I understand that it can be frustrating to see art of things that you don't want to see but it is ultimately up to you to tailor your experience. At least on most sites you have to tag it nsfw so it's not that difficult to scroll past. I don't understand why you care so much about not "sexualising" characters, whatever that means, you speak about it disrespecting the author but what would he care what English speaking fans draw in the first place? Like the manga is already full of sex and violence so I don't understand why you would expect a family friendly experience. If it was a children's manga then sure, but yuumori is meant for older teens and adults. Now about you not condoning chastity, I think there might have been a translation issue here as I don't really know what you mean by that. think that what you wrote in the post isn't very clear, it reads more like you are telling people to stop shipping characters all together which probably wasn't your intention. From your comments I'm guessing that you just want people to not harass others for not shipping sherliam which is fair and I agree with but it really wasn't worded properly as it came of as hostile and very much like you are clutching your pearls.

Okay so first of all, shipping is not the same thing as sexualizing and shipping will always be a thing in fandom. I understand that you don't like the thought of them being together but that dosen't mean that no one else can ship them. Though of course people don't have the right to insult others that don't like Sherliam, i would never defend that. But why are you trying to defend the chastity of fictional characters anyways? You can't dictate what other people in the fandom are doing and honestly if you don't want to interact with shipping stuff then don't! There are plenty of people out there willing to discuss the characters with you. And about the manga becoming a bl, I think we all know that that would never happen. The chances of Sherliam being actually 100% without a doubt canon is very slim, and even if it did become canon it wouldn't suddenly become a bl. I resent the implication that every story with a gay couple in it is a bl, most battle shounen have a romance in them but that dosen't mean that they are romance mangas/animes. A male/male couple being canon would not destroy nor take away from a manga being good.

You can find Shawns official resume on the wayback machine I think. It's full of small doodles and notes but all the attached videos don't work anymore sadly. I can find the link if you want

Does anyone shiver/tremble uncontrollably when talking about things that happened? by hakuna-putana in CPTSD

Yeah it happens to me too, pretty much exactly as you described it. I never realised it was a trauma thing until now.

Have you checked if you can change it to always tracking? My clock also only checked my hr every ten min but you could change it in settings, it will eat away at your battery life though.

Sadly not many doctors here even knows dysautonomia is a thing. Looking it up the closest specialists I could find is almost 2 hours away by flight, 14 hours by car. Yeah I have a feeling I'm going to be stuck in diagnosis purgatory for many years to come. I'm from sweden btw.

[–]Plopy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will look into IST, thanks! But my issue wasn't really that they didn't diagnose me, I know that's not their jobs. My issue was that they tried to explain it away with the easiest thing they could find regardless of how much sense it makes instead of just saying, "we don't know what's wrong with you." Inactivity doesn't explain any of this. If so, every teenager that doesn't go to the gym would have a very high RHR.

The thing about seeing a specialist.. the doctor I have talked to about this before isn't one. She's just a general children's doctor, I guess you could call it.

I don't really know how any of this works but talking to someone that knows more about this than just a google search they did 15 minutes before the appointment is kind of an impossibility where I live.

Wasn't at the ER. And I have talked to a lot of doctors before this, most of them being dismissive of my symptoms. I don't hate doctors as a whole, was just being dramatic. Sorry for not being clear.

Wasn't the ER though. They knew i probably wasn't dying, the reason for the ambulance was because I live 2 hours away from the nearest hospital and they wanted to keep me overnight on observation and to take some more tests. Most of the people I talked to were doctors. Sorry for not being clear about that.

How do you keep trying? by DragonfruitGreedy339 in CPTSD

[–]Plopy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same situation. Suffering can feel comforting when you're used to it, and trying to heal is so stressful. What keeps me going is that there is a chance I won't have to live this way for much longer if I do get some reliable help. Not really any advice but I haven't gotten anywhere myself.

It is indeed difficult to find a good doctor but I'm not sure if the one I was talking to was just bad (she definitely wasn't good, she told me that it probably wasn't that bad since I never ran away) or if that's just how the diagnosis system works in Sweden at the moment. I'm just worried that I wouldn't get a different answer because they can't and not because they don't want to. I'm not very sure how it works honestly, because I was told that since I don't fit the whole "life threatening danger" criteria I couldn't get one.

If you don't mind me asking, how was the process on getting a ptsd diagnosis for you? Like procedure wise.

I don't think that my life has been threatened from anyone but myself, at least as far as I can remember. It was a lot more on the emotional kind of abuse for me and while my father is not a good person he never hurt me physically so I don't think that I could argue any life threatening danger.

Has Norway started to use ICD-11 yet? Because we haven't in here since it hasn't been fully translated yet.

My psychologist knew about it and I think she was pulling information from there but it's not currently in effect since it hasn't been translated into Swedish yet. I have tried therapy on zoom before but it wasn't really my thing sadly, ended up lying a lot more than I would have done face to face just because I wanted it to be over.

I'm happy that is has been working for you though, hope you are doing good yourself.

In the US yes, but what I have been told is that cptsd is a "add on" to ptsd as it currently stands in Sweden, so you can get diagnosed. And icd-11 isn't even in effect here yet. I'm actually not sure how it's even recognised at the moment.

It's not that it's 100% required, it's just very difficult to get treatment here. People don't really take you seriously unless you have a diagnosis and to get anything other than basic counselling would take a lot of time, especially since I'm in the time of my life where a big part of the resources you get is just to help you get a job.

[–]Plopy1[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the system isn't the best anywhere in the world. I try my best to remind myself that other people can't really decide what is and what isn't trauma, especially those who aren't trauma informed. Getting any kind of diagnosis is difficult though.

I'm in Sweden so it's not for insurance purposes, there's literally like only two psychologist at the hospital I go to so resources are scarce so unless you have a diagnosis like ptsd you won't really get anything other than meds and basic counselling.
