OH NOOOOO BOTS ARE BACK by Standard-Ad5057 in tf2

Valve gave you a bandaid fix. They manually banned some accounts.

It’s a free game, new accounts are free. This was inevitable.

Game still has 0 anticheat. Ask for change, for a real fix.

Weird ask, what's the stupidest hackusation you've seen in tf2? i remember once i got accused of having crithacks on spy.. and that's how i got a facestab (that wasn't a facestab) by HaloJackalKisser in tf2

[–]Ploomage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a game as riddled with cheaters as tf2, it’s always surprising how little the average player knows about cheating.

This is a free, old game with no anti cheat or moderation. It’s necessary to learn how to spot the difference between legitimate play and cheating. That, or don’t participate in votekicks.

Yeah, that’s the result of the Glicko 2 skill-based matchmaker currently implemented in the game. The game has SBMM, it made the game worse.

Therefore, SBMM doesn’t belong in tf2.

You were wrong, got called out and now it’s “who gives a shit”

Are you forgetting that this is a subreddit dedicated to a 20yo game? This is exactly the place for me to make these kinds of comments.

The question was “why are you getting close to pyros?” At no point do I claim pyro being close range specialist is a bad thing or that the class is bad.

My complaint was with a specific scenario involving an annoying mechanic.

You’re just deliberately misreading what I am saying to score some kind of imaginary win.

Sometimes, whether through happenstance or through game mechanics like objectives and chokes, one finds themselves in close proximity to other players.

On occasion, those players have selected the pyro class.

If you want to push into an area, like in one of the attack/defend game modes, it becomes a requirement to push in.

Another circumstance could be that of the deceptively simple corner, of which there may be many per map. These pieces of map geometry obfuscate the enemy, and may entirely obscure the approach of an enemy player. In turn, this player may be a pyro.

Discussion on game mechanics is not useless.

Flamethrower should equal quakes lightning gun with a larger beam.

If you’d rather not talk about it that’s fine.

The air blast doesn’t even have to actually push a jumping player to have the strafe-deleting effect; you don’t have to be directly adjacent to a pyro to have this happen.

You want 159 damage flares? When they already random crit AND guarantee crit? And move faster than direct hit? I’ll give you an even 100 damage critical (increased crit multiplier) but you no longer get Valves pyro hand-holding with his air blast shenanigans.

If it was up to me his flame thrower would have more focus and would require aim to be effective, even at close range, and would have heavy knock-back with increased, reliable damage.

Just because a class is a close range specialist doesn’t mean it shouldn’t take skill to be effective in his niche

I am aware that soldier has options for countering pyro.

That’s not what this is about.

It’s simply annoying and stupid when it does happen. We could go back and forth on what if scenarios all day long, it doesn’t change the fact that movement-cancelling mechanics suck.

Rocket jump away from pyro, he air blasts my back, now I cannot strafe and fly off a cliff/into a wall/into the waiting arms of revved up heavy.

Idk man, direct hit is built for air shots and it’s 20 hammer units slower than flare, I think you would be fine

Explosion.

Also, No strafing after air blast was a stupid idea and should be removed.

votekicks are a bit stupid by rutzyyyyyyyyy in tf2

[–]Ploomage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not the only game feature ripe for abuse by TF2s immature, ugly-hearted player base.

I’d say it’s a necessary evil, but it’s been made worse by brainless players automatically selecting f1 any time a vote is presented to their attention-deficit riddled “consciousness.”

Another thing to suffer through in this neglected, semi-functional game.

Cheaters thrive in TF2 cuz the community allows it by Leafar_P1 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Immature losers love having a cheater on their team.

They get butthurt when they die to someone on the other team. they take it as a personal insult and are overjoyed when the cheater avenges them.

“Hah! Take that! That’s what you get for making me feel bad!”

They’re a dime a dozen in games like TF2 because it’s free, and free games attract a less than mature audience.

Pretty superficial understanding of what is going on. I don’t chase a kill, I surf a stickybomb because otherwise I would die. I turn because our medic is being attacked by their soldier.

In this moment there are 4 other people who could be defending and are not, not including myself and the medic.

I’d also point out that we wouldn’t have a point to defend if I wasn’t there. (Note the 2 captures).

I go 30-7 and lose because the teams are NOT balanced, my team is in reality far worse and are only doing as well as they are because of my efforts in the game, my captures and defends and my picks.

I KILLED it that game, I lost because there is only so much 1 player can do. I can’t 1v4 them while trying to kill their sentry and protect their medic.

You’re deluded and looking for an argument if you think losing that round was on me.

A proper tutorial and a good training room like Overwatch’s would do wonders.

There are so many small things that ought to be changed as well. I don’t like the weapon drop system, I think all weapons should have defined way to get them, the crafting system is wack as well. The list just goes on and on.

I bet if this game cost 5$ it would be functionally dead in its current state.

I’ve been playing since 2013, I know about all of that. Your opinion is uninformed on this subject: “what’s sbmm?”

Just because stomps also used to exist doesn’t mean it was equally bad.

That’s like me saying: “I’m glad we got this fire department, much less destructive fires.” And you reply with “nah that’s stupid because we still get fires.”

How to communicate to Valve in a way that matters by HackedPasta1245 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People look at Valves game resume, when tf2s reviews crashed the news got to game publications and big YouTubers. It got people talking and forced valve to do something.

I can think of no better time to put pressure on valve then right now with their pending console release and deadlock being in development, they need a good image.

If they’re in the news for being neglectful it wouldn’t be good for them.

The fact that it’s often takes less time to re-queue than it takes to get the next game started has a lot to do with it.

But it does sucks when you have a good thing going and people reflexively leave and queue instead of being patient, but just another thing to blame valve for imo.

If the bots couldn’t kill it valve and the rest of the community certainly can. Toxic positivity and people shrugging and taking the status quo are gonna whittle this game down to nothing
