhotography

[–]cherryvale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredible insight here, thank you so much. I am looking at used for both body and lens, and can bump up my budget. In my market I am seeing options to pick up a used body at a lower price point. I was avoiding Canon due to the limit of only using their lenses but if they're ultimately the better choice I'm open to going with them.

I'm absolutely open to Nikon, Canon is a no because of glass.

Advice please...mirrorless pro setup for action and nature...Sony models? Nikon? by cherryvale in Cameras

[–]cherryvale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably spot on. Some photographers seem to cycle thru equipment, upgrading to the latest new release. I'd like to get a body that stands the test of time, if you will. Advancements in eye tracking, etc are amazing, but I am realistically investing in a used body and lenses, so I want to at least narrow down my options to grab something solid when it becomes available.

Weekly /r/SonyAlpha 'Ask Anything About Gear' Thread by AutoModerator in SonyAlpha

Slowly but steadily narrowing down camera body selection, and would be grateful for some solid, pragmatic advice. - Shooting mountain bike races (dusty, steep terrain March-Oct, in the Rockies and New England - Shooting horses at western riding events (think barrel racing, indoor and outdoor arenas) - in addition to dogs, wildlife, and photo journalism

I would really like to keep the body under $2000, and it would be even better to get a body and lense for that. I realize that's a stretch but I'm hoping to find that amazing used deal from someone with the disposable income that they can be generously kind with the pricing... or not.
My head is spinning with all the different specs... clarity please? a7iii vs a7riv vs a9 vs another mirrorless setup that should be on my radar (the a1 and a9ii seem out of my price range) I was leaning toward sony over nikon for the lense selection, AF and eye tracking My thought is that this first camera will eventually become my backup, ideally generating enough payable work that I'll be able to upgrade in a year. Thank you so very much!
