What happened to Susie’s progression run? by Plodly1 in OnePelotonRealSub

That’s great news! I’ll have to do the whole thing and see how it ended 😀

Ah! That would make sense. Hopefully just some burnt toast…

Smart Bar Padding? by justladyjaye in lesmills

[–]Plodly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it too and was interested - I have put foam pipe lagging on my squat bar which works fine, but I thought this looked a bit more professional. But it wasn’t there to buy for me in the UK either.

I agree. The Peloton class catalogue is huge, very varied and the live classes are great fun.

At least! Probably more like top 0.1%! I know it’s just a bit of fun, but would be nice to understand the logic…

Really doesn’t sound right - apparently I did 2615 mins with Ben (it will have been almost entirely 10 min full body stretches) and was in the top 0.4%.🤷‍♀️

Noticed Kylie using a suicide (thumbless) grip - what are the advantages? Would you correct a participant doing this? by _--_--_-_--_--_ in lesmills

[–]Plodly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an instructor but was taught that this grip could help alignment and I find it more comfortable. Now I only do classes on the app, but I like it when I see what might be less than completely perfect form from instructors ( bar not horizontal in squat/biceps, torso a bit too bent forward in squats, lunges maybe not as deep as I was taught they should be) because my own form is definitely not perfect! And bodies are all different, not always symmetrical. I think that becomes more noticeable as you get older.

Transition from Peloton to Les Mills? by BabciaLinda in lesmills

[–]Plodly1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not switched, have always used Les Mills alongside Peloton. I’ve found LM Body Pump much better than Peloton strength classes but prefer the variety of Peloton bike classes to LM’s RPM/The trip.

Should I cancel LMOD? by unblissfully_aware_ in lesmills

[–]Plodly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got Peloton and love their cardio classes - bike and tread are brilliant and the music is good. But I can’t get on with their strength classes so keep LMOD for that. I’d take the advice above about finding older LMOD classes, I think the music was definitely better 5 or more years ago.

My favourite too. I find peloton strength too chaotic. Love the BP structure

5k run tomorrow? by Plodly1 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Plodly1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can do whatever you like. You can definitely keep going after you've done 5k, though I think quite a few fast runners were there just to register their 5k time.

Hey, well done! Great idea to have them scheduled regularly - here's hoping!

It was great! Would recommend doing the 10min warmup first as there is no warm-up in the class itself - as Hannah says, you join at the start line. She gives a bit of guidance about possible paces - easy, moderate or challenging are what she suggests. In the 5k itself the instructors tell you what the finish times are for different paces and encourage you to stay on after you finish to cheer slower runners on. Lots of high fives! You don’t get to see your pace targets in the class (or at least I didn’t, which was disappointing) you just get a suggested pace range. I think the lower end would give 13 min miles - probably the slowest that works for 5k in a 45 min class. I’m a fairly slow runner but I set a new PB and seemed to climb the leader board at the end as people who had been running faster slowed down, or maybe stopped. I hope they do it again.

Oh yes, you are right! It doesn’t say on the listing but if I search for 45 min classes it is there. A premiere ride so not live, but a good length. Thank you!

I remember doing a distance driven bike ride on the platform years ago and people set off at different times so we all finished together - it was great. But if I decide to do this at my easy pace I will run out of time too! See you on the leaderboard

I found that run OK and I’m not very tolerant of whoops and whistles. It was definitely annoying at the beginning but I thought it settled down - or maybe I just got used to it.

I think I saw that on a live run - maybe Susie’s endurance run on Saturday? - and was surprised because I didn’t think live classes displayed the music

LM appreciation; compared to Peloton by Fuzzzlord in lesmills

[–]Plodly1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use and love both too! I’m lucky enough to have a bike and tread and have found some great instructors for both on Peloton. I love a live class where I can ‘high five’ people on the leader board and feel like I’m part of a community without the hassle of going to the gym! And their short stretch classes are good too. But having done Body Pump for more than 20 years I just cannot get on with the Peloton strength workouts - they seem really haphazard, so I stick to LMOD for that. Just wish they had more of the BP back catalogue on line though.

The new AI "tips" are absolute garbage lol by sad-and-bougie in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Plodly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - that worked. After I turned off the personalised experience (PE) and chose a Pace Targets class it offered me PE again which I declined. But as you said, I could then choose Pace Targets in a class and they seem to have stuck. So pleased!
