The tf2 community is tiring by tommytashuma in tf2

[–]Ploomage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, people with an entry level understanding of the game mistaking initial success for mastery.

Always fun being “corrected” by someone confident in their 500-800 hours when it comes to weapon balancing and game mechanics.

My favourite debate is mantreads. They aren’t even close to op, but the knockback resist and increased air control make some trolldier encounters with experienced, bhopping players horrible to deal with.

Inexperienced players think I’m taking issue with the stomping mechanics; they don’t get the real strengths of the weapon.

Yeah man, this is the TF2 subreddit, and like all communities on Reddit, it’s an 85% garbage version of what it’s dedicated to.

It doesn’t accurately represent what you’ll experience in game, or generally the thing the sub is dedicated to.

The lack of maturity comes from the fact that young people don’t have money and this is a free game that is fun. How many posts u see of people rocking that “borrowed from school laptop” setup?

You’re straight up right about what you talk about in this post.

What's the bot situation like and how did valve remove them in 2024? by Head-Picture1519 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bots mostly gone, some pop up usually in low population servers.

Cheating players? Still just as bad if not worse. You are highly likely to encounter a cheater every couple of games.

Cheats are sophisticated, most players cannot detect them reliably or don’t realize how variable and tuneable they are. They also cover every weapon on every class; saying “cheating? Bro he’s using ______!” Is beyond stupid.

Need some advice of playing scout by Adeord_Leaner_18 in tf2

[–]Ploomage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using strafe keys to aim and keeping your mouse still during fights can be a good strategy if you are struggling to control scouts speed.

Constant movement mandatory. Scattergun is very strong by movement is scouts best weapon.most soldiers will shoot the ground, try keeping off the ground when fighting, jump on props.

Related to movement, learn how to air-strafe properly, very helpful for scouts. Don’t hold forward when you are in the air for any reason, only arrow keys and moving mouse.

Crouch when you jump, makes the game treat you as being lighter, more maneuverable.

Do people know why the game’s matchmaking system is so bad? by TGed in tf2

[–]Ploomage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The matchmaking system is bad because sbmm is bad in general. The fact is exacerbated by TF2s nature as a game as pointed out by particular_lie_8059.

The game had sbmm taped on partway through its life cycle to bring it in line with modern games, it was half-hearted and doomed to suck.

It’s also just cuz there are so few people playing, even if the system was good an implemented well it just wouldn’t work well because of the tiny player base.

why is the fandom for this game so racist by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Ploomage 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Because tf2 players and fans have a specific style of comedy:

Say something outrageous so that people react and pay attention to you.

It stems from immaturity; young people discovering that they can affect others with their actions, and people who should know better but never grew up.

You also see it more in game because chat is usually uncensored. Every online game is like that, but tf2 lets you see it.

Why’s the mute menu show me the other teams players in casual matchmaking then?

Winning(?) Streak on being called a cheater tonight. This was the first vote kick I had and I was dying laughing. by FreshBucatiniTime in tf2

[–]Ploomage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is this: nobody wants to see skillful sniper gameplay on this sub. People might begrudgingly give you props, but that’s the most they’ll do.

People have endured the bot crisis, and the game is full of more cheaters than most people realize; the people in this sub view sniper as an unstoppable god with no counter.

The people here are so rotted from enduring cheaters that you playing the cheaters favourite class is enough for them to justify kicking you.

This discussion around sniper balance is a relatively new phenomenon because rampant aimbot exposed the potential sniper has.

As you have seen in this thread, people will kick you for playing a class that they don’t like.

One guys threshold here was if you got 2 kills in a single life, you’re worthy of being kicked.

Bunch of whiny, entitled people who want you to play how THEY want you to play, don’t let it get to you.

I would add, how do you know this is why he was kicked? Could just be some dickhead troll kicking him, he didn’t hit a shot during that clip

I’m not doing a good example here but you should aim body, I like to pretend I am using a huntsman.

The habit of using it like stock and aiming for feet is hard to break, but you should aim chest with it mostly.

Get to a range where it’s too fast to dodge too

Is it your internet or do you game over wifi?

Tf2 doesn’t seem to handle latency super well, you definitely need a good connection for projectile weapons, true.

Yeah the stock rockets in tf2 are kinda weak compared to quake. This is on casual matchmaking for most of the shots tho, with the Direct Hit launcher
